Have you ever found something amazing while rock hunting on the beach, or had to call in an emergency while on a road trip? Let us know in the comments below!
Today’s adventure is incredibly special, emotional, and a little more chaotic than we ever expected. We are taking our beautiful Siberian Husky, Memphis, on what would turn out to be her very last camping trip. Before we could even hit the road to our happy place, we had to get Memphis’s major surgery officially scheduled for July 1st, and take Kira to the vet for her normal blood work and routine checkups. Kira was convinced it was the absolute worst moment of her life, but she came out of it with a cute pink wrap, and a serious craving for more peanut butters!
With all three dogs loaded up in the rig, we officially started our journey to the campground, but the drive took a wild turn. While passing through the Newberry and Trout Lake area, we spotted a massive, growing fire right on the side of the highway with absolutely no signs, trucks, or people around. Realizing it wasn't a controlled burn, we called 911 to get the volunteer fire department dispatched before it could turn into a devastating forest fire. Talk about a crazy roadside emergency on the way to our vacation!
Once we safely arrived at Muskallonge Lake and met up with mom and dad, the real husky fun began! We took Memphis, Kira, and Eleanor down the adventurous boardwalk overlook at the Deer Park Life Saving Station to explore the gorgeous, blue shores of Lake Superior. The girls had the absolute best time chasing after a lone cobra chicken, rock hunting for beautiful Lake Superior agates, and digging giant holes in the sand. From Memphis climbing the camper steps like a total champion to Indy learning how to dig her own beach bed, this trip was filled with unforgettable memories. Life is short, make memories with your dogs!
HIGHLIGHTS FROM OUR DAY ☀️ Waking up at 6:30 AM to get breakfast and schedule Memphis's upcoming surgery. 🏥 Taking Kira to the vet for routine blood work where she protested the needle but loved the peanut butter. 🐾 Loading Memphis, Kira, and Eleanor into the rig to head north to our happy place. 🚒 Spotting a dangerous woods fire on the highway and calling 911 to save the forest. 🌊 Arriving at the campground and taking the dogs down to the beautiful Lake Superior beach. 🪨 Hunting for rare Lake Superior agates and showing off our cool glowing rock finds. 🐕 Watching Memphis surprise us all by climbing up into the camper loft like a puppy again. 🏖️ Indie learning how to dig her very own sand hole to lay in on the beach. 🥐 Enjoying some delicious, crunchy Trenary toast back in the camper after a long day. 💤 Watching Eleanor and Memphis fluff their pillows and do circles on their mini couch before bed.

Check out that view.
That view kind of cannot be beat.
Good wonderful beautiful morning, buddies.
We are up. We are having breakfast.
Memphis and I were up at 6.30 so she could go outside and then I couldn't fall asleep
because I had to call the surgical center this morning at 8 a.m.
and then they told me to call back at 8.45 for scheduling.
So Memphis's surgery as of right now is scheduled for July the 1st,
which as of the day I'm filming this is like a month away.
So that's not bad. We only got to wait a month to get her in for surgery.
I'm sure they're gonna call and ask a bunch of questions and things like that.
But as of right now, that is the date selected for Memphis's surgery, which isn't too bad.
That'll give her... and actually that's kind of perfect
because we don't normally camp a whole lot in July because it's usually too hot to go.
So we kind of stick around here anyway.
So I think that's actually gonna work out.
She should be recovered by the time we get ready to start camping at the end of August, beginning of September.
She'll be able to travel and do the fun things again.
So this could work out pretty good.
Guys, I'm a slow eater.
Kira and I have to head to the vet. She's got a couple things, just normal stuff she's got to get done.
We're gonna do that and then we're gonna take off for camping.
Oh my gosh, I wish I would have... look at that.
I wish I would have got that on camera, how much fur you just threw all over my car.
Do you know where you are? Are you excited?
Are you at the vet? And you're excited to be at the vet.
You are kind of a weirdo, you know that?
You're always excited to be at the vet.
It is kind of cute.
Okay, you're just... you're not getting much done.
Yeah? Okay, let's go.
What happened? Did they have to do a blood draw and you didn't like it and now you're protesting?
You had all the peanut butter on the thing though and you almost got it completely clean.
Was it?
She's like, yeah, I would take more of that peanut butter stuff.
More peanut butters.
We're back from the vet and you have a little pink wrap on your foot.
