The creator shares a vlog of a painting trip to Desierto de los Leones, explaining her process of using nature photography as a reference for gouache art. She also announces an upcoming in-person masterclass in Mexico City focused on color theory and light/shadow management, while discussing her preference for sharing artistic processes over formal tutorials.
Today they are going to accompany me to paint in the forest.
I will show you how my process for taking a photograph and using it as a reference works.
This time we went to the Desert of the Lions.
Not far from there is a little house that is very magical, and this time we were able to get off, explore it a bit.
The truth is, it does kind of look a bit creepy.
Although I think they use it on weekends so people can go there and do their things, like eating and everything.
But then, like that, she just looked really creepy.
Then we went to the desert and descended some magical stairs.
And at the place where we're going, truthfully, it's always been very quiet.
We've had the chance to see little people walking their little dogs, or going as couples or as families.
The truth is, it's very relaxed despite our being there midweek.
There isn't much people, but yes, there are some individuals.
We settled down near where the body of water is.
The truth is, I think it's very relaxing when the water is flowing and the whole show is going on.
This time I brought the kit that Lightwish sent me.
I've gotten used to it quite well when I go out.
Here I was setting up my tripod, everything I need to record.
And also a mosquito repellent, because otherwise the mosquitoes will be just fine, dogs.
Well, this is the photograph, the one we'll use as our reference.
Every time I go to the forest, I somehow see and say.
This painting, well, rather this frame could work for something.
And so I go.
Then I take many photographs, and then I forget that I took photographs.
And then I can't decide which one anymore.
So this time, when we just went down to where the water was.
And when I turned around, I saw that frame and I said.
That looks very magical; I really liked it.
The stairs and how the vegetation and the bench were left.
That's my idea, then.
That is, when I take something as my reference.
This time, what mattered most to me were those stairs and the little bench.
The food looked very magical, as if created by nature.
So basically all I did here was put my mochis.
I said it doesn't matter, let's have them interact with nature.
And I put him sitting on the little stool.
And the other one, like in a little basket, collecting them like apples.
I used some bluish gray tones for the background.
And the only thing I didn't touch were the mochi.
Because even though gouache can be overlaid.
There are times when I like to leave it unpainted.
Something that is going to stand out a lot, and in this case, it was the mochis.
Then I said, to the best of my ability, I'm not going to touch the mochis.
And I'm going to leave everything else as well.
What I recommend to you is that you start working in the shadows.
Because that will very clearly define where your lights and shadows will go.
Sometimes what I do is just go through it section by section.
That is, I said the tree first, then the part of the stairs.
But ideally, one should start by sectioning what are essentially their shadows.
And then His lights, so that you may not get lost.
Because I feel that when I don't do that—putting the lights and shadows first.
I made a ball, and that's exactly what happened.
So, like, in the photo, I did say here are the shadows.
This is going to be darker, and the rest will be lighter.
But if it's difficult for you all.
Over time, they will gradually fade away as they keep painting.
That's why I recommend that you first create a guide.
I'm repeating a guide that I evidently didn't make here.
The truth is that I recorded this as a process.
It wasn't a tutorial.
In fact, you know they are never tutorials.
Because I'm not really one to give tutorials.
I make balls, then I repeat things to them.
A few days ago, I think someone kind of told me that this doesn't seem like a tutorial.
And me, well, I don't give tutorials.
I only share my process with you.
And if someone helps him, it's incredible.
But I feel that often in these conversations, one learns a lot.
Because I learned gouache by watching videos, precisely.
And it wasn't so much what people were saying.
It was only by observing how the process was for people.
And I would say this person is doing this.
That is what I want to convey to you when I share these processes.
So that you can also see how my process is.
And perhaps something I do here will help you in some way.
You know, speaking of tutorials, yes indeed.
I will have a gouache masterclass at the end of August.
It will be in person.
Some have already told me that if I'm going to give it to someone online.
But the truth is, it's getting complicated for me, like the idea of setting up two cameras.
That is, because I understand that one would have to record and the other would have to record me.
Oh, I don't know, friends.
But I don't know if they'd dare to have one online.
And if little God grants me understanding.
But I don't want to post one online that doesn't look cool either.
And I'm already charging you all.
I don't know.
I'm going to make one as a test.
If everything goes well, then it's settled.
If not, I will never post any more online.
But it's just that I find it very difficult to grasp the technology, friends.
You don't know.
That is, if you have videos, it's because now everything is very easy.
But no, no.
I'm very much a sofrito.
If anyone can support me.
And he knows how to deliver those things online.
It would be incredible.
Because I understand that, for example, Zoom.
It only gives you one hour.
That's enough, an hour is enough.
Goodbye.
So I don't know where to start.
Honestly.
I panic.
Well then.
What I mentioned to you will be at the end of August.
It will be August 22nd and 23rd.
Just in case anyone wants to reserve their seat.
Well then.
Rather buy their place.
I'm leaving you the link to the page here.
There they can purchase it.
I'm going to give it in Mexico City.
Around the Valle neighborhood, more or less.
It's going to be two days.
Six hours each.
And there I'm going to show them.
