The video presents a slow-paced German language lesson through a walkthrough of the speaker's evening routine. It covers daily activities from preparing a drink and relaxing to nighttime hygiene and preparing for the next day, integrating vocabulary and grammar tips throughout the process.
Today I'm showing you my evening routine in slow German.
It is now just after 8 p.m.
And in the evenings, I like to drink a cup of hot chocolate.
Now we'll make my hot chocolate together.
For that, we need a cup and milk.
I open the milk lid and pour the milk into a cup.
I close the lid and put the milk in the refrigerator.
Now I'm using my coffee machine to froth the milk.
I also have a thermometer so I can see how hot the milk is.
I heated the milk to almost 70 degrees and frothed it.
Now it's the turn of the cocoa powder.
In Germany, many people call it Kaba.
If they make themselves a hot milk with chocolate powder.
Kaba. Children especially call it Kaba.
In a café, you always say "hot chocolate."
This is a teaspoon, and now I'm adding two teaspoons of chocolate powder.
into my hot milk and stir. Stir or just stir.
Look here and these little glasses—this is the milk foam.
We call that foam. Also commonly the beer foam.
You often hear that too.
Now we're going to spice up my hot chocolate a bit more.
That means we're making it a bit more specific.
A bit more special.
With spray cream. Cream for spraying.
Shake it off! Let's go!
And that's not all, because what would a hot chocolate be without marshmallows?
Today I only found the really big marshmallows, but they should work fine too.
And now, cocoa powder.
Oh, it's running out. Look here.
You guys, it doesn't quite look like a café, but not bad at all.
Sourness
By the way, we call this sound "sucking" in German.
Sipping. Not a very polite sound.
Licking one's lips is not polite either.
The tray. I place the hot chocolate on the tray.
And there are even a few cookies to go with it.
Now we're going to the living room to relax.
Now I relax on the couch or the sofa.
Most often, I watch TV in the evenings or I watch something on my laptop.
Right now, I'm watching a series about people who live in tiny houses.
Also in a tiny house, a very, very small house.
And then I had a few thoughts.
But before I go any further, I'd like to show you something quickly,
which I often recommend to my German learners.

Well then, enough watching for today.
Now I'm tidying up, and then I'll get ready for bed.
I'm bringing the tray into the kitchen.
I put the cup in the sink because my dishwasher is full and clean.
I'll clear it out tomorrow.
And I'll throw the baking paper in the trash.
I'm tidying up my laptop, and I'm arranging the pillows.
It is already completely dark outside.
I'm locking the door.
I close the curtain or I draw the curtain.
I'm turning off the lights.
Now we go up the stairs.
I am now in the bathroom, and now I am brushing my teeth with a toothbrush.
The toothbrush and the toothpaste.
You are supposed to brush your teeth.
It is a reflexive verb.
Also I brush my teeth.
You brush your teeth.
We brush our teeth.
This is a hair tie, and I'm now tying my hair into a braid.
This is a ponytail.
The ponytail or the braid.
Now I'm washing my face and removing my makeup.
This is a facial wash gel.
The face.
The towel.
I dry my face with a towel.
Next, I would like to shower.
I will shower without hair.
Just rinse my body.
For showering, I used shower gel.
The shower gel is for the body.
When I wash my hair, I use shampoo.
There we use the English word shampoo in German.
Finally, I rinse my hair one more time so that it becomes nice and soft and shiny.
Now I'm putting on a pajama.
Or one could also say pajamas.
This is the clothing one wears to sleep.
And I will put on my bathrobe too.
This is a cream.
A facial cream.
And now I'm rubbing cream into my face.
Apply cream to oneself.
That is also a reflexive verb.
I am taking off my jewelry.
These are my rings.
The Ring. The Rings.
And the earrings.
And the ear.
In the evening, I also decide in advance what I'd like to wear the next day.
Tomorrow it will be very hot.
And that is why I will wear a dress.
Before I go to sleep, I often read a little in bed.
Right now I'm reading a book by the author Sophie Kinsella.
I love their books because they are very entertaining and funny.
I have already read their books once many, many years ago.
And now read them once again.
It is very interesting how differently one perceives a book,
when one reads it again after such a long time.
I've completely forgotten some scenes
I remember the other one quite clearly as well.
Do you like reading books?
Which book are you currently reading?
Please feel free to write in the comments.
And if, after reading, I'm still not tired enough,
I sometimes still listen to an audiobook to fall asleep.
I always pick the most boring books myself.
The more boring, the better.
Then I fall asleep the fastest.
I also always set an alarm for weekdays.
Tomorrow I would like to wake up at 6:15 a.m.
Also quarter past six.
And then I set the alarm on my phone.
And that was my daily evening routine.
I am going to sleep now.
And if you're going to sleep too, you can watch this video next.
Because then you learn German while sleeping.
Good night and dream something nice.