What happened?
Did they have to poke you in both legs?
You just didn't want to give up the bloods, did you?
She's like, guys, it was pretty bad.
I just... I hated it.
It really wasn't that bad, Kira.
Kira will tell you that it was the worst moment of her life ever.
But look, you got a cute pink wrap out of it.
Anyway, Kira's blood work looks absolutely beautiful.
Which is exactly what we wanted. Everything.
Her urine test, her blood work, absolutely beautiful.
Good job, Kira.
Are you guarding the doorway?
Yeah, I know. I got to pack clothes and then we're about ready to hit the road.
One dog, two dog, three dog. Dogs are loaded.
Everything is loaded.
I think... I think we're ready.
We got everything set up.
I think there's a chance Memphis is going to sleep right there.
And Kira's going to get the front seat, cause she's more comfortable up there.
So that just might be how it works.
Yeah, you comfy up there? Yeah.
Oh my goodness!
We're almost in our happy place.
We're bringing this fly along with us.
Well, he's on the windshield, so I guess he's coming with us.
Yes Memphis, when we make this stop, I will feed you your lunch.
Since it is time for the food.
Or maybe we'll just let you out and we'll feed you in an hour.
There's Maginot Island. We haven't made it there yet this season, but it's over there.
Look how blue. It's so blue.
So blue.
Anyway, we're on the bridge. We made it this far.
Girls, how'd you end up in the woods?
We got the muscle.
We stopped over here at the rest area and these two were like, we're going for the trail.
We're on the North Country Trail.
We are on the North Country Trail.
They're like, we're going. I don't know about you.
Hope you all got as dizzy as I just did.
Alright, come on.
We're in tick country, so...
You better come this way.
Come on.
Get out of tall grasses.
You got all your stuff on, but still.
Get out of tall grasses.
Go.
Ticks are everywhere, so it doesn't really matter.
Keep walking. Come on.
You can do it.
I believe in you.
That was not nice, Kira.
Alright, we got an hour and a half to...
Look, an airplane.
Think he's going to the island?
Wrong way. Maybe coming out of Pelston?
Anyway, we are an hour and a half from the campground.
We're playing the game right now.
Is it smoke or bugs?
Can you guys see the little clouds up here?
That we're getting closer to?
Jamie says it's smoke.
I say it's bugs.
I don't know. It keeps disappearing.
That's because it's bugs.
Okay, maybe it's smoke.
Maybe.
Every time we get closer, it goes away.
Which makes me think it's bugs.
I know. It just keeps showing up and disappearing.
Like we should have...
Honestly, I would rather it be bugs, because
fire danger is high up here right now.
No, I think that is smoke.
Okay, I see the white.
I guess we'll figure it out when we get closer.
We have confirmed it is smoke.
I don't know from what.
I hope it's not the woods on fire.
I thought there was kind of a burn
everywhere right now.
But maybe...
It's definitely smoke.
It is a control burn.
I hope it's control.
That's the woods and it's on fire.
Is there people over there?
I don't know. There's gotta be.
I don't see no people over there.
I don't see no people over there either.
That's not a control burn.
Okay, I guess I'll call 911.
You guys just saw the fire that we saw on the side of the road.
There was nobody around.
There was no trucks. There was no people. There was no nothing.
Which led Jamie and I to both believe
that was not a control burn.
So to be sure, we called 911
and they had no idea.
Normally if it's a control burn,
they'll know that there's a control burn happening.
So we told them where it was.
They actually knew where it was.
It's like I told Jessica.
If it was that close to the road, that big,
they'd have signs out.
If it was control, they wouldn't want people to call.
There would be people around.
If it was control, we would have seen trucks, we would have seen people.
But there was nothing.
Nobody around.
So we did call 911 and they are sending the fire department out right now.
So hopefully,
we stopped a major forest fire from happening.
That was getting big.
That was big. It could get real big.
And where it was, it was a bunch of down dead...
It looked like down dead trees.
So that's gonna spread pretty quick.
So hopefully we don't see it later
on the news that there was a big
multi-acre. And I guess maybe
on the way home, like Jamie said, we go that way home.
I guess we'll... If we remember, we'll look
and see how big it got.
It was spread in a circle.
A perfect circle.
Whatever ignition source was
the sole spark.
And it just grew from there.