How to handle a color palette.
How to use everything about shadows and lights.
I mean, everything there is much more detailed.
To explain it to you better.
And I also give you exercises.
And the whole show as well.
Let's take a quick look at some color theory.
I'll send you that information before the workshop.
So that you already go in with a bit of knowledge.
Once again, I won't give you any material.
You are bringing your gouache.
In the workshop, I'll give it to you already like that.
I'll provide you with paper and everything.
That is, really nothing else I need is for you to bring your brushes and your gouache.
The rest is already on me.
This workshop is designed for.
People who already know more or less.
How does gouache work?
Or at least have experienced it a little.
The texture and everything.
Because it's not going to be zero, zero, zero.
I mean, I want to focus more.
On how to handle a color palette.
How to choose it.
How to paint lights and shadows.
So you don't get the wrong idea.
And all of that.
So rather, it's no longer just an introduction to gouache.
It's more about how to use color.
With gouache.
Actually, you already have that information.
How to apply watercolor so effectively.
Or in gouache.
Or acrylic.
So it doesn't matter.
But I feel that gouache is a medium.
That is very easy.
It is very noble.
Although many people say it is difficult for them.
But the truth is, I feel it's very easy.
Well, above all, I invite you to this workshop.
There are only a few places left.
If it's filled and everything.
Well, maybe I'll open a next date.
But if I'm interested in giving it online.
I'm going to ask on Instagram.
If anyone knows how to give online classes.
Which program is used?
Because the truth is, I don't want to be cutting.
So, again and again, hour after hour.
Another hour and another time.
Please help this elderly woman.
Well then.
Only this was a little video.
So, telling them about this little outing.
How I roughly use a reference.
And so, basically.
It's a quick little vlog.
And that's it.
Thank you very much for coming by here.
Let's check out the little videos.
These last two weeks.
I had been very busy.
That's why I hadn't uploaded a video for them.
I hope so, next week.
You upload videos every week again.
Sharing things with them.
Because remember.
Once again.
No, I don't do tutorials.
Why isn't it given to me?
More than anything else.
I'm telling you about my wild adventures.
That said.
The next video.
I am so excited.
Because it's another wild adventure.
We went to paint at the cemetery.
I'm going to be very honest with you.
What I painted turned out really great.
But I really enjoyed the experience.
Because I had never been there.
I think it's a pantheon.
A beautiful cemetery.
Why did this one have statues?
And the whole show.
And I said it was beautiful.
If the next one is going to be that one.
It's going to be a short vlog.
The truth is, I don't think it will last that long.
Because according to me.
Yes, I recorded it.
But you can see that when it comes to editing.
It has been not long ago.
And the truth is.
Maybe what I do.
Paint it.
Something I saw in the cemetery.
So, anyway.
As a reference.
Yeah, already.
I'll give you the process.
I don't know if that would appeal to them.
Because as such.
Painting in the cemetery.
I only painted a statue.
And it was pretty bad.
I want to share it with you.
A little bit more.
But the truth is that
Lately, me.
I've gone out.
Let's go for a walk.
Quotes, quotes.
Paint.
And me.
I want to share this with you.
Like that.
Like the vlog of the walk.
And I don't know if that's true either.
I hope you like it.
So.
Leave me down here.
If you would like.
See more like this.
LA.
The stroll.
The graffiti.
Half and half.
I don't know.
I feel that yes.
I shared a little with them.
From the little walk.
But the truth.
Not much.
Then.
I don't know if it's the same for you.
I hope you like(Intend to like) that.
Only.
They want to see me.
As I paint.
Yeah.
Well then, friends.
Thank you very much.
Just dropping by.
That was it.
A little vlog snippet.
Announcement of the masterclass.
What I am going to give.
You already know, little one.
I'm leaving you all the information.
I'm leaving you.
The direct link.
For those who want it.
Go shopping.
His place.
Remember that it will be here.
In Mexico City.
In August.
Thank you very much.
To accompany me.
I hope you liked it.
I hope that.
Something you've seen here.
I hope it has been of service to you.
Even if it's just a little bit.
Haha.
And that's it.
It's really true.
When.
I'm going to the forest.
How can it be that I don't think?
I am alone.
Chatter and chatter.
Gossiping with my little friends.
And painting.
Yeah.
And then.
I'm just making it up as I go along.
Right now.
And thus.
Well then.
I hope.
Birth.
In the next video.
Well, I think they're going to be vlogs.
From now on.
Some vlogs.
Others
As a material test.
That reminds me.
I want to try.
A kit.
What is paint.
To go the same way.
Whatever.
To draw.
Let's see how it turns out.
But it still hasn't arrived yet.
So.
I'm waiting for him to arrive.
Y.
I think soon.
I'll have them too.
One of.
Watercolors.
Those that Artix sent me.
It's been a long time.
Painted with watercolors.
So, let's see how it goes.
We're on our way.
Thank you very much.
To accompany me.
See you later.
In the.
Next.
Video
Goodbye.
Remember.
Leave me here.
Your comments.
Eh.
So like.
His hypeo.
And all that stuff.
Those that are made.
Tiri.
