Welcome to The Housley Farm: We Let Our Kids Design Their Dream Farm. 🏡
This week we handed the vision over to Aden and Ariah and let them dream up their perfect farm with no budget and no limits. From a zip line across the property to ideas we never saw coming, they got real creative and showed us exactly what they want this place to become.
Some of the best moments out here are the ones we never plan for, and watching our kids light up over their own wild ideas was the highlight of the whole week. Building this dream home in the country has a way of reminding us that the magic is usually in the unexpected.
Letting Aden and Ariah lead this one was a reminder that their imaginations might just be the best blueprint we’ve got.
Thank you for being part of this journey with our family. Be sure to like, subscribe, and turn on notifications so you never miss an episode.
A family begins planning their farm layout by inviting their children to pitch their \"dream\" additions. Using a \"Pond Tank\" (Shark Tank style) format, the children present various imaginative ideas to their parents, who eventually agree to fund a sport court and a fishing dock.
They said have children.
And then they said build a farm.
I'm questioning both.
But yet, here we are.
So we've started the inside demo.
Get it. Get it.
Get it.
Same spot.
Nice job, Rye.
But the big demo where you knock the walls down,
we're still waiting on that because of a
permit, which is supposed to be coming in this week.
It's a minor detail, but in the meantime
we do have to plan out the farm.
We do. What better way to do that
than to actually
ask the kids.
Well the idea is to have the kids
take part obviously in the farm since they're gonna
be growing up on the farm.
So there's some rules, right? No!
I want the kids to be
100% honest.
You guys, no budgets.
Mini rollercoaster!
Dream big.
A zipline that goes to my workshop.
No limits.
I'm not done!
Just go for it.
Yes. I have a question.
So can I ask
for the Incredicoaster in our
backyard? Ask for whatever
you think you might want to add to our property.
I want you to dream big.
I want you to not think of
a budget. No limits.
But there is one rule.
It has to make sense for the farm.
No Incredicoaster.
We got you guys some storyboards.
We have you guys some
markers. So before we go out to the property
for you guys to kind of plot it all,
we want you to get your ideas down on paper.
Alright? Alright. I'm ready.
Can we do this Shark Tank style?
So at the end, they're gonna pitch
their ideas to the Shark Tank.
Alright, ready, set, go!
Alright, so we've got some
materials for you guys
to plot out your plan.
There's yours. I have
extras in case you screw up, but don't screw up.
Then I've got
some Crayolas.
You have to share with your brother.
And I believe in the both of you because I've seen
your drawings and you both can draw pretty
well.
A zipline to
our treehouses. That's what
I was saying. A zipline.
One treehouse and then another treehouse.
Then a zipline from one treehouse to the other treehouse.
And then another zipline
that goes... I was thinking
I had a dream about having a zipline
that goes over the pond.
That would be sexier-y.
How do you spell rollercoaster?
I'm doing a golf
cart racetrack.
It's like we can race our golf carts
like we're probably gonna have
like two to go up the hill.
And I'm gonna ask for
like a racetrack for them so me
and my brother can race.
I need to add some gems.
If I add gems, maybe
it'll look pretty enough that my parents
will agree to add
my ideas.
And the last gemstones
for something special.
Just to make you look more pretty.
And you.
I'm a star.
Okay, with my sparkle on
I'm ready
to see what you guys put together
on the property. You ready?
Alright, let's go.
We're down here at the property.
I think they're gonna be really excited to
share their ideas. And I am.
I wanna see what's in their
brains.
And they
I mean I saw a little bit. I think they
have pretty cool ideas. I wanna see
how much money they think we have.
That simple. I'm just gonna let
you know, Aiden thinks we're like
really, really, really, really rich.
But we thought it would be important to
be here at the
property to properly
hear their ideas. Because
after they tell us, we want
them to show us. We want
their vision on location
at the property. So what better
place to have our version of shark tank
than at the pond? So it's
officially, pond being right there,
pond tank.
So are we bass
or are we
crappie? Or bluegill?
Bluegill? No, we're bass. I'm bass.
You're bass. They're a largemouth.
Catfish.
You're a bottom feeder?
So, first up,
Araya.
Araya!
Okay, so first up
is the slide. My second
idea is
the golf cart
racetrack. I want
me and Aiden to have a race
or me and my friends to have a race
with our golf carts.
Electric golf carts to get up to
hills and down hills. But I want a
racetrack just made for them.
As you can see, a racetrack is drawn there.
Next one is, oh!
Zipline!
I want a zipline.
I want two tree houses.
One tree house here, one tree house here.
And then a zipline to each one.
You know in Home Alone where he goes like,
instead of him coming from the
house, I want it to come from the other
tree house to zipline across.
And that's a little seat you can hold
on and go.
Four!
Dirt bike road.
That we can do. The dock!
I want a dock for fishing.
Mini rollercoaster!
She knocked it out of my hand.
That is not happening.
Next one, mini rollercoaster.
So sadly, it won't be
the Incredicoaster or Gardens
of the Galaxy or something at Six Flags.
Can you imagine if even we could do that in the county?
I mean, we can't even get a permit to get our driveway fixed.
But can you imagine just getting an Incredicoaster?
We did, in her defense, we said
dream big.
And no limits.
I'm just saying that the county is going to say there's a limit.
I want a mini rollercoaster.
It doesn't have to
be crazy upside down
because that's going to be a little
more expensive.
