New at 10, San Francisco's top chefs, restaurants, wineries and local businesses came together
for a sold-out celebration of the city's vibrant food, wine and culture scene. Hundreds of guests
filled the conservatory at 1 Sansum in downtown San Francisco for the 25th annual Best of the Bay,
which was hosted by San Francisco Magazine. The event featured some of the Bay Area's top
restaurants, wineries and local businesses, giving guests the chance to sample standout
dishes, drinks and other local favorites. Among those taking part was celebrity chef Tyler
Florence. His restaurant Miller and Lux was recently named the Bay Area's Best Steakhouse
by San Francisco Magazine. Organizers say the night isn't just about recognizing the Best of the Bay,
it's about celebrating the people, places and businesses that make San Francisco special.
Best of the Bay, we're celebrating 25 years. This is, to me, this is where San Francisco comes
together. I'm going to say later tonight, my job is to hold a mirror up to the city and say,
look at this big, beautiful, crazy, architecturally sublime, culinary, I mean,
the culinary scene here is spectacular. The art scene, you'll see all those people here tonight,
you know, like they represent the best of the best in San Francisco and what we cover.
San Francisco has more Michelin stars than anywhere else in America. We have the best raw
resources from a food perspective of anywhere else in America, and the proof is in the pudding. The
food here is outstanding and delicious, and tonight at the Best of the Bay event, you get
the chance to try everything, which is really fun. Proceeds from the event benefit the Union
Square Foundation, which supports programs that help strengthen the neighborhood through arts,
culture and culinary initiatives. Organizers say it's a way to celebrate the city while also
investing in its future.
