Republicans REVOLT Over Mike Johnson’s Insane Budget
Mike Johnson is trying to rally House Republicans behind Trump’s $350 billion Pentagon spending package, but GOP lawmakers are already warning that the required cuts could be politically disastrous with the midterms approaching. Farron Cousins breaks this down.

We just talked about the Republicans in the Senate, obviously not going Trump's way.
But what about the Republicans in the House? Because they also had a meeting yesterday,
right? It wasn't just the Senate Republicans that got to have fun. No, Mike Johnson called a meeting
of his Republicans from the House of Representatives on Wednesday to try to get
all his ducks in a row because right now he is facing two warring factions in the House.
The small faction is of course the MAGA diehards who are mad that Johnson is not getting all of
Donald Trump's agenda passed. And the other faction is the normal Republicans who are mad
that Mike Johnson is only trying to follow Trump's agenda and not doing important things.
But right now, Mike Johnson has only one concern. Donald Trump wants billions of more dollars for
the Pentagon for the rest of this year, $350 billion to be exact, and he needs to get that
reconciliation bill passed. So this reconciliation bill that would provide $350 billion additional
dollars to the Pentagon for the rest of this year is sitting in limbo because Republicans don't want
to pass it. And the reason they don't want to pass it is because, because it's reconciliation,
any additional spending has to of course be offset with spending cuts. So if they're giving $350
billion to the Pentagon, they have to cut $350 billion somewhere else. The problem Mike Johnson
has, however, is that he never told all these other House Republicans that he's desperately
trying to get to support the bill, what he's cutting. Now, I know you think that's a little
odd, right? I get it if you don't tell the other side what you're going to be cutting until the
bill comes to the floor, right? You know, surprise them at the last second, try to screw them over.
But this is your own party, buddy. Okay? The bill's ready. You have it. You know what the
cuts are. You're just not even telling your own people and it's pissing them off. Let me read you
a couple of quotes from Republicans in the House about how angry they are. Republican Representative
Tom Cole from Oklahoma said, I think that's very problematic. Cuts in what? And tell me where those
cuts are. Republican Representative Steve Womack said that you should count him as skeptical of
proposal and Representative Ken Calvert from California suggested backing significant spending
cuts just months from the midterm elections was quote, going to be difficult. You see,
I love that quote in particular because it shows that Republicans love cutting programs that
benefit average everyday people and they want to do it, but they also understand we can't do it,
you know, just a few months out from the, the midterms. We'll, we'll get punished for it. So
we want to do the cuts. We hate poor people, but we can't do it right now because for the next few
months we have to pretend that we like poor people. So, you know, it's a balancing act.
God, I hate them so much. Genuine, pure hatred because that's what they have
for working class Americans. Representative Mike Lawler, when asked if he thought the bill was
going to pass, he said, eh, we'll see. But he wasn't optimistic. And then of course,
Republican Representative David Valadao said the odds are not looking good. So
Mike Johnson can't get anything done as per usual. He's got the entirety of his Republican
caucus pissed off at him because he is such a complete and total failure. And he doesn't know
how to get himself out of it because he refuses to be honest. He refuses to be open. He refuses
to be transparent. But most importantly, he refuses to grow a spine and stand up to Donald
Trump. The Pentagon does not need an extra $350 billion this year. What are they going to do with
it? Waste it? Let drunken Pete Hegseth go fire off more, you know, multimillion dollar missiles
in a single day and still lose? Yeah. If it were up to me, Pentagon wouldn't get another dime for
the next decade because they clearly aren't doing anything productive with any of that money.