Luckily it was, like Jess said, in a lot of the down trees.
There wasn't the big trees around.
Right, right.
If it gets to those bigger trees... And it's not windy today.
Right. It would be much harder to put out.
Yeah.
Yeah, I think regardless, they're gonna
have...
We'll probably see Newberry fire department.
We were kind of looking to see if the fire department from Newberry would come this way.
Because Newberry is not that far up here.
It's like 20 miles. That's still a ways.
I assume Trout Lake has a fire department.
You're right. I bet it's Trout Lake fire department.
That'll go.
They probably do, but I think that they're gonna want help.
Yeah. Maybe not.
It's hard to say.
Honestly, I think when there's a forest fire,
everybody gets called.
Yeah, yeah.
And then they let people go.
They go, now we don't need you. Go back.
So we don't know, but we called 911
and I'm glad we did.
We kind of both looked at each other and I went, I'm just gonna call.
Because sometimes it's better to just call
than go, look how many people were in front of us
that drove by and nobody had called.
Like they didn't.
Nobody else called.
I'm glad I called.
There had to have been at least 20 other people and then countless others after us.
Yeah.
I'm glad we called.
We did the right thing.
There he goes. Volunteer fire department.
Oh man.
Well,
they're sending a volunteer guy.
So,
there they go.
We made it to the campground.
Jamie's unhooking his Jeep and if nobody
comes to this site, I think we're gonna have a view
of the lake the whole time we're here.
Which would be cool. More people could come be
next to us. I don't know if that's gonna happen or not, but maybe.
Hi.
I know, soon enough. I know, that's not
soon enough. You ate half your lunch
but you didn't want to finish it because it wasn't warm
and I didn't want to turn the generator on.
So I will give the rest of it to you as soon as we get parked.
We have arrived.
We already took the dogs for a
short little tiny walk to stretch their legs.
We haven't even leveled the rig yet.
Jamie's getting ready to do that.
I did not ask you for the woos.
She's like, I don't care. I'm giving them to you.
Don't trip to Memphis.
Alright, we're gonna see if we can get this thing level.
Mom and dad are already pretty much set up. They're right there.
And then I was wrong. I was backwards.
They get the lake view. I can see the lake
from the windows. It's over there.
That's Musco Lounge Lake.
Does it feel good being out here?
It's funny. I'm looking at you and I'm looking at the rig
behind you going, that's a nice one too.
It's bigger than ours. Oh yeah.
It's not a Jayco. I don't want
that one.
I do love my Jaycos.
Memphis is in her happy place.
Memphis is happy.
Eleanor is happy. Kira is happy.
We got the awning fixed. I don't even think
we showed it, but the motor seized on it
because the caps
on the end broke. So we got to... Jamie
says he can print some.
We got it fixed thanks to
Gemini. Indy is over there chilling.
Look at her. Indy, I see you.
Stay over there.
In her little tent.
Dad's cooking chili.
Cooking chili.
Sounds good to me. What is going on?
I walked in here
and you
were up there.
I didn't think you'd actually get up there anymore.
But you did it.
And then you came down those steps like nothing.
I'm proud of you.
She's like, hold on. I got to sit. Yeah, me too
after watching that. Holy cow.
My goodness. We were over there eating our chili
and I thought I saw her through the window.
They were sound asleep in here.
And then the next thing I knew
she was up here. Crazy doggos.
Are you loaded in there?
Got the dogs in the Jeep.
We're going to go down to the lake. At least for a little bit.
Somehow I ended up with all three dogs for a second.
Look.
Look how pretty it is.
It's so pretty.
Alright, we're going to go down there.
We're waiting for dad. He's coming back.
This is the Deer Park
Life Saving Station overlook.
There it is.
There's Superior.
We're going down to the lake, Eleanor.
I know, you should have your harnesses on.
But you don't.
Would you guys believe me
if I said I was walking all three of these dogs by myself?
Cause I'm not.
Jamie's got a hand on him as well.
I know, I forgot my belt.
There's the old stair ramp.
Wow, this is crazy.
You can still go up and down the other side.
So that's how you used to go down.
Which was kind of crazy.
And now there's this...
Now there's this boardwalk.
Bless you.
Which moves.
I'm not sure how I feel about any of this.
Ok, we're moving.
This is crazy.
So the other staircase
was over there.
And it fell apart in the ice.
