AI GeneratedA family of Purdue alumni, including the narrator, his mother, and aunt, visit the campus for the homecoming game. The trip involves attending formal events, exploring campus renovations, tailgating, and sharing memories of their time as \"Boilermakers\" before the guests depart for upcoming international travels.
I love the band. I love the parade. Oh yeah, I love marching through the campus.
You better believe I'm excited. I like all this stuff.
So mom and Jan have come to visit us in Indiana and since the three of us are all Boilermakers,
we're heading up to Purdue for the homecoming game. We're probably going to hit up some tailgates.
They're going to a ball, which we're not going to film, and Kate is here for support as always.
See, he doesn't want you to see us all dressed up and looking pretty.
She couldn't even make it through the first part without saying something.
I told him I wasn't going to talk. And I'm not. I'm not going to talk.
Uh-huh. We have it all on camera. I just want to say hi to you all.
So it's begun. We haven't even gotten on the road yet.
Are you two excited? Oh yeah. Not really.
I love the band. I love the parade. Oh yeah, I love marching through the campus.
You better believe I'm excited. I like all this stuff.
And then there's this one.
Who says Peshaw and then when she's there it's yay.
I always get into the mood.
That's easy.
Is that what dad used to say?
He didn't have to say it.
I never said no.
So what do you guys have going on tonight?
We have a President's Council dinner and we have a reception at six, dinner at seven,
dinner in a program, and then an afterglow party.
Afterglow?
I know, that's kind of funny.
Well, since it's going to be outside, I doubt it, Chris.
Unless they set up, you know, dance floors outside, they could.
Well, what about in the dinner area?
Would you want to eat or dance?
I'd rather dance.
She wants to dance.
Oh, is that the SAE house?
I think so.
You were a dancing fool at the SAE house?
No, I was not a very good dancer until a little later on in life.
It's only been in the past couple of years where people seem to enjoy my dancing.
All right, we're here.
So I had to drop my mom in Antoff.
They've got their room and the guys at the valet were nice enough to let us
park in front of the hotel for a little bit while we explore a bunch of the changes.
So back when I was here, we're walking through the Memorial Union.
It was old school, no updates or anything else,
and they've completely gutted it and redone it and it looks amazing.
They even have an Amazon store.
So this is the thing my mom's going to.
Dancing is happening 9 to 11.
It's gonna be on.
We're getting snuck in.
Someone is well caffeinated.
You got it.
Time to go find our RV parking for the weekend.
Apparently, it's a mile and a half walk to the stadium.
We're in line to go into the parking lot and park.
We came last year and it was all grass fields where they parked us and a bunch of people sunk.
We had Leo, our truck camper at the time.
We had four wheel drive, so we were able to get out.
So I guess they've moved everybody into this parking lot, which I think is a much better idea.
We're on the rooftop deck with our chairs,
just hanging out watching the hot mess ensue in the parking lot.
That was the hot mess I was referring to.
The tow truck guys are pretty organized.
You can learn a thing or two from them.
Yeah, you can.
All right, well, we're just gonna hang out and see what happens this evening.
Yep, tomorrow's the big game.
Good morning.
I don't know if anyone's ever noticed, but Kate's always the last one out of bed.
That's because you're making coffee.
Uh-huh, that's what it is.
All right, well, I'll get my coffee made and then you can get up whenever you want.
So as Kate comes up the ladder, I'll tell you a quick Purdue fact.
We have one of the best flight schools, well, opinion, best flight schools in the country.
Kate was also reminding me to let you know that Neil Armstrong,
along with a lot of other astronauts, have graduated from Purdue.
Boiler up.
Camera down.
So the plan is we're gonna head on to campus, see what we can find, grab some lunch,
and then we are meeting my mom and aunt at the hotel,
and then we're gonna go tailgating with them.
That should be interesting.
Boiler up, old-fashioned.
Well, we found the ladies and we are currently walking to their tailgate, so this should be fun.
My mom and aunt have been just hopping from tailgate to tailgate.
We've just been mooching off the free food and alcohol, and then we're gonna go into the game.
He's like, get out of my way.
Sorry, little guy.
You got it.
I called my mom.
She and my aunt are gonna continue the party after the game.
It's almost 11 p.m., and we're heading back to the camper.
We are worn out.
Those two are party animals.
Yes, they are.
I'm ready for bed.
Yeah, we're gonna see them in the morning and take them to the airport for their ride home.
I've gotta take you to the airport now.
Yep.
I have to go, though, because I have to leave for Hawaii in a couple days.
Otherwise, I'd extend my trip.
So wait, you're doing Hawaii?
Then Virginia, Alexandria, and Richmond, and then Thailand.
Okay, and that's it for the year.
You get home for two weeks, and then Jordan and Egypt.
Hey, if any of you are in any of those places, let me know.
We can grab a coffee together.
Alexandria, Richmond, Virginia, maybe Austin, Texas.
Well, Thailand, don't forget that.
I'll be busy.
And Jordan, you're Petra.
But, I mean, Petra and Egypt.
But that would really be something to run into one of Joey's viewers.
Basically, if you're anywhere in the world, let her know.
But that is, that's it for this video.
I have to get these two ladies to the airport.
Sorry about that.
This has been a wonderful week.
Yes, it has.
Thank you guys for coming out.
Oh man, thank you for having us.
It's hard being away from Kate and Joe for so long.
I got spoiled last summer, you know.
I think, count Joe and Kate how important it is that we do another road trip, guys.
A lot of you write to me, when am I going to do another trip?
You have to write to them because they have to invite me.
Well, if you don't know what she's talking about, check out our whole series, Summer with Mom,
where we took this one on a 10-week road trip around the country.
Literally, coast to coast, north to south.
So check that out.
We went 12,000 miles, didn't we?
But that is it for this video.
I don't know how many times I'm going to need to say that today.
You've got your mother in here, though.
That's Janet back there.
You all know her from the other videos.
Can you see Kate in the background?
I don't have her head.
Guys, thank you for watching and being with us again.
Thank you, guys.
We'll see you next time.
Bye.
