The new Maxfli Tour X LS is here, and I'm putting it head-to-head against the Tour X with launch monitor data, short game testing, and on-course insights to see what's actually different. If you're considering Maxfli, Vice, Kirkland, Snell, or any direct-to-consumer golf ball, this test will help you decide which ball belongs in your bag.

The Maxfly TourX LS golf ball is finally here.
We've been patient.
We've been excited for a few months
since we first heard about it
when Ben Griffin switched to it.
We weren't sure if it was gonna come to market,
but here it is.
It's released.
I'm gonna pit these head-to-head,
all parameters, test them,
see what the differences are,
see if this thing firmly lives
where Maxfly says it's meant to live
between Tour and TourX,
and ultimately help you make the decision
if it's the best golf ball for you.
Let's get into it.
Maxfly sent me these balls a couple months ago,
so they weren't in the retail box.
I just have the white box,
but we've got the website right here.
And according to Maxfly,
according to their packaging, their marketing,
there's not a lot of difference between these balls
in terms of they're both four-piece.
The compression should be the same.
The ball flight should be the same,
but you should see a little less spin on the driver,
less spin on the irons,
and the same spin around the green.
So even the feel should probably be the same,
but I wanna dive into the numbers first and foremost,
because we wanna know that the golf ball's doing
what it's meant to be doing.
And contextually, Tour and TourX, for my testing,
were very, very similar, very, very close.
So I honestly don't know how TourX LS will fit in between
for me and my testing, but let's find out.
Starting at the sand wedge,
this is just a smooth 56 degree
where I want 10 solid strikes at the same club head speed.
Ball speed, a mile faster in LS,
two yards more in the air because of less spin.
So to me, that's exactly what it should do.
It should spin a little bit less off the irons,
and a smooth three-quarter sand wedge is an iron shot.
And I mean, the parameters are basically the same,
the angle of it, like everything's the same.
The golf balls are doing the exact same thing,
but a touch more ball speed and a touch less spin
gives us a couple more yards in the air.
But with sand wedge,
more distance isn't necessarily what we're looking for.
We want predictability of flight.
And if we look at the dispersion,
it's a little bit tighter dispersion too,
which is actually kind of cool to know.
It means the spin window was closer.
So that's encouraging because wedges,
we want those things dialed.
Good first test for the TourX LS.
Going into seven iron,
this is kind of what I experienced
when I did Tour and TourX.
They're pretty much the same.
Like TourX actually flew further,
had a bit more ball speed.
And that is what we determined when we compared it to Tour.
This is a fast golf ball.
And all testing that has been done on this
by any tester out there,
this is a really fast golf ball.
It's a long golf ball.
The spin is the same.
Like there's 6,204, 6,291.
What more do you want?
And the variety, the consistency of the shots,
they're both great golf balls,
but this thing wasn't spinning less
and we didn't experience the more ball speed
like we did with the Sandwedge.
So it was a bit peculiar to see that.
And if we look at dispersion,
the great golf ball,
the dispersion is arguably the same,
maybe a touch tighter on this,
but we're grasping at straws
because sure it was a touch tighter dispersion
on this with Sandwedge.
It's good dispersion for solidly struck shots
at the same club head speed.
And with driver, we see it spin a little bit less,
but we don't see much else.
These are all 115 miles of club head speed.
The launch angle's the same.
The ball speed, this is one mile faster.
It carries the exact same.
This spun a little bit more.
It speaks more to how good the golf balls are,
not necessarily are they living in the realm
where they say they're meant to live data-wise.
Because I feel like on another day,
the numbers could switch.
Because then if we go to dispersion,
tighter dispersion with driver,
that is just great performance.
It's a bit of a challenge to determine,
yes, that's doing exactly what they say it's meant to do,
or yes, that's a better golf ball for me
because it's a little bit less spin is more optimal.
But then reality is it comes down to more what it does,
especially around the greens, on the greens,
but on the golf course.
So let's go through a little short game test
and see if we can determine the difference between these two.
When I was testing it,
I didn't feel much difference off the mat.
So that's LS, that's TourX.
They feel pretty indistinguishable.
We're gonna hit some chips, pitches, and putts
and see if the feel is different off the face
and if that reaction on the green is any different.
So we got TourX, kinda log what that felt like.
They feel great.
I mean, I love this golf ball.
It feels so good for me.
