Welcome into the video today. I'm bringing you more helpful beginner tips and tricks to help you with the learning curve on your Samsung Galaxy
A37 and if you missed the part one of this video
I'll make sure to link it below in the description and in the pin comments
you can check that one out too and
One more thing if you have additional questions and things you want to learn about this phone that I haven't covered
Drop me a comment down below and let me know what topics you'd like me to cover and if I get enough people to respond
I will make a part three and just use the feedback from this video to incorporate those new tips
Let's go ahead and get into it
Number one, let's fix one of the biggest pain points of this phone
Which is this new swipe down feature when you swipe down from the top
It brings up your notifications and then you have to swipe left to get to your control panel to fix this
We're gonna tap on the pencil at the top here and we're gonna go up to panel settings and then tap on together
Now when you swipe down from the top it gives you one clean view where you can see your notification switches
Your brightness adjustment and your notifications. All right, number two. Let's talk about how to keep that screen on longer
We're gonna swipe down from the top of the screen. We're gonna tap on the settings wheel in the upper right corner
We're gonna swipe up and go to display
Swipe up again and then go to screen timeout now your phone by default will be set to either 15 seconds or 30 seconds
I like to take this up to at least two minutes because that way your screen will stay on much longer without you having to
Constantly touch the screen to keep it awake
I have mine set to 10 for the video just so it doesn't go off while I'm explaining things
Number three, I'm gonna show you how to get the always on clock to show when your phone is asleep
What is the always on clock?
Well, normally if you're on the lock screen if you're always on clock is calibrated properly
Your phone will show you the time even when your phone is asleep now
There's one tweak you have to make in the settings to do this now double tap the screen to wake it up
I already have my fingerprint program
So I'm gonna unlock the phone as a quick note
If you want to learn how to program your fingerprint or just set a lock code on your phone
I'll link up right here to my beginners video and that'll show you how to do basic things like
Setting up the lock screen code and other things like that. Let's swipe down from the top of the screen
We're gonna tap on that settings book again
this time we're gonna swipe up and go to lock screen and AOD AOD stands for always on display and
You're going to go to always on display, but tap right here where it says always on display and then
Where it says when to show
We're gonna tap and we're gonna change it to always
now
When I lock the phone watch what happens
It'll now show me the time I can always see the time even when my phone is asleep for the next tip
We're gonna swipe down from the top of the screen and we're gonna go back to our settings
Go to display and then swipe up and look for edge panel from here. We need to enable this feature
Sometimes it's already enabled but other times it may not so you want to check to make sure that this shows on and now
You'll have this little dash on the right side of the phone here
And when you swipe over it brings up what's called your edge panel now here
You can add apps and you can basically have a quick shortcut to the apps that you use the most
Let me show you how to customize it. So we're gonna swipe over
Tap on that plus to add apps and here you'll see every app that is currently installed on your phone
And then you can go do and just simply start adding so I'm gonna add YouTube
YouTube music I'm gonna add my Instagram and
Let's add gmail and let's do messages, too
Okay. Now I'm gonna hit the home button. So now when I swipe over
It's gonna bring up my shortcut apps that I can access no matter what I'm doing on the phone
If I'm in the Google Chrome app and I'm online and I'm browsing
That little dash will be there and when I swipe over I can quickly access these apps if I want to make quick changes
Or if I want to just open one really quickly
now another cool thing is I can drag one of these apps onto the screen and I can easily create a
Multitasking window and have two apps open at one time or I can have it as a pop-up on the screen
For example, let's say I want to have a pop-up of my YouTube music. I'm gonna long press on it
I can either drag it to the middle and when you drag it to the middle
It's gonna turn it into a pop-up that'll now show up on the screen
You'll see a blue dash at the top and if I hold on the blue dash I can move this box
To different points whether higher or lower on the screen if I drag from the corners
I can make that little box smaller or I can drag down to make it bigger
If I tap on the blue dash I can minimize it
So it's still on the screen, but just as a pop-up and then if I want to open it up any time
Maybe you want to change the song just simply tap on it
The pop-up opens and then I can easily make the change that I want to make if I tap the dash again
And tap on this little box in the middle
I can actually start a split screen and now I have my YouTube music at the bottom and I have my Google Chrome at the
Top here. I can actually have my music going and I could be scrolling through Amazon at the same time
so
All that is initiated from the app edge
Now you're not limited to only five apps if I tap on this pencil here at the bottom
I can add even more apps and and once you get to a certain number
it will split it into two rows if I tap on calculator and
Let's see my clock now. It's gonna split it and it will have two rows of apps instead of one
