Artificial intelligence continues to be a hot topic of discussion whether it's
creating controversy or new opportunities. So here's the latest
Apple suing OpenAI while Meta's new AI tool is causing some backlash. Alex
Whitler joins us from the Fox 5 newsroom with more on both stories. Yeah
artificial intelligence is here to stay and so far the controversy surrounding
it are two so I'll fill you in on the Apple lawsuit against OpenAI then we'll
take a closer look at the backlash surrounding Meta's new and now dropped
AI tool. So Apple accuses Chad GPT's maker of a coordinated pattern of theft
to steal trade secrets for its new AI hardware. The lawsuit names two former
Apple engineers including OpenAI's new hardware chief. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman
responded to the suit on X saying he's not afraid of Apple but has tremendous
respect for them. He went on to call Apple an S-tier company an elite
business if you will. And then there's Meta hitting the pause button on its
newest AI tool following a wave of privacy complaints. The tech giant
recently unveiled Muse image for Instagram which allowed users to
generate pictures by using photos posted on people's public profiles. The tool was
met with some major backlash over its opt-out policy requiring users to
disable the feature in order for their photos to be excluded from the image
generator. So Meta has now dropped the feature from the app altogether admitting
the initial rollout missed the mark and I can tell you that was a big topic of
conversation among my friends Caitlin. I was ready to go completely private for
my Instagram. Oh you aren't alone Alex. Thanks for the latest there.
