We're continuing to track these storms as they continue to lash our borough.
So in terms of what's been moving through, we've seen a whole lot of lightning and a whole lot of rain,
prompting some of those flash flood concerns. So make sure that you are staying safe,
that you are on a higher level of your home if you have it.
You can go to a neighbor's house that's upstairs, try to do that because this is dangerous, what we're dealing with.
So take a look at what's been moving through on that radar.
We talked about the multiple waves of treacherous weather that we're going to be dealing with,
and that's what we've seen so far this morning and into early parts of the afternoon.
So taking a look, you saw that first wave, then there's a second wave, there's more waves on the way.
So make sure that you're staying safe and staying weather aware throughout the rest of your evening.
In terms of what's been going on, we've seen flooding downpours, and that was expected, unfortunately.
We're in this medium flash flood risk for today.
Scattered flash flooding is already occurring throughout our borough, so we want to be mindful of that,
especially those areas that tend to pond or puddle when there's even just a little bit of rain,
because this is a lot, a lot of rain.
Those flood-prone zones, subways, train stations, those low-lying areas, underpasses, things like that,
small areas that tend to pond and puddle are going to be the ones that are most likely to start,
but we're under that risk for the majority of our area.
So flash flood safety, they're dangerous.
They lead to road closures, and rightfully so, because you don't know how deep that water goes.
You might think it's only an inch or two because that's what maybe you're used to in terms of what the road topography is,
but it could be deeper, and it could have things in it like power lines that come down from the flooding or from the wind.
So just be mindful of that.
Check on your neighbors in low apartments.
If you have any friends downstairs, invite them up.
Come hang out.

Make sure that you're keeping weather aware because you want to be checking on those in basement-level apartments
and garden-level apartments.
Also make sure you have our app downloaded so you can get those urgent weather notifications.
Just don't drive through flooded water.
Just don't do it.
It's not the only thing we're dealing with is the flooding, also the potential for severe storms.
We're in a numerous area.
We're at risk for numerous pockets of severe weather.
We've already seen several waves of this.
So want to be mindful of the potential for some very strong gusts, strong to damaging and dangerous.
I'm talking 50, 60, potentially 70-mile-per-hour gusts in some of those gusty thunderstorms as they move through.
Those could bring with it pretty big hail as well as frequent lightning.
We've already seen a whole lot of lightning.
The smoke allows some of those electrons to separate, and that's why we get some of those stronger, more powerful strikes.
They're able to come from higher up in the clouds.
So this is dangerous, and there is the possibility to have some rotation within this that could lead to a few tornadoes.
There's possibly going to be some in our area.
It's not a guarantee.
It's going to be your neighborhood.
But want to make sure that you're prepared in case it is.
That's going to be getting away from windows.
That's going to be heading to an interior area of your home.
So we're going to continue to keep an eye on this throughout the rest of the afternoon.
