Coming up in 5.32 now as the conflict between the U.S. and Iran heats up, there's a new
report that the Iranians have been plotting to assassinate President Trump.
And the administration is continuing to track that threat.
Doug Elzater joins us live from Washington with the very latest on these new developments
overnight.
Good morning, Doug.
Good morning.
The Wall Street Journal reports that Israel warned the White House about this plot, and
that threat could be behind a last-minute switch in presidential aircraft.
After two nights of intense U.S. airstrikes on Iran, this stunning report from the Wall
Street Journal.
Israel shared new intelligence with the U.S. that it said indicated a fresh Iranian plot
to kill President Trump.
I'm number one on the kill list for Iran.
During this week's NATO summit in Turkey, the president spoke bluntly of a general threat.
And through the week, Iranians mourning their former supreme leader have made threats of
their own.
Departing Turkey, the president made what appeared to be a last-minute switch, taking
an old model of Air Force One instead of his brand new one.
It's clear to me that the Secret Service gave some pretty good advice to the president that
there is a real, specific, incredible threat.
The president said the switch was made to allow service members overseas to see the
new aircraft.
But it does raise questions about the quick conversion of the 747, which was a gift from
Qatar, and whether it lacks some of the defenses of the earlier planes that were built from
the ground up to serve as Air Force One.
It is nowhere near as secure as building a plane from scratch.
And I find it hard to believe that the new plane had as robust a safety and security
platform as the old plane.
Now, two new presidential aircraft are on order from Boeing, but they are years behind
schedule.
Back to you, guys.
All right.
We'll continue to track the latest on all of that.
Thank you, Doug.
All right.
5.33 now.
Eight men have been indicted for their roles in an alleged terror plot targeting the White
House UFC fights.
The indictment alleges the plot started back in May when the group collected guns, explosives,
drones, and money.
Federal prosecutors say they were stopped just days before the June 14th event on the
White House South Lawn.
Investigators say the attack would have involved flying explosive drones into the event, then
shooting people in the crowd as they ran away.