Let's move on to the next tip, which is this is the app edge
but there is another feature that is called the people edge and
It's another menu within this where you can actually swipe over and it'll bring up your contacts
So if you wanted to call someone or text them, you can have them show up as a shortcut in this menu
We're gonna hit the home button
we're gonna swipe down go back to our settings go back to display and
back to the edge panel and then from here
We're gonna tap on panels and here you can add additional shortcut panels
So I'm gonna add the people panel if you go through here, there's other options like the weather you can have a GPS
Like compass and your clipboard and reminders. There's so many other cool things you can add for now
I'm just gonna add the people option
But you can obviously go through and then add some of these other ones if you want to play around with them
Now if I tap on edit
You first need to give it permission to be able to look at your contacts because that's what it's going to load into that menu
I'm gonna tap allow and then here it will show me all of my contacts and if I want to add them to that menu
I simply just need to tap on the icon next to the name
Now I do have them blurred out for the sake of privacy so that their numbers are not broadcast all over the internet
So but you can see the pictures and I can just tap
For example here and here and here and I'm just selecting the contacts like that
You can do up to 12 and then I'm gonna hit done
now
When I open this menu
You see this is the app edge and when I swipe over
Now it will show my contacts and so if I want to message one of these contacts
All I need to do is tap on the icon and then it will give me a pop-up and I can call them
Or I can send them a quick text message
So this is a super clutch feature and again
It just puts the people that you contact the most right at your fingertips
You can easily reach out to them if you need to message them
Now so far if you're getting value out of this video, please stop and bump that like button down below
I appreciate that support and if you see a little hype button
If you can tap on the hype button and hype the video
this just tells YouTube that you're really enjoying the content and you'd like them to push it out to more people if you do nothing else
if you can do those two things that will pay so many dividends in terms of
Helping this video reach more people and allow me to continue to make content like this now
Another quick thing I wanted to note before we move on to the next tip
If you haven't heard Samsung launched a new pair of earbuds called the
Galaxy Buds 4 Pro and these earbuds are so sweet. They have a new design
better quality sound and so many fun new additions that Samsung has added one of which is
They have voice commands that are built in now
So if you are listening to music
You can actually just say stop music and it will pause for you and then you can say play music and it will automatically
Start playing it for you
there are some new gestures now where if someone calls you you can literally just say you can just shake your head to either answer the
Call or deny it and there's a bunch of other cool things that are built-in
For example, you can also listen to your notifications for text messages or calls
They'll come right through the earbuds. If you're in the market for a new pair of earbuds
I would definitely tell you to check these out. These are so sweet. These are my daily earbuds
I use these pretty much for everything. I also have them linked on screen right here in case you guys want to check them out
Okay for the next tip. I want to share a really fun feature. I use all the time
This is called the quick launch camera
If something is happening around you and you want to take a quick picture
All you have to do is press your power button twice and it will automatically
Launch the camera just like this watch one two
It will automatically wake up the phone and take you right into the camera
And if you notice I just did it while the phone was locked. So imagine your phone is off
Something happens your kid does something really cool. You want to capture it double tap?
It'll wake up the phone and take you right to the camera. So you don't miss any important moments
This will also work as well. If you're just in another app
Maybe you're on YouTube you're watching a video or you're on the internet and you're just doing some browsing
Double tapping that power button will automatically take you over to the camera. So you don't miss that important moment
now
Another cool thing while this is, you know
A really fun feature and I find a lot of value in this some of you might say, you know
I don't use my camera very much. I wish I could program that double tap to do something else
And if that's the case, well if you swipe down from the top of the screen and swipe down again
Tap on this this power button right here. It's the second button of the three and
Then you'll tap on side button settings
Here you can reprogram that double tap to basically do something else
Maybe instead of launching the camera you would prefer that open up a different app
For example, I can tap here on apps and then I can select a specific app to launch when I do that double press
Maybe you would rather it launch Instagram. Well now
Double press and it takes you right to Instagram now
Some of you might say, you know, I wish I could do something a little more practical with that feature
Well, let me show you another really great use case for reprogramming that button. So
My favorite is actually the flashlight so you can program this to launch your flashlight
So maybe you're walking around the house and it's dark and it's late and the lights aren't on
Well double tap that power button and guess what now?
