Hello, welcome back to my channel. My name is Ewa and I am a mom of four children.
And on this channel we're cooking from scratch,
taking care of the garden, from the garden to the table
and all from living in Canada. Today in today's video we are going to
cook from scratch, gardening and have a deep talk as always.
This time of the year where everything goes
50% off or so. So I couldn't help myself and I got three
pepper plants. Peppers are expensive. They are like
seven bucks for like three and now they are $2.50
discounted from five bucks. Now I just have to
find some room for them but I kind of have idea
where I'm gonna put them. This trailer was
full of soil and now I had to scrub everything what's left but it was enough
for those two containers where I'm going to put
one pepper in each and the last third pepper I am going to put in my main
garden. I hope it's not gonna be too crowded.
The other two green peppers, they still did not start
growing very well. They are even smaller than the one I bought
but as they grow, because they will grow, right?
The peppers, they like to grow roots first, not the leaves. Plus the weather
was a little bit off. It was nice and sunny but not super
hot yet. So I'm hoping in July things will speed
up much much faster. I cannot express my
excitement over those three peppers. They look
great and I really really hope that they will grow
amazing. My little boy, he's such a helper guys.
Whenever I do some kind of manual work he's always there to help and he does
his best. I don't have a footage of it but
when I was putting that soil in a wagon and then carry that to another
spot he was pulling that wagon. He could barely
you know pull it because he's small, he's only three
but he tried so hard. It's absolutely amazing.
Yes, definitely little helper. I had such a good footage recorded me
planting those peppers but my little boy came in
with underwear only. So maybe I shouldn't post him like that even that he's only
three. So yeah, only a little bit here
but I hope you enjoy it. Also let me know in the comments down below,
I don't know if I asked you that yet, are you buying
any more plants this year or you are happy
with what you have? As I probably mentioned a million times in this video
there is still time for you to buy some more. For dinner I am making
enchiladas. I must say enchiladas are one of my
favorite. I know that recipes usually call for
shredded chicken but I kind of cut it and
made it like that. But yeah, shredded is definitely the way you
want to go. I add quite a decent amount of spices in
there. It was kind of spicy but the kids were so hungry that they
did not complain and they ate everything.
It is a really beautiful day today. It's finally getting like
close to 30 degrees so I'm hoping that the peppers are just gonna
grow like crazy now. I hope they, you know, establish well, grow the roots and I'm
gonna have a lot of peppers because I think I already mentioned
peppers are like seven dollars for like three right now
or you know per pound whatever it is. So it's kind of crazy and I am also
worried about the pesticles and all those stuff so I am really happy
that I got it. And to be honest with you I always feel
like so overly dramatic when I say grow your own
food now before it's too late and stuff like that. But
it's kind of true, you know, like with the grocery prices going
up and nothing's getting better. I feel like it is your last chance to
grow your own food this season. So if you are in the
grocery store or whatnot I encourage you to buy something and
plant something. Everything is discounted right now and more
affordable so go ahead. But as we speak I am going to
pick up my strawberries. They're kind of growing slow.
You know I feel like the season's already like ending
and mine are just so tiny. Look at that. This is such a...
oh my hair on it already. Such a tiny tiny one.
Seriously, look at this. I think that's the wild one. You know the
wild strawberries? I had quite a bit of them. So this broke
the other day. My son did it. But it's still
getting red. Oh these mosquitoes are crazy.
And unwashed. It's really good. Oh my gosh. I'm gonna put it back.
Perhaps eating them I should give it to my kids.
They're definitely gonna like it. So I don't have that many strawberries.
They are all wild. I mean wild. They're all planted
by themselves. I did not do it. But they are growing.
And weeds. Always weeds guys. And swell. So many weeds. Weeds out.
So yeah I'm bringing home one strawberry. Or should I eat it? Should I share with
my kids? Or should I eat it? Maybe I will just eat
it. Oh that was so sweet. I remember as a
child going to like a forest
and picking up blueberries. Putting them on a fresh bun with butter and just
eating that right there in the forest. Unwashed.
You know full of dirt. And maybe some bugs. Who knows.
But this is just such a time of my childhood you know.
So yeah I really like that. So again grow your own food. Go to grocery
store and buy what you can. Until you can. Before the season is over.
So what's ready to eat in my garden? It's definitely the lettuce. We're gonna
grab some for dinner later on. But everything else is growing pretty
good. You can see they're burping over here.
The carrots you can see. I don't know if you can see.
The carrots actually have to thin. The very last thin over there.
On the other side. And yeah one of those sunflowers needs to
go. Look at that cilantro. It's crazy.
And so is the spinach. I'm letting that go to the seeds.
So I can college them for next year. But yeah some of that carrots needs to
be trimmed. It's hard to see.
But they definitely growing big right now.
But every now and then right? Just a little bit longer for the beans.
Can't wait for that one. And yeah one of those needs to go.
I'm just waiting a little bit longer to see which one is better.
But you can see over here. And weeds everywhere.
It's just how it is. Okay now get rid of them.
No matter what you do. Okay I took quite a bit.
It's always so sad to do it. But there is no way they all gonna grow.
If you want them nice and big then you need to sacrifice something.
But come on girls. Look. They don't see me. Come on.
But someone else may eat it. If they pay attention to me.
Kippie. Look. Well maybe they'll find it.