Did a squirrel go there?
Probably. It fell apart in the ice.
And then, like we were saying,
there's the hill right there that used to have to come down.
Look at the angle of that hill.
That was the hill you used to have to walk down.
Which wasn't bad.
But now...
I feel like this should be a roller coaster.
It's about what it's built on.
Yeah.
That's kind of crazy.
One, two, three, four, five.
Two by twelve at least.
Well, the nice thing about where this is though,
the water is way over there, so I don't think the ice
is going to take this one out anytime soon.
More than nice to get the sand off.
Sand off. Oh yeah.
There you go.
So it's not 100%
ADA accessible.
I mean, you might be able...
Yeah, but they have those mats
that, like if you have a wheelchair, you can get out
on the beach.
On this?
Ok.
Yeah, maybe.
But that is crazy.
Oh nice.
Alright, come on. Let's go.
So, they have us come down
that awesome boardwalk.
But then, this
is all falling apart.
So...
Yeah, that's kind of ridiculous.
I mean, we can.
We can. Not everybody can.
Oh no, you're going to get wet now.
Yeah.
Well, she's in the water.
You're in the water.
And he's like, I'm going this way on an adventure.
Memphis just wants in the water,
but I don't really want to get all wet.
No.
It comes up high enough for her.
I think.
Here, if you come over here, I can get you closer.
Come over here, I'll get you closer.
I know, it feels good.
Woo!
Don't fall in that hole.
I don't know.
We're going somewhere.
Look, rocks!
We found some. We win the game.
There's some rocks.
I know Memphis.
Sand is hard.
We got this.
Check out that view.
That view kind of cannot be beat.
I said, that view really can't be beat.
I think the craziest thing about this,
is when it comes to agates,
I can see them.
That's one right there.
I can see them.
Just in the shore.
Some of them are tiny. I found a good one.
I'll show it to you when we get back.
But for some reason,
I can see them pretty good.
It's kind of nice.
Ma'am!
I was behind you.
Me too.
You dug that hole and I was behind you.
Look out, here she goes.
Oh my lord!
Look at you!
She's like,
I'm going to find a rock dad.
I'm pretty sure there's a rock down here.
She's like, I'm finding them.
Did you find a rock?
Did you find it?
Yeah! Find it!
Holy cow!
Wow!
Did you find it?
She's looking at that dog.
She's like, no Indy, this is mine.
Look out Kira!
What happened?
Did you get distracted by the dog?
That dog is not taking your hole either.
He's not taking it.
I promise.
I'll stand back here,
with hopes to have less dirt thrown at me.
Although she got me,
Memphis and Kira.
Look out grandpa, she'll get you too.
Look, she found rocks.
She's like, look dad, I was helping.
She's like, get out of my hole.
That is mine.
Oh yeah, sure is.
Don't eat it! Don't eat it!
She's like, oh right here?
Look out Memphis!
Oh my goodness!
Her favorite thing in the world.
Digging on the beach.
And yes, we'll fill in the hole.
Ok, that's a cool one.
We'll show you all the finds,
when we get back, but that's really cool.
Also, that's really cool.
Hey!
I'm trying to walk all three of you.
What we're not trying to do,
is chase the cobra chicken.
Lone cobra chicken on the beach.
Spotted by all three.
Is that the suspect?
Suspect?
Suspect is going that way.
We're not...
We're not going to engage with suspect.
We're leaving the cobra chicken alone.
I know, he's a cobra chicken.
He's over there.
He's probably got babies over there, so let's not.
Also,
look at that.
You can sit here all day.
Yeah, I think I can sit here all day.
Every time I think, I get them to forget about the cobra chicken.
This one,
turns around to go towards cobra chicken.
Kira's like, I belong on the outside.
Memphis is like, stop bumping into me.
This is a lot for Memphis to walk on.
We're not actually walking very far.
Oh, look a chair.
Nature's chair.
That's for me. Let's go over there.
That's for you and me Memphis.
Nature's chair.
We're all laid down.
It's pretty nice out here.
Oh yeah!
It's pretty nice.
Jamie's got his light out. I see it.
Oh, mom's got her light out too.
Looking for them glowing rocks.
How did you all get so good all of a sudden?
I don't know, but we'll take it.
We will take it.
There's less bugs over here than there was over there,
where I was trying to take pictures.
I was sitting over there and it was bad.