I'm not done!
I have a
sport court. That's a volleyball
net and basketball.
And that can also be a pickleball
net. If you take down the pools,
you can make it a pickleball.
Oh, I like that.
And next one. There's more?
Last but not least.
Treehouse times two. But you got your treehouses over here.
I know, but that's the zip line.
Oh.
This is the treehouse separate. Treehouse
times two.
So you want four.
I'm not done.
There's actually one more that I
forgot to say.
Last but not least.
Oh, by the way, I put a little bedazzle on here.
And
the zip line slides down
the hill. So Mommy,
what particularly on this
list, is there anything that stands out to you as being
a positive? Sport court
is an amazing idea.
I love the dock
for the fishing. Yep, there's two.
I love
the
you can point here
and here
the golf cart track.
No. No.
Yes, because we need
tracks. They want to do a golf cart racetrack.
Oh, no. No, no, no.
I would love to invest in the
sport court
and the dock for the
fishing. Maybe
the dirt bike road. I would say
Mine on the zip line.
Nice to meet you. Nice to meet you.
Your ideas are somewhat okay.
I think it went pretty good.
I'm pretty
sad about the
zip line. I wish
we could have had a zip line.
And I'm happy about the sport
court and the dirt bike road
and the fishing
deck, wherever that
oh, that. I'm
happy that they said yes to a tree
house. I wish they said yes to two
so we can add the zip line.
But that's okay. At least I have
one tree house. Maybe one
day we'll get a zip line. And
hopefully a mini roller coaster.
Aiden!
John Tanner. You're up, bro.
You're up. My pitch is
I want a workshop
for the build things
and work on my fishing poles.
Second thing is
a dirt bike. It can help me
get around easier.
For example, if you
said, go get the mail.
Or go get the eggs.
And I was
too lazy to go get the pilars.
I just get on the dirt bike and
it goes like 50 miles per hour and I'll just go
down there and get the eggs and come back. My next pitch
is an off-road
track. Like
Kyle Rice said, not a racing
one, kind of, but for
dirt bikes and ATVs.
And then we have the off-road golf
cart. Next. The sport
court. Okay.
I love sport courts.
That was cute. Next
we have the fishing dock so I don't have
to fight my way to get into
the weeds and fight off ticks.
And also it's easier to land the fish.
Okay. Instead of sticking a net
through. You and Arai have some of the similar ideas. I know, this is interesting.
Got a treehouse
but I heard you guys say absolutely
not to.
A zip line that goes to my workshop.
Okay.
And
an off, you're gonna like
this one, both of you guys. Okay.
I know how much you love your walking.
An off-road
trail
for like walking. I can
like ride the dirt bike. I can ride the
like off-road golf cart.
You guys can walk like I was planning on
having like start right here and go like up the
pond to the house instead of
going on that ugly road.
I just have to say what's
really sweet about that
is
you thought of us within your
ideas. I actually love the idea of
having a workshop for you. I love that.
And I forgot to add
a couple things of
a batting cage inside the barn. Oh my
gosh, so there's more. You want a batting
cage? Well, thank you for coming. It's been
nice meeting you.
Will you accept my... Let us think
about it. You actually gave us a lot to
think about. Thank you. Bye.
Bye. Thank you.
And keep going further away
so you don't hear us talk. I think it went pretty good
but knowing them, knowing my mom
too, they're probably not going to give me the
dirt bike. One, my mom doesn't like me
getting hurt but I won't get hurt
which is still fun. Yeah.
Alright, we can always
do more. Okay. I think to start
we pick one for each and say
we can do that and then they go show us what they want to do.
Let's do the sport court for Araya
and the pond dock for Aiden. Yeah.
I said we've had time to consult
and discuss
contemplate
and
see what makes sense. Your mother and I have come up
with one idea we like from
each of you. Now we may
eventually do more but for now
we each get one thing. Listen to me
there's a couple of things that we're not choosing for
you guys that I think are probably a possibility
but for today
you get the dock
and Araya
I forgot.
You get the sport court.
You have to share them. Yes. We will invest
in a sport court. In those two
ideas. And a dock.
And a dock. So show
us what you guys were thinking. Where are you going to put them?
We already have an idea but
where would you put them and how would they look?
I was planning on putting the
dock where
it had the most weeds.
Like the most weeds and muck
because the fish are going to be
hiding near the muck
and I want to have easier access to it
than fighting through the weeds.
So what I was planning on is
and also to have easy access
right here, right by the
pump. Just past the muck.
Yeah, just past the muck. Which is just leaves
that have blown into the pond. Okay. Good.
I like it. I like it. We love that. Alright.
So let us know in the comments
what you think of Aiden's idea. Okay
Araya, show us where yours is.
My vision is
I want the sport court
to be right here
because
it is just close to the house
so if it was down there we would have to
walk all the way down there. And with the
pool right here over there
it would be good to have it just right here
so maybe after we swim
we can play some volleyball or pickleball
or basketball.
I think the color
should be blue, white
for the outlines, blue for the
floor, and maybe a pink
volleyball net. Okay
so we secured two
amazing ideas from the kids
for our farm. So if you were in the pond tank
with us and you heard their two pitches
what would you decide?
Put it in the comments down below.
And make sure you hit that subscribe
button. And like it and hit
the bell button. And watch it over
and over again.
It helps us afford this.
Bye guys!
See you next time!
