Hello everyone, I'm Sarah of Rich Textures Crochet and welcome. Today we're going to
learn how to crochet this staggered berry stitch. This is a beautiful stitch pattern. The texture
is quite solid, quite dense and it's all to the front side of your fabric. These little
berry stitches are just mini cluster stitches and they have a really neat look to them. They're not
full double crochet clusters as you will see, but they're just little and quite dainty. Creates a
great fabric. Today for the tutorial we're going to be using a little bit of a medium or worsted
weight yarn. This is the Heather Lee yarn by Wee Crochet and Knit Picks. We'll also be using a
five millimeter or an H8 crochet hook. Links to these items can be found in the description of
this video. Also down in the description you'll find a direct link to the free written instructions
which are free to follow on richtexturescrochet.com. You'll also find a direct link to my Amazon shop
where you can find just a few of my crochet books, a couple crochet pattern books, as well as an
intermediate crochet stitches if you enjoy learning stitches and again it's linked in the description
of this video. So thank you so much for joining me. While you're here I invite you to take a look
around. Don't forget to subscribe. This channel is updated every single week with free crochet
patterns and stitch tutorials. Let's grab our hooks and yarn and get started. Now our stitch today is
worked in rows. You're going to begin by making a slip knot and you're then going to work a foundation
chain. Your foundation chain today will need to be an even number of stitches. So today I'm going to
go ahead and chain 22. Once you have that foundation chain worked you're going to begin row
one by working a row of single crochet stitches. So we're going to single crochet into the second
chain from our hook and then single crochet into each stitch all the way across. Your chain one at
the start does not count as a stitch. At the end of row one you're going to chain one and turn your
work. Now for row two we're going to begin by working one slip stitch into our first stitch.
Next work a cluster stitch into your next. To work your cluster stitch you're going to yarn over,
insert your hook into the next stitch, yarn over, draw up a loop and draw that loop through one loop
on your hook. You're then going to yarn over, insert your hook into the same stitch, yarn over,
draw up a loop. You'll have four loops on your hook. Yarn over and pull through all four loops.
This is your cluster stitch. You're then going to slip stitch into the next stitch.
We're going to repeat this all the way across. Cluster stitch into the next stitch
followed by a slip stitch into the next all the way across and you'll finish off with one slip
stitch in your final stitch. I am here at the end of row two. I'm going to slip stitch into my final
stitch, chain one and turn your work. You should now see the texture of those cluster stitches
there on your front side. Now for row three we're simply going to single crochet into that first
stitch which is a slip stitch and then single crochet into the next stitch. You're going to
repeat that all the way across. A single crochet into each slip stitch and each cluster stitch
all the way across for your row three. At the end of row three, chain one and turn your work.
We're now going to work some cluster stitches but we want to begin working them in between these
cluster stitches down below. So to do so we're going to start off our row four with a slip stitch
into each of the first two stitches. So there's one and two. You're then going to work your cluster
stitch into your next slip stitch into the next stitch and cluster stitch into the next. You're
going to repeat this all the way across and finish off with one final slip stitch into your final
stitch. Now here at the end of row four and we're finishing off with one slip stitch in each of the
final two stitches here. Chain one, turn your work. You should now see these staggered berry stitches
worked in between your berry stitches down below. Now for row five we're going to single crochet
into the first stitch and then single crochet into each stitch all the way across. Now for
the pattern that is it as far as the repeat is concerned. From now on you're going to repeat
rows two, three, four, and five for as long as you would like then fasten off
and weave in your ends and that's all there is to working this staggered berry stitch.
So thank you so much for joining me. Once again while you're here I invite you to subscribe,
take a look around and I look forward to seeing you again soon. Until then, happy crocheting. Bye!
