Hey there everyone, my name is Jenna. Welcome or welcome back to the channel.
In today's video we're going to go vintage and antique shopping together.
We are going to be in search of those one-of-a-kind unique pieces that help to
add depth and character to a space. So I'm going to take you guys to Merchant
Square which is a local antique mall here in the Phoenix area
and we're going to go through the store together and I'm going to point out some
pieces and give you styling tips and decorating ideas with what we see in the
And then we'll come back home and I'll show you guys a little haul and styling
session of everything that I found for my own home. So I hope you all enjoy
and without further ado, let's go treasure hunting.
Okay, this booth is super cute. Something that caught my eye was this rustic dough bowl.
It's only $32 and I will say these are great for like styling on the center of the table,
especially making like a themed kind of like tablescape. It makes it really simple.
You know, you can just drape like a little linen through here and then like style some pears,
some lemons, you know, whatever seasonal fruit, pomegranates for Christmas,
maybe some little berries inside. I actually really like this.
I love the little stress cracks. I think that that's so charming.
And $32 isn't too bad for one of these. Like they can be pretty pricey.
So I like that this has like that vintage rustic look to it.
When you add this distressed wood to something like a tablescape,
it just gives it like that primitive, warm, chippy look, which I love.
Also, they have this little crock down here. This would be really cute for like a desk
with art supplies or, you know, just a little vase. It's $18 and it's handmade.
Oh my gosh, I love that. I also love to collect brass candlesticks and this is such a good price,
$6.50 for one of these. I rarely ever see that cheap. That's really good.
And there's two of them for that price. I have a bunch that I've collected
and I just kind of like mix them together on all my tablescapes.
And I love the little pop of warmth. This has like that pretty patina on it too,
which I just love. These are also great on somewhere like a mantle or, you know,
it doesn't even have to be a tablescape. They're great to just pop on a shelf for
that little pop of warmth. And I love the shape on this one.
Like I love the silhouette of that. That's such a good one.
I also love this primitive washboard. This would be so cute just hung as like decor
in a little laundry room. You could also just put some hooks in here and actually
use this to hang laundry or just like hang your keys or whatever, but it's just a piece
with character that would look so sweet in a laundry room. I love this hand-painted detail
on the top. Oh, that is precious. These shutters are so pretty. I love the chippiness on them.
If you guys remember in the old house, I had some shutters that I used as like a little
propagation wall next to our reading chair. And it just gave the space such a cozy, unique feel.
And I really love, you know, like all of this wear on here. I think that's beautiful.
This would also be really pretty in like a bathroom. Maybe you could put little hooks
on here and hang the towels. I will say, cause this is probably old lead paint.
You would need to seal it, but this would be a great one for a house with like taller ceilings
because they're a taller scale. I love this two-tone crock. I used to have one like this.
I gave it to my mom before I moved, when I moved from North Carolina and I kind of regret it
because it was one of my like favorite Christmas decorating pieces. I'd always put my Christmas
trees in here and I just love the look of the two-tone with like that earthy brown on there.
How sweet are these little Falls Graff little garden scoops? It's $35 for the set, but like,
could you imagine this in like a little outdoor garden potting station? I love that they're
ceramic so you could easily clean them and you could like hang them up, you know, and to kind
of display them. I just love that. So sweet with a little birdhouse and the leaves on there.
This is so cute. Like even just to put a little floral arrangement in this with a little wing
detail on there. Let's see, $24. That is so precious. It's an old cracker barrel bowl.
Even just like this for a popcorn bowl, I feel like this would just look so sweet and I love
how it looks to be like hand-painted on there. Oh, these little clamshell servers, $12. I mean,
that is adorable for like a salad, summertime like salad, like even serving your salad in
something like this would be so sweet for the summertime. Okay guys, this is my friend Jen's
booth and she always has some really cute things. I'm obsessed with this crock. My mom actually has
this in like a lamp and this just reminds me of home. I love that. Oh my gosh, this vintage lamp
is so pretty. Vintage Hollywood Regency diamond cut lamp. That is gorgeous. I love that for just
like a little lighting piece in like a hallway or like even, you know, a powder bathroom or something.
That is gorgeous. Also, I love this tile that she has in here. Like how cute. She has a blue and
green side. I'm obsessed. This is pretty. Clear press glass compote. I love all of the cuts on
there and the shape of that. Just like the silhouette of that on summer like, you know,
shelves or even a bar. That is really cool. I love this little letter organizer with like the carved
wood detail. That is so pretty. Oh my gosh, I love that. Lerner Mail Organizer. I love like the dark
wood. It kind of has like that Spanish look to it. This on a desk. I could even like put some of my
art supplies in here. I really like that. She has some cute stuff in here. I love this old toolbox.
