Well, today is the final day of the Alameda County Fair.
Yeah, we've got a special treat because we are live there all morning long
showing you some of the cool activities happening today, including
junior livestock auction, tractor pulls, all of it.
Let's go to president. Welcome to Karen Boyd.
She's the spokesperson for the Alameda County Fair.
And you are smiling. You're almost done.
Oh, it is. It's been such an incredible fair.
We're so excited to have our last day just be a total blowout of family fun
and something for everybody here in Pleasanton.
In a few words, how would you describe this year, Karen?
This year has been fantastic.
The weather has been spectacular, sunny and warm and beautiful.
It's the hundred and fourteenth annual Alameda County Fair.
It's the largest fair in northern California.
We've just had such a great time.
We have daily for four times a day pig races.
We have three places where you can go watch World Cup soccer.
We've got the petting farm.
So that's the fun thing for the ag.
And then today we're here at the artisan market.
We have more than 30 handicrafts who are displaying their wares
from homemade macaroons and nut butters to clothing.
So there's something for everybody here.
There's homebrew and floral competition.
So the traditional things you think of at a county fair,
as well as our agricultural history.
And then we can't forget the thrilling rides, the rides for littles.
Today, we have a tractor pull.
So lots of fun.
What are the most popular attractions, the things that people over generations
really want to come come back and see year after year?
Yeah, you know, our survey says that the number one reason
that people come to the Alameda County Fair is the food.
And we have, of course, the traditional fair classics like corn dogs
and cotton candy.
But we also have kind of zany things like pickled corn dogs
and watermelon boba milk tea, all kinds of fun things.
We're going to be seeing some special food items.
The winner of our Foodies Choice Award a little bit later this morning.
All right.
Well, make your pitch for families that haven't quite made it out there yet.
Today's the final final.
Why should they come out?
What should they expect?
Well, you should come out and have a great time during the day.
You can go and see a pig race.
You can go to the petting zoo for the kids.
But also this evening, we've got our movies on the lawn.
We have a drone show at 930 and then our final concert
at the Big O' Tire Concert Series.
So there really is something morning, noon and night to come and see.
This is one of the longer county fairs.
I think it opened almost a month ago in mid-June.
So what does it take to put this together?
And after today, does the planning start for next year right away?
Oh, it sure does.
This is a year round thing.
Yes, it's an amazing feat.
I mean, the team here is really incredible and it's very, very,
you know, it's local grown to people have been coming who work here,
have been coming to the fair their whole lives.
Some of their kids work here.
So it really is generational fun.
And the and the guests as well come from all over Alameda County.
We've really strived to have something for everybody,
all ages and all interests.
So anybody who comes on out is going to have a great time.
All right, Karen, what's more fun setting up or tearing down?
Because you've got a lot of work to do in the next couple of days.
Yeah, you know what? It's all fun. It's all great.
It's been a really fun fair season this year.
We're thrilled.
And people have come out and enjoyed the beautiful weather
and all the things that the fair has to offer.
So it's not too late.
Today's your last day. Get in the car and head on down to Pleasanton.
All right.
And it's not too late for us to keep checking back in with you
for some coverage throughout our morning show.
But for now, we appreciate your time.
Karen Boyd, spokesperson for the Alameda County Fair.
Today's the last day.
If you're watching, it's your last chance to come check it out for this year.
Karen, we appreciate you.
Save a corn dog for me. All right, Karen.
Thank you so much. Oh, absolutely.
Come on out. All right.
All the best weather wise.
We've got this monsoonal.
