Our Monthly Mini Series Continues — Meet Gladys!
We’re back with the next design in our special year-long series of Monthly Minis, each one named after one of Lisa’s mom’s nine sisters. This month’s mini, Gladys, is a tribute to another one of those beloved women who’ve shaped Lisa’s story and inspired her creativity.

Hey everyone, it's Lisa from Permanent Gatherings and it's time to introduce our July monthly mini.
So this quilt is named Gladys after my Auntie Gladys, one of my mom's nine sisters.
You all know we had Caroline last month and now we have Gladys. So I picked Gladys because this
looked like Gladys, all right? She loved flowers and all kinds of stuff like that. So this is kind
of based on the 30s fabrics and this is a Moda fabric charm. You need two. Now I just quickly
want to talk about this, what we need for this, because in this particular charm pack there were
multiples, like four, of some of the prints and that's how I was able to get these ones on the
outside. Now this last row here, I had to take one extra block from here for all four corners.
So in the instructions you're going to see that this outer row has four from this one here. So
there will be extra ones when you cut this row. But this quilt is super easy. It is all squares.
It is pieced on the diagonal. So you start in that middle and you just keep going out like that on
the diagonal. Super simple but super fun way to use this charm pack with these fabrics. So you can
pick whatever ones you want in the charm pack. You don't have to do them in the same order
I have done them in. I picked a dark binding, a dark blue binding, because that kind of upset the,
I kind of had, let's see, I started with teal and then I went navy and cream and then the kind of
yellowy chartreuse and then back out to the teal. So then navy was the next one in line. So that's
the only reason why I picked that. But go ahead and pick whatever one you want for this. We are
going to have kits for this as well because they have the two charm packs from Good Works Feed Sacks
from Lindsay McRae. So this was her fabric line for Moda. You're going to need two, like I said,
and then an eighth yard for binding. And look, I used the charm squares pieced together for the
backing as well. Some of them got cut away at, you know, but so I had used 16 of the bigger prints
that I could not use in the front because you would, you know, you wouldn't, you'd get like
two different colors in one of these. So I tried to pick the smaller prints for the quilt top and
then the bigger prints for the backing. So that worked out super slick. And so if you, just be
aware, if you do make this with another charm pack like one of mine, I don't have four in the same
charm pack. You might get two, you know, so you might, in a few, but very rarely. So this was a
smaller fabric line. So that's why a lot of them had four prints in them of each one when you
combine them with two. Okay. All right. So that's what I mean by you need two charm packs and you'll
have extra leftover that you can make in the backing and then you will still have some more
extra leftover that you could probably make another little mini quilt with as well. But we really
loved how this one turned out. So we hope you enjoy making this one and we can't wait to see
all your little mini quilts on our Stitch With Lisa Bongean group on Facebook. All right. Bye for now.