Oh my gosh, I love that. You can use this to hold like bean bags for like cornhole. You can put art
supplies in here and just kind of carry it around as like a little caddy. My gosh, I love that. And
the patina on this one is really pretty. Oh my gosh, this little boot base. Are you kidding me?
That is so adorable. I love this for like Halloween. 35 bucks. That is so fun. I love it
with the little Cosmos in there like that for the springtime. I love these like little bowl crocs.
This one's 45 bucks which isn't horrible for a croc at an antique store especially with this
really nice patina on there. This could be a pretty base for like a flower arrangement that
just helps it to feel really rustic. I like it here how it even just has something simple like
corks inside. This could be pretty on just like a bar area or you know some shelves just to hold
something. I don't even know like even on a desk to hold something like paper clips or you could
kind of stuff it with things like tape all of that kind of stuff just to make it feel a little
bit more aesthetic. My friend Brandy showed me this guy's booth. He has such good prices on just
like plain vintage frames. Like this one is six dollars like that's crazy. I'm really trying to
get into oil painting so I figured that this would be kind of nice you know to frame some of my stuff.
There's a lot of really cool ones over here like I really like this one was like the carved detail
on there. Oh my gosh it's only eight dollars. Are you kidding? I love the frames that have like this
little piece of fabric. I think that's really cool. Okay something that I love to see every once in a
while are these fishing floats. They're actually old glass fishing buoys and I believe they're
Japanese if I'm not mistaken and I think these look so pretty just like styled in a bowl on
shelves. They look just kind of like a fun sculptural piece. Maybe if you took the netting
off it could go in like any setting but I think these are really cute for like beach cottages or
like little lake houses. So perfect and I just love that like green tint of the glass. All these
antique maps are so cool. You can see like the age on there and these would be beautiful framed
especially if you could go through and pick out places that were like meaningful or you've lived
or places you've been. They also have these vintage French fashion pages. These could be so fun in like
a bathroom or something just for some like fun wall art that's really unique. I love that. I love
this booth with all the books but what caught my eye was this lamp. This totally gives me like mermaid
vibes and the shape of it is so unique. It is a little pricey but I will say like this is a very
unique special piece. It doesn't match my style of my home but I just think that this is so beautiful
like on a little side table or you know on a desk and the colors and the stained glass are so pretty
with all the blues and greens. I love that especially like a little beach house like this could be so
cute. Okay I don't know if this is kitschy or not but this copper skillet clock is only $29
and I feel like that's kind of cute. Like if you're just gonna use a copper pan for decoration
you might as well hang it up and have it be functional. You know maybe if you hang this from
like a utensil rail or even just like on a little side wall in a kitchen. I actually think that's
kind of cute and it totally works assuming yeah you just have the little mechanism right there.
That's actually really adorable. Okay also they have this cute blue and white clock. I kind of
love that for $30. No is it working? Don't know if it works but that is adorable. However I don't
know how you would hang this on the wall. You'd have to like hang it off a little bit because this
sticks out a lot but I do love that so much. Like that's how far it would have to be off the wall
which isn't horrible. Oh my gosh I love this little stack of terracotta bowls.
They're six dollars each and they're glazed on the inside but I love how these look just stacked.
Like that would be so pretty on you know like a little open shelf or like a countertop for little
mixing bowls or like salsa bowls or sauce bowls. I love that they're practical in the sense that
they have the glaze on the inside. That is so sweet. Just looks really French to me. Oh my gosh
guys look at this little hand-painted blue and white plate. It's $12. You don't normally see
them this small. Like this would be really cute mixed in with some other plates on like a plate
wall or something or even just like as a little plate for like dipping oil or something.
Oh that is so precious. I love it when things are hand-painted like this and the olives on here.