It's going to use your camera flash as a flashlight and it will automatically launch without you even having to turn the phone on
I think this is probably the number one best use case outside of using it to launch the camera
So you decide what you want to do?
Would you prefer to launch the camera or would you prefer it launch the flashlight or any one of these other apps?
Now, you know how to adjust that setting and that's definitely going to improve your experience with using your phone overall
Okay for the next tip I want to talk a little bit more about using two apps at one time
This is a feature I use all the time and it comes in so handy
now let's say you wanted to watch a YouTube video you're gonna open up the YouTube app and
Then you're gonna tap on the button in the bottom left, which is your recent apps button
Swipe over to YouTube and tap on the YouTube icon and then tap on open in split-screen view
This will take YouTube and put it at the top of the screen and then allow me to select another app to be at
The bottom of the screen. Maybe I want to have that Google Chrome app open and I want to scroll through my Amazon
Guess what? I can do that while my video is playing at the top now
I clicked on the commercial for uber eats
So it just took me out of Google Chrome and now I'm in uber eats and it's trying to get me to order food
So that's super funny
But right here, let's say I want to play one of these videos and let's load the volume so it doesn't hurt your ears
So that video could be playing right now and you can put it in full screen and then at the bottom here
I'm scrolling through on Amazon
I can also take the phone and rotate it in the landscape position and continue to do this as well
If I tap on the three dots in the middle
I could change the order and put what's on the right to the left and vice versa and when you're all done
Basically hold on the three buttons in the middle drag to the right and it will take you out of split screen
So this is a really fun feature. I often use this for example
I want to watch a YouTube video and I'm maybe I'm texting someone or I'm just scrolling through social media
This is a really easy way to do it by just allowing you to use two apps at one time
Okay for the next tip. I want to show you how to
Launch the emergency mode now, what is the emergency mode? Well think of it like this it could be
let's say you're in an earthquake and
You know, you're trapped in a certain area and you probably don't have a lot of time to try to communicate
That's something that's happening to you
Well, if you press the power button five times it will take you into what is called the emergency mode like this
One two, three, four five and you have to press it fast. Yes. Let's try it one more time
There we go. So this is what the emergency SOS mode looks like
It will take you right to a screen where you can basically dial 9-1-1 and there's some other features you can activate as well
When you turn this on so to do that
We need to go to the settings and we need to basically plug in some more information
Swipe down from the top tap on the settings from here
go to safety and emergency and
Here are a list of sections that you should go through one by one and make sure these are all set up
Because in the event of an emergency either you're trapped somewhere or maybe you have a special medical condition
Where you might faint if your blood sugar is too low or maybe you are prone to have seizures
It could be anything you can think of and maybe someone would need to come to your aid to help you
They could look at your phone and see your relevant medical information to make sure they care for you properly
What you can also set up are what are called
emergency SOS alerts and
Emergency sharing which would basically send an alert to your friends and family to tell them. Hey, I'm in trouble and I need help
this is where I am and
It'll basically just send them your GPS corded locations
And it will record a quick video and audio of where you are to try to help them to track you down
So first you'll want to go to medical information
Here is where you'll plug in everything from your name your conditions blood type allergies current medications
All the things that would be important for a medical professional to see if they were trying to help you in an emergency
Next you establish your contacts plug in the people you would like to be alerted
when you trigger this mode and it will send them that SOS alert and
Then here is where you need to set up the different functions
So this shows you how to use the the setting and specifically you have to enable
Send SOS to emergency contacts as soon as you enable this
Now all of your people are going to be on a list and they'll get an alert if you trigger the mode
After you have a bunch of other options
So go through each one and make sure they're all turned on so that way if an emergency happens
All you have to do is press that power button five times and it will automatically take you into the emergency
SOS mode now if you're having trouble with that pressing it five times. There's another way to enable it which is
Swiping down from the top tapping on the settings wheel or excuse me swipe down twice
Tap on the power button and then here it will say emergency call if you tap on here
Then it will take you to the emergency call section and then here you can have your medical information show in there as well
so
This is a great thing to set up
Especially if you have any type of special conditions that could warrant you to faint lose consciousness
you name it your phone will now be there and a
Resource to help you when someone comes
So yeah guys, this is a great mode
I would definitely encourage you to set it up so that an emergency you are prepared now speaking of emergencies
let me move on to the next tip which is
Let's swipe down from the top swipe down again, and then we're gonna look for power saving
I want you to long press on the power saving mode now
There's two things. I want to show you with this. The first thing is
Let's say you're going to be out
For a long day and you're not going to have access to a charger and you want to make sure your phone does not die
On you in the middle of the day. Here's what you need to do come to this section and
You want to basically manually turn on the power saving mode?