It's not as bad over here.
Look how good they're being.
And he's like,
but there's Jamie.
Eleanor's like,
yeah no, that's my dad.
Look what Indy learned how to do.
And yes, Eleanor's mad.
Are you mad?
Are you jealous?
She's like, but I wanted to dig in that hole.
Well, the hole's over there silly.
Oh stop.
You crazy dog.
She really figured it out.
She's like, this is great.
I'm allowed to do this?
Yeah, that's how you do it.
You dig the hole, you lay in it.
I love how she looks for approval.
She's like, did I do it?
You did it girl.
You did it.
Yeah, get it Indy.
Get it.
Stop it.
She's having a good time.
Having a good time.
We're heading back to the car.
I have three glowing orbs
on the pathway.
I have Memphis on my hand.
I'm sure you guys can't see because it's dark.
Trying to keep the other two going slow.
That was a bit of a walk for Memphis.
I figured if I have her in my hand,
she can kind of more go at the pace she wants.
Except she wants to walk at the pace these two are walking.
And they don't want to slow down.
I know Memphis.
Oh, now you're going to slow down?
Weird.
Is that how we proved she had an epic day?
Hopefully she brushed off a bunch of the sand
I was planning on coming in and brushing off of her.
Let's see if it's covered in it.
Where's Elmore?
Oh, you brought all the sand to bed.
Good job.
Did you see him?
That guy's got pitter patters.
Yeah.
Did you bring all the sand to bed?
Good job.
That little dog is still barking next door.
And we're not even out there.
Did you learn that from Memphis?
Not the licky part.
The tippy part.
She looks like she's going to bite you.
She's like, I'm so going to get you.
There we go.
Oh, you got your lights on still.
Yeah, they all do.
I brought them in here and then we went back outside
to talk to mom and dad and I forgot to turn their lights off.
These two are adorable.
Too cute.
One of my favorite parts about coming up here.
You can order this online.
If you guys ever want to try this,
you can actually order it online.
And if you want to see what it looks like,
hold on.
It's trinary toast and it's hard as a rock.
And I don't know why I love it so much.
Most people dip it in coffee.
I love it like this.
It's like a cinnamon crouton.
Cinnamon sugar crouton.
Look, it's like a micro rock haul.
I picked up big rocks.
You did pick up big rocks and you found that cool shell
and you found a couple agates.
I did.
I found an agate and an agate.
And that one.
And that agate.
And I found the...
You can get your light out while I'm doing it.
I found an agate.
That's really cool.
And then I found this agate.
We have to cut this open.
I want to cut it open.
I found the tiniest
Omar on the planet and then watch.
There's an Omar.
Look.
A bunch of little pieces of agates.
And then...
It's this one.
It's got like one little spot.
I found that while walking the dogs back to the car.
While you guys were looking for them.
I just took my light and swung it around.
Jamie didn't find any glowy rocks.
I found one.
I did not find any glowy rocks.
But you found an agate.
And you almost never find agates.
You never find agates.
I think that was more of a win.
That is really cool.
The dark band you see
is the ribbons.
And then there's a white band
right above it.
And that band goes
all the way around.
And it's a bunch of little layers.
Let's see if we can get really close.
We might be able to. Hold on.
Oh look. We did it.
As soon as we move
it doesn't want to stay focused.
So if you follow the black band
there's a white band right next to it.
And then the little
three white dots, that's more
the inside.
And then that goes up.
Try to be quick.
That's too cool.
Look at this one.
My fingernails are dirty.
The sand. There it is.
That's a really cool
agate that Jamie found.
And those circles go all the way through.
That's so cool.
That's hard.
She's fluffing it.
Mom built me this mini couch.
You gonna lay up there?
Are you gonna
Are you gonna try to circle up there
and then you're gonna lay up there?
Oh my goodness. Are you really trying to do your
circles on that little tiny couch?
That's adorable.
So we got Memphis fluffing
and Eleanor circling.
She's still fluffing.
She's like, I fluffed this couch.
It's not really a couch.
I'm pretending it's a couch.
It was cute. I thought it was cute.
And then Kira's over here and she's like
we're done. Let's go to bed.
Alright you guys.
We hope you enjoyed today's video. As always, thanks so much for watching.
Thanks for subscribing. Stay positive and we'll see you
again soon.
Good night Pawdience!