That was a little on the heavy side.
So we should see more release, and we did.
A little on the thin side, so we'll see more release.
It's hard to tell a difference, honestly.
I think it's gonna come down to the player
more than simply the data.
So I'm gonna try to put just a lot of spin,
high with a lot of spin,
and see if we can determine a difference.
That's so much spin.
Obviously, again, it's gonna come down to execution here,
but I don't see a whole lot of difference.
Like, they're landing soft, they're spinning the same.
One more test, kind of like the 40, 50 yarder,
and let's see if they react differently when they land.
So for this one, I'm gonna let you be the judge.
I've got 47 yards.
Hopefully there's angles that are good enough
to let you see what it does when it hits the ground.
I'm gonna alternate between them.
I have four shots.
But in your mind, think which one you think is X
and which one you think is LS.
I'll let you know after I hit them,
but remember, alternating.
So I'm gonna alternate between the two.
First one up, 47 yards, a little heavy.
Actually, just perfect on the thin side,
so that should release.
Remember, I'm alternating.
Which one do you think is one and three,
and which one do you think is two and four?
Did you notice a difference?
The first ones were X,
so one and three was X,
two and four was X, LS.
I didn't really notice a difference, did you?
Feel off the putter face is going to be personal,
depending on your putter, the weight,
the insert, the milling, the no insert.
It's a very personal choice
on what you prefer off the putter face.
Tour X does feel firmer to me off the putter face than Tour,
and that's probably why it edged out Tour to stay in my bag.
I don't think these are gonna feel very different
based on what I've done around here
and what I've done inside,
but maybe I'm wrong.
So this is Tour X and this is X, LS.
Will they feel different off the putter face?
And obviously, you gotta hit it off the center
to get the best feeling.
Sound is obviously the same.
I don't know.
They feel really, really similar.
I mean, if you're gonna hit it off the heel or the toe
and mishit it, maybe you'll start to feel differences.
This is Tour X.
Okay, so that one, LS, did feel softer.
Yeah, yeah.
LS feels softer.
It's taken me a few more to determine that.
Here, we'll go LS first.
Yeah, yeah.
So Tour X, LS does feel a wee bit softer to me
off the putter.
Yeah, definitely.
Okay, interesting.
Not a lot of difference out there.
That test, even when I was editing
which one is Tour X and LS,
I couldn't even remember
because they're reacting on the green the exact same.
They're great golf balls.
They're really, really good.
This feeling a touch softer off the putter face is fine.
For me, it doesn't really matter,
but if you found this one a little bit too firm
off the putter face
and Tour a little bit too soft off the putter face,
that's for you
because that's like your Goldilocks and the Three Bears.
That's just right.
In terms of performance,
they're so close, all three golf balls.
If I put Tour in this test,
it would be so hard to determine a difference.
So I wanted to take them out to the golf course
and see if I could notice under pressure, if you will,
is there a difference?
So I played around a golf with both of them
and I just had them in the cart
and almost like not pay attention
to which ball I was using
and see if I could determine a difference
hole to hole between the balls.
And I really couldn't.
Distance wise, especially out on the golf course,
I didn't notice much difference whatsoever.
I had a little nippy shots and it's fun
as I would expect it to spin from 45 yards.
They're so similar.
I can't really, I mean, my data,
my testing is inconclusive at best.
They're great.
So it does come down to, I think, the preference,
the personal feel of the golf ball.
I prefer the four piece.
So I would be between these.
See, that's the thing.
If this was spinning too much for you,
you probably were playing tour.
But if you thought tour too soft on the cover
and soft of the compression,
and this spun too much for you
and that kept you from playing max fly,
TourX LS is for you.
I'm gonna keep messing around with both
and see if I come down to a difference
that one is better than the other,
but I'm still gonna use this golf ball.
Not because I have to, but because I choose to.
I get to test a lot of golf balls now.
This is the best thing that I've been testing
for the last year.
This could oust it just with more play,
but let me know, have you got this yet?
Have you noticed a difference?
Because I've seen comments on certain things
that people are like,
they've noticed an incredible difference,
but my data did not show that.
My testing did not show that, but let me know.
Have you noticed a difference?
Are you gonna try this finally?
Which one do you use?
Sound off in those comments.
And if you're not using a max fly golf ball,
I highly suggest giving it a try
because it's really, really good.
See you next video.
