The pilot of a business jet that crashed in Florida, killing all nine people aboard, was a longtime aviator, husband and father from the Philadelphia suburbs.
Now for that plane crash in Florida
that killed all nine people on board.
Action News has learned the captain
of the Learjet has ties to Pennsylvania.
He was a former member of an Allentown aviation company
and lived in Montgomery County.
Action News reporter Corey Davis live
for us now in Gilbertsville with the story.
And Corey, the NTSB just shared new details in their investigation.
Sorry, NTSB investigators have revealed earlier today
that they are finding pieces of the plane one
to three miles away from the impact crater,
indicating that it likely probably fell apart,
broke apart in the sky before it landed.
Meanwhile, here in Gilbertsville,
I've been speaking with Captain Jeff Gregory's neighbors
and a pastor who knew him, saying that he was a man of faith.
Today, Action News was there as deliveries arrived at Jeff Gregory's
home in the Philadelphia suburbs of Gilbertsville, Montgomery County.
The 55-year-old was a pilot of the business jet that crashed
in Florida Sunday afternoon, killing all nine on board.
Weather is certainly a key focus of the investigation.
At nearby Limerick Chapel Church,
the pastor spoke with Action News off-camera, telling me Gregory
was a former parishioner and beloved within the community.
Gregory's life also remembered through a fundraiser by Upper Jets,
the company that operated his final flight.
The goal, to support his wife, children,
and young daughter's education.
Gregory's ties to the area also extends to Allentown,
where the staff at East Coast Jets expressed condolences online,
saying he worked there briefly 10 years ago.
NTSB investigators say the plane encountered ice
and bad weather before crashing near West Palm Beach, Florida.
A man's voice could be heard over the air traffic control radio
in the background, reciting parts of the Lord's Prayer before crashing.
Friends believe that voice belonged to Gregory.
And a local pastor here also telling me they
are currently working on funeral arrangements.
And I'm reporting live here in Gilbertsville,
Corey Davis, Channel 6 Action News.
Yeah, really heartbreaking details as they continue to emerge.
Corey, thanks.