Now the reason to do this is because this will force your phone to conserve battery
Right now in the current on the current settings your phone will probably last you most of the day if not through the whole day
But if you're using it a lot, you're you're you're watching videos. You're listening to music your battery is gonna drain faster
There's also a lot of functions that are happening in the background the phone that you're not aware of that are drain the battery
So if you know, you're gonna be out all day
Turn on power saving mode manually and make sure you're in the standard mode
and this way watch this it says it's gonna limit background network usage syncing and
location checking and
You can also hit the settings here to see other things
You may want to enable to further restrict the battery
If nothing else this is going to get you a few extra hours of battery life for the day
Now here's the other thing if you were in an emergency and you needed your phone to last even longer
You'd want to switch to the maximum power saving mode. Let me show you what this looks like in this setting
if you notice the battery the
Extended battery life is gonna jump up from four hours or see me four days to up to nine days
Then these are up to numbers meaning that they can fluctuate
but the point is is it's going to even further limit the background activity and what's happening on your phone and
It's gonna hopefully allow your phone to stay on for a long time
So if you need to communicate with someone where you are or you need to check, you know
The news or whatever your phone is able to keep working without you being having a charge
now if we hit the home button, I
Want to show you this is what your phone is gonna look like when it's in this max power saving mode in this mode
A lot of your apps are going to be grayed out because using these apps are going to
Basically drain your battery faster
So there will be certain apps that are lit up and the ones that are lit up are the ones that you can use if you
Swipe up, you'll see your whole app drawer
These are all the other apps
So it's restricting a lot of the apps because the goal is for it to help stretch your battery for a long period of time
If you want to use one of these apps that are grayed out
All you have to do is tap on the app and you can tap unpause
Temporarily if you tap on this
the app will now be
Open for you to use but temporarily and then it will go back to being sort of paused
because again
the goal is how do we stretch that battery life for a long time because you don't know when you're gonna be able to get
to a
power source, so
When you're done with this and ready to turn it off swipe down from the top swipe down again
Look for that that little power saving icon long press on it
you can either switch back to standard or just simply turn off power saving altogether and
We hit the home button
everything will be restored your wallpaper will be back all your apps will be unpaused and usable and
Everything will be like normal
This is a great thing to know about guys and I can't stress it enough
You never know when an emergency is going to hit and you're not going to be able to get to a power
source for a long time
If that happens the very first thing you want to do I would tell you
Um is make sure you turn on that power saving mode. So your battery is going to last so much longer
Now speaking of power. I did want to point out some really cool accessories that go with this phone
That are great when it comes to power consumption and extending your battery life
Now the first one is this little anchor nano, uh portable power bank
Now I love this thing and if you can see it really is kind of dingy because i've been using it so much
it has a
usbc at the top here
And basically I can just pop this right in my phone if I just need a quick charge up
Now I have so many days where I will just wake up
And I will have like forgotten to put my phone in the charger and now my phone's at like 15
And now I have to worry about like, oh I gotta go and my phone is like almost dying
So i'll plug this in and this will charge nice and fast
And it has a little battery indicator on the front here
So when I press the button, it'll show me, you know, how much battery, you know, each light represents 25
So i'll know exactly how much juice is left on this
And when i'm done
Pull this up pop this in my pocket and it's good to go. I can easily charge it with the usb-c as well
And this thing is great. I'll link this one on screen right here if you want to check it out
This is like such a clutch accessory. You just have to have because i'm telling you
You can't tell me there's days you don't wake up and you've forgotten to charge and you got to go somewhere
Well, as long as you got this you're good to go. This is a travel charger from a company called mfish