Oh it just gives off like that Mediterranean vibe. This mixed with those terracotta bowls over there
would be so cute. Okay this would be kind of a fun brass candle holder to add to the collection
with that fun twist detail. You know you could really mix and match with some fun silhouettes
and I don't know this is a really unique one. I kind of like that. Okay so now we're back home
from the store. I'm going to show you guys a little haul and styling session of everything
that I found. So for this first thing it's actually going to be kind of part of a collection
that I'm trying to build. So if you all remember a while back when I was shopping with my friend
Brandy at Call It New, I found this vintage kind of like wood looking pestle. So I've actually
used this quite a bit more than I thought I would when it comes to gardening. So I've been using
this to like plant some of my herbs to kind of round out a little spot to place it in the soil
when I'm putting together a little potted herb plant or when I'm starting seeds. It's great for
like starting the little holes to drop the seeds in and I just think that it's kind of like a fun
primitive piece that I can incorporate into my garden decor. So I found another one to add to
the collection. This one was a little bit darker and I like how it was kind of like a different
shape like this one was a little bit more angular. This guy was $8.95 so not too bad but I thought
that this could be nice to eventually collect more and then have them styled in like an old
rustic pot out on a potting station. I don't have the potting station yet but I am planning to
hopefully score one on Marketplace or find one thrifting or maybe Mike can build me one
eventually when we get to that point. But I'll kind of just show you an example of how I'm
planning to style them out there just like placed in a little pot. Vintage primitive wood pieces
look really beautiful styled in a garden so it's great that I can find something useful that I can
also use in my garden decor as well. Okay so next I could not pass up that set of terracotta bowls.
So originally there were five bowls at the antique mall but I did end up only buying four because
there was one that didn't match and I just thought a set of four was a little bit more rounded out
and they were six dollars a piece so I figured it could help me save a little bit of money to just
get the set of four. And what I love about these is they just have like that Mediterranean rustic
feel to them. Terracotta is such a classic timeless material that adds this earthy warmth to a space
that I love. So these were super cute like I said they're glazed on the inside so you can use them
to you know serve little dishes like yogurt, salsas, things like that. But the outside kind of
just looks like a rustic terracotta pot that you would use in the garden which I really like.
And then also they are different colors so there's two lighter colors and there's two darker colors
so it looks really beautiful when it's stacked up kind of has a little bit of variation and it makes
it feel collected which I really like. Not only that but I also thought that these could make
really beautiful little pieces on a tablescape so you know you could pop a couple of candles in here
put some moss around so I thought that would be really beautiful to use as a styling piece
maybe come like the holiday time or whatever. Also they'd be pretty to use just out in the garden
as well to use as little like catch-alls for you know things like scissors, twine, gardening materials
that kind of thing. But yeah just a really beautiful timeless piece that gives off that kind of like
Mediterranean rustic feel that I love so much. Okay so when it comes to vintage and antique
shopping like I've said there's two different types of sourcing that I like to do when it comes
to my secondhand pieces. Obviously you can go through like the treasure hunt at the thrift store
find things for very very affordable prices or you can kind of have more of a shopping like curated
experience at these places like the antique malls but you're typically going to pay a little bit
more of a markup. And for this next piece it like rivaled a thrift store price so I was very very
excited. It is this set of beautiful rustic African stone beads. Now this string of beads was only
$7 which is so crazy because I've seen these from anywhere for like 30 to 40 dollars on designer
sites so I thought that that was such a steal. And I've shown you guys many times before I love
styling with glass beads. They just add such a pretty silhouette to a little styling moment
whether you're just popping them in a bowl or especially with these I think these look gorgeous
just draped around a vase or a lamp. They help things to feel a little bit like more boho and
global. So I just love the texture on this how the beads are all uneven and there's lots of little
cracks and crevices and I just think that this adds a little bit of flavor to some decor styling
and how it just adds like a subtle earthy kind of like rustic look to my styling. It's a great
finishing piece to have to just pop in a bowl with like some air plants or some succulents
just to add a little bit of extra dimension and to snag it for seven bucks was such a steal.
Okay so another piece that I could not leave at the store were these beautiful brass candlestick
holders. Now I ended up getting four total and what I really liked about these was that they
were all the same height so typically when I'm styling I like to use different heights for some
variation on somewhere like a tablescape but then there's also times when I want to have all of my
candlesticks the same height so I like that I could get this set of four and achieve that because the
ones that I currently have they're all collected from all over the place and I don't think I have
many that are the same height so I liked that these were you know four different ones but I
could kind of stagger them so they still feel collected but I can still have that even height
if I want to have that option for a tablescape. Another thing that I really liked about them was
that they had a wider base. Sometimes I find these and they don't have anything to kind of stabilize
them. I just find that they're a little bit sturdier when they have a larger base like this
and they also had a beautiful patina on them. Some people like to shine up their brass but personally
I love the aged look that it has so I leave it on there. I just leave them as is. I think that layer
of wear just looks so beautiful. It gives it that vintagey feel and helps to add character and depth
to a tablescape or you know wherever you're planning to style them. A lot of times I use
these on my mantle as well. They also look great on a console table or on a shelf. Also the prices
were really good on these. This set of two was $16 so $8 per candlestick and then these were $6.50
each which I felt like was really good. Just some really great pieces to have for a great price.
