Video Summary
AI GeneratedThe narrator returns to Peru after a year and a half for a climbing trip. The journey begins with a climbing festival and screenings of previous films for the local community. The primary goal of the trip is to explore and develop a massive, untouched rock wall discovered during a previous expedition, requiring community approval and high-altitude hiking to reach.
Vlog 98. It's almost 100. Well, after almost a year and a half we're back in Peru. This time
I started the trip with my dad and it happened to be a climbing festival organized by our friend
Coco. We spent a couple days at Grand Diplomé with everybody and in one of the evenings there
was a big dinner for everybody and I shot our two movies from last year. It was nice to remember
everything we did last year and also to share those images with the locals. Locals being like
village locals who might not watch a lot of climbing movies so it was probably really cool
for them to see what happens up in their valleys. If you haven't checked out our destination videos
from Peru they're on our Coldhouse Media Vimeo channel and there's two videos one lead and one
bouldering so you should check those out if you're looking for a deeper story. Actually we'll just
tease you a little bit with what's in the video some of our more favorite bouldering and lead
climbs that we established in our last trip in Peru. It had full value climbing on really small
edges and then a weird mantle and a really fun top out where you just climbed up the serret
to the top of the trees and a good quality of basalt some really really nice features.
Another special thing about Peru is that there was tons tons of potential for development
so what we did for many days is just walk around explore that valley of Chacahuayasca but also
one day we were aiming at a wall that we never reached but we ended up in that parallel valley
we were stuck pretty early on by a big rock in the middle of the road but we could see
enough of the valley to wanting to continue so we spent maybe 30 minutes an hour trying to move
that rock. Yeah we used the the tire jack from the car and like just sticks and rocks to move this
big rock it was awesome. Oh yeah! And at some point there was a huge ditch. We are walking now
we had to park the car. We just wanted to see what was above that hill in front of us. And we're
getting pretty high. It was freaking crazy. It was worth it. Just to see such a big piece of rock
untouched I think that's what got us so excited is like just a big big wall. So we took very bad
pictures of it and that's what we lived on for a year and a half after that just dreaming looking
at those pictures. So our main project when we came back this year in September was to build that
wall but funny thing is when we landed we had no idea if we would be able to because we didn't have
the approval yet but that was one of the first thing that I did before Josh arrived is meet up
with the presidents of the communities and they were super excited for us to be interested where
their valley and their lands and they wanted to help in this project and they were like super
excited they even just wanted to walk to the base of of the wall to check it out and see what it
would look like from from under and they gave us the approval to go for it so that's what we did.
Hey look who I found! Hey! Josh is here! Taxi! Taxi! Taxi! Taxi! Hola! Que tal?
We're back one year later. What's our plan? We are about to hike to the top of the uh
oh man I forget uh contour? Contour Sayana. Contour Sayana. We're about to hike to the top of the
Contour Sayana. This is the wall obviously and right now we're gonna walk around here
down in Scully on the ridge. A few things that we had to figure out was if we'd get to the top easily
luckily we could you could just walk up a steep hill and do a really cool ridge traverse that we
didn't know if it was gonna be easy so we just tied in anyway and my brother was up there with us
this wall is really high it tops out a little above 4800 meters working at that altitude hiking
at that altitude uh it's crazy it's a whole different ball game you have to walk slow
breathe slow think slow yeah we got to the to the point the dead end where we dropped in some
acres and that's where the adventure really begins and you'll see that in another video
yep vlog 99 will still be in Peru and vlog 100 we're still thinking of something special
it's gotta be something special do you have any ideas or questions about our travels or plans or
something you want to see something you want to hear something you want to know
thanks for following thanks for hanging out with us yeah it's been awesome having
the support of everybody and follow-ups and all the questions on youtube so
don't hesitate to keep going and keep watching