One of the coolest and most stylish chargers that i've seen this thing runs around 30
And it's such a great travel accessory and honestly even just to have around the house
So this is one has a retractable usb-c cable, so you don't have to carry a separate cable
second
This also has ports
Second this has a usb-c port that will charge up to 65 watts
And it has a full size usb as well that will go up to 60 watts
So you can charge three devices at one time and the wall plug is retractable
It'll come out and then it will just pop right back in like that
So this is another really great accessory as you know
This phone does not come with a charger in the box. It just comes with the cable
So for 30 bucks you have a wall charger that has a cable that's built in
You can take this with you on trips or just use it around the house and it looks really cool
It reminds me of like star wars
So anyway, i'll link this one on screen as well
If you guys want to check this one out, too
This thing has served me really well. And so I it's so easy to talk about it
This is not a sponsored plugin either
This is just accessories that I use for my phone and I figure if it's good for me, it's good for you guys
So definitely check this one out
I'll drop this in the description as well if you want to grab one through that link, too
Okay, guys, this next feature is like it's for the sports fans out there
If you love following sports, you have a favorite team that you're always, you know keeping up with when their games are
Um, you definitely want to enable this feature
So first thing you want to do is tap in the box here for google and just type in one of your favorite sports teams
Now for the sake of this i'm just going to pick a team that I know is playing today because I want you to be
Able to see the alert in real time
I'm going to type in uh team canada
for the fifa olympics
Let's see canada
Fifa
Okay
So this is the canadian men's national soccer team and i'm just going to tap follow
All you have to do is search your favorite team whichever team that is and then hit follow next to that team
And once you do that, you want to give the phone just a minute
What's going to happen is it's going to start following that team and whatever they're doing sports wise
Okay, check this out now
Because they're playing right now you can see the score of their game
so super cool, you can now see those kind of things on the lock screen and
When you're on the phone regularly, you can see the score in the upper left corner
So you can always stay up to date on how the game is going and if you tap on that little icon
You can see a pop-up
Of the score how the game is going a play-by-play and you can tap on it
To get even more details about the current game that they're playing
Now the cool thing too is
Um, if they're not playing it usually will show you when their next game is if they're in season
so
if you're a sports fan, I definitely encourage you to
To google each of your favorite teams and follow them so you can always stay up to date with when they're playing
And get all those details that will show up on your lock screen and on the phone
Now if you're a big sports fan drop your favorite team in the comment section down below show them some love
And make sure you hit that like button on the video as well
Because now you're going to be super up to date with that team and you're never going to miss any important moments
One last thing I want to show you guys is this really cool accessory from a company called alumu. This is a mag safe
A kickstand that you can put on the back of your phone
If you have a case that has that mag safe ring this pops right on it
And you can use this to one hold the phone
You have some extra grip and it's a stand for your phone
So you can have your phone sit in the portrait or the landscape position
This will just go right down just like this
And it makes it really easy for you to watch and follow your favorite sports and just videos or whatever
One other thing on the back. It has this cool built-in box cutter that you can easily access
And nobody would ever know because it's tucked away and it's hidden if you got value out of this video
Bump that like button down below
I hope you enjoyed these tips and tricks and hidden features
And if you have any other really cool tips like any cool things that you use on the phone you would like to share
Drop them in the comment section down below. I'd love to hear them as well
And if you would love a part two of this video, you can leave that in the comments as well
I'm going to link to two other really helpful videos one here and one here
Check those out as well so you can continue to learn all the cool things you can do with this phone
Thanks again for watching take care. And as always have a good one
