Hey YouTube, this is David with Mythical History. We are doing the library tour today and I've
had several people ask to do a tour of the library. I tried to do this where it faces me
on the camera side of my phone but unfortunately when you're recording you can't actually turn the,
can't flip the camera around it doesn't seem like. So at least I couldn't figure out how to do it.
So what you're looking at here is what I look at whenever I'm recording my videos. This is my
computer system here and I have the camera which is right over here on this side. A little bit of
a Lord of the Rings picture there. So to my right is some general books. This is going to be kind of
a messy tour. I haven't cleaned everything up. There's a little bit of fantasy in there. There's
a little bit of theology and history. I've got some miniature stuff that I use for gaming here
on the bottom. As I move around to this side, we'll start over here. I have the reference books.
These are dictionaries, commentaries, well not commentaries, dictionaries, handbooks,
things of that nature, language studies, background studies. Kind of coming on around
we have our spirituality from all across history. Then we have biography as it comes up into this
particular section. Here's my spirituality and then we have the biography section up there.
Moving on down is my wife's books. She actually teaches children's literature and these are some
of the young adult literature pieces that she's collected over the years. And as I move on around
I have a copy there of the Leningrad Codex. That is the oldest Hebrew manuscript. It's part of the
Masoretic tradition. I have a couple more pieces in the back. Some of my pipe pieces that are up here
and I have a few jars of tobacco. Of course I have the my chess set right here that I really
never get to play but it's fun just to have it. Someday I'll get a chance to play it.
Somebody will come over and smoke a pipe with me and play. But these are also my wife's other books.
Young adult fiction right in this area is the Tolkien and some of the C.S. Lewis books. A lot of
other young adult fiction kind of books, fantasy, which I still like to read even those. And here
in the last two sections these are the literature area. Kind of literary theory, reading, myths.
This section right here is really puts a lot of myths across the world. Anywhere from India, Irish,
American, Indian, things of that nature. And coming on around here, well let me show you one
other thing. A little section right here right behind my camera. I don't know if you can see it
as well but I have a lot of my pipes I've kind of put in there or some of them. That's my things
that I can just grab very quickly. As we move into the other area here is a little hallway that you
usually see behind me. And on the top there, 60 Conan books. Conan the Barbarian goes all the way
from the very first edition. Other fantasy literature and some other paperback books on
that side. And this side there's F.W. Boreham. He was a great writer. Wrote about just things that
happened during the day to him and he could actually make lessons from it. There's some
Aspergian sermons and other different commentaries and of course has some more fantasy literature on
the bottom. So we move on around here. Here's my little bit of saving dish. I have my heat dish
because it is so cold down here. I got to have something to heat myself so I can pull that over.
This wall here is actually the commentary wall and you can see you have some of the
the great works of the western world there on the bottom. And right here in the front
these are the early church fathers. The Nicene, Post-Nicene and I think Pre-Nicene
fathers. So that deals the first 200, 300 years of Christianity. Some of the early writings.
A lot of these are my commentaries. They go from Genesis to Revelation and then it kind of goes on
down back in this area here with New Testament, Old Testament and other different type of biblical
cultures and things of that nature. On this side you see we kind of go back into the area where I
sit but this is just a mismatch of books that I've collected over the years. Not really just general
studies I guess. Kind of coming on over here have some world religion section that's up in this area
and then on this side there is philosophy and some history along with some other commentaries.
