Beginning with the latest on the war with Iran, both U.S. and Iranian leaders are said
to be continuing those negotiations despite two straight days of exchanging strikes.
At the center of the debate is Iran's nuclear plans.
ABC's Karen Hua has the latest from Washington.
This morning, the U.S. and Iran are continuing technical talks on nuclear issues.
It's been a tense week, both countries trading strikes and strong language over the past
two days.
They're scum.
They're sick people.
Iran's foreign minister responding in a social media post saying, quote, we do not answer
vulgarity with vulgarity, but with action, fearlessly and with great valor.
Even as the two countries argue, a U.S. official tells ABC News the United States is still
committed to finding a resolution.
And technical talks continue.
Iran can never possess a nuclear weapon.
It was just last month that President Trump signed a 60-day ceasefire with Iran.
Less than three weeks in, the U.S. claims Iran broke the deal when it attacked ships
in the Strait of Hormuz.
That led to two nights of bombing between the two countries.
Now Iran is also tightening its grip on the Strait of Hormuz, causing the cost of oil
to rise.
That's their biggest leverage.
They have used the Strait of Hormuz, I think, very well from their perspective, 21 percent
of the world's energy supply, 30 percent of the material we need to produce food comes
through there, and they have shown that they can close it.
Here at home, gas prices, which had started to fall during the ceasefire, are now going
back up to $3.85 a gallon, but still well below the highest point during the war.
