STORM WATCH: Dangerous storms continue into this evening in Brooklyn

Thanks for joining us. I'm meteorologist Skyler de Harmon. We continue to track these showers and storms as they move through. So we're gonna continue to do so as we progress throughout the rest of the evening. But as we head throughout this evening, there's gonna be additional rounds of some thunderstorms. The question is, how strong do they get? So we're gonna continue to be monitoring it. But as we head into later parts of tonight, there's gonna be additional rounds. I would say another two or three rounds are possible with this. So depending on how much energy we get out there in atmosphere is gonna impact how severe these storms get. I'm talking the potential for dangerous and destructive. Now, as we head into the overnight, things are gonna improve. But until we get there, we do have that severe thunderstorm threat, the potential to have numerous severe and dangerous storms in our area. We've already seen a rough start to the afternoon and evening, and we're gonna continue to see that potential. Now, depending on how these juice up, we have the potential to see those gusts of miles per hour. There's also the potential for some hail between an inch and two inches. It's easy for with this smoke to get some of those bigger hailstones because there's more particles to cling onto. There's also the chance to have some rotation within this, which could lead to some tornado threat. So seeing this, we have the chance this brownish color that's gonna indicate there's the potential in our area to have a few tornadoes. Not a guarantee in every neighborhood, but there is the chance. So this comes from those rotating thunderstorms. The wind gets so intense, the conditions get just right that there could be some of the rotation that can chance continues into tonight. We've already had those flash flood concerns. We've seen those advisories, those warnings issued. We continue to be in a medium flash flood risk, which means we could continue to have some of those scattered flash floods. So want to be mindful, want to continue to check in on your neighbors, especially if they're in some of those lower levels and talking about basement apartments, garden apartments, even first floor apartments.