There's a theology section that's right up in this area right here. The back wall well we'll just
come in here this right here was kind of the world religions but then you get into
the area of philosophy and apologetics and that deals with all you know whether it's cultural,
scientific, other apologetics and I have some of my science books here. This back wall is church
history. Starts from more contemporary down in this area. It goes back in time to the
reformation back to the renaissance. Goes on around here and you can see this is more early
kind of the early classical period. There's some commentaries up there in the top that one is the
Winston Churchill. This section right up in here Winston Churchill's
his history and some of the great books and then as you're going around you'll find different
world history books up in this area and then I have a lot of textbooks that are back here in
the back. I hate to show this part. This is the section I'm about to clean out but it actually
goes back in here. It goes under the stairwell and I'm going to put a light in here build another
bookcase and that's going to kind of become in my reading area once I get all the junk
out of that. But yeah here's some of the church history world history sections and over there in
the very far corner some of the systematic theologies and things of that nature. We kind
of make a full circle here to come back to as I said New and Old Testament and this is the
commentary wall. Still have stuff on the ground and on this side there is other theological studies
that's more topically based. I have some bigger sets up here that deal with some of the ancient
near east and I love this set that's down here. I've got to put it in a better position but that's
the Cambridge ancient history set. It goes all the way back from about 5000 BC and just keeps
going forward up into the middle ages so it's a wonderful set to have. So that kind of represents
this particular room the two sides of it but I can go out in here into the other part of the library.
This is the what I've called the thinking board. I write all my I guess odd things that I think of
on that it's easier for me to think. I also like doing doing math so I'll write problems up there
and solve them but these are some other general studies that I have. I just haven't quite these
are kind of more the inner intertestamental the second temple studies. It kind of goes down here
to some general studies that I have on some more contemporary stuff some of the science. I haven't
been able to really categorize those yet. Moving over to this side these are some other books that
are in fantasy literature and let's see there's the Ranger's Apprentice. I don't know if you're
familiar with any of those but that's great great works in that. I'm actually looking at taking this
whole wall right here and moving all of that out and just build bookcases from the floor to the
ceiling. I can get more books in there maybe get some books up off the ground. Here's the Sickness
Continues. It goes over here and again here's just some general books. Here's a lot of my
language studies that I have the Old New Testament the original languages and it's great to have
access to those things some of the grammars. Again you see some of the mess here. Here's some
of the things I've created for the game that I have medieval game just a couple landscapes I enjoy
doing those. These are some of my wife's kids books. These are kind of the picture books that
she uses. Some more books on the top and and then we come back around here and this is the gaming
room. Got some of the you can tell how much of a geek I am. I actually have the Dwarven Forge stuff.
You put these together and I would say that the game that I play is kind of like chess on steroids.
You're moving tactical movement little board there map that I created for the game one of the towns
and have a game table here and this is a lot of my fantasy literature is in here besides what I
showed you in the other room but these are the Harry Potter and
the Dragons Winter Night and Weiss Hickman and it's got all kinds of all kinds of great fantasy
literature. There's the Robert Jordan World of Time series on the top there and the RA Salvatore.
There's just the Hobbit of course. I got a couple of those similarly in kind of moving on around.
You can see back to the back part there again my geekdom knows no limits. I have tapestries. If I
could have tapestries and a rock wall that'd be great. Here's actually some of the miniatures that
I've had a chance to to paint and use some of those in the game but yeah that pretty much is
kind of the the whirlwind tour there. Kind of move you back around over here. There's always a need
I think for more bookcases it seems like but here's a small one that I just have some old some
games in things of that nature but yes this is the library. Hopefully I'm not going too fast and
making you dizzy but that kind of represents everything that we have. I do have another
sitting area and some more books upstairs in the bedroom. I'll actually put a let's put a picture
up right now and you can kind of see what it is. I made a little seating area had an extra chair
and it was nice to just to be able to put some some of the newest books and that really is more
of the ones I've just kind of recently acquired and they're more in the area of science and
history the enlightenment things of that nature but you can see my love for fall. I've already
kind of decorated for fall. It is the end of July and we're quite a ways from that but
still want to want to decorate. So anyways that is the extent of the library. Any questions let
me know but I will try and get my next video out here soon. It looks it's kind of odd whenever you
just kind of scan around but yeah hopefully you enjoyed that and we'll we'll talk to you soon.
Take care.
