Hi, friends, hello everyone! Welcome to my first episode of Slow Chinese Podcast.
Here, you can listen, and repeat after me, repeat after me,
This will help you practice your pronunciation, accent, and spoken confidence.
I will speak in slow, clear Chinese in this video.
Recently, I moved into a new home.
This is the first time I've lived on a high floor.
Previously, the houses where I used to live were all on the first or second floor.
This time staying in a high-rise building, I feel my mood is especially different.
I really like my new home.
My living room window faces west, so the afternoon sunlight is especially good every day.
The room is very bright. My bedroom balcony faces south, so sunlight comes in every morning.
The house is full of sunlight, and I feel very warm, so warm.
After moving into my new home, I bought a lot of potted plants.
Green plants are plants.
I wasn't very good at growing plants before; I'm a beginner.
I'm a beginner; this is my first time growing plants.
I've heard that most plants die because they're overwatered.
I want to slowly learn how to take care of them.
I bought some large indoor plants and also some small, attractive ferns.
I'm also planning to grow some herbs that can be used in cooking, such as mint, rosemary, perilla, and Thai basil.
These plants are not only beautiful but also very practical.
After moving into my new home, I found that my lifestyle had improved; I became more willing to cook meals myself.
A few days ago, I saw a method for making noodles in a video from my family, and ever since I saw it this morning, I've been really craving them.
I came home at noon and tried making it myself, adding chili peppers, eggs, pork, vegetables, and so on according to my own taste.
It turned out very delicious and nutritious. Because it was so tasty, I made it again last night.
During this period, I've had a deep realization: people's life states are interconnected. If I'm under great stress or in a bad mood, I tend to order takeout frequently.
Staying up late, eating late-night snacks, not wanting to exercise, not wanting to take care of myself—on the other hand, if I'm willing to cook for myself and willing to exercise, my mood will improve.
My routine will also improve, and my body will feel lighter, but I've realized my life didn't suddenly get better.
When I'm unhappy and anxious, I don't completely stop living my life; I still keep doing things bit by bit, gradually encouraging myself, without giving up entirely.
It's just this small persistence that has gradually helped me come out of it, and during this period, I've also found little joys that belong solely to me.
These things can quickly lift my mood and give me energy. The small things that help me feel better are these.
First, swimming, exercise.
Second, cook your own meals and eat properly.
Third, go shopping at the supermarket and slowly savor life.
Fourth, call mom, chat with friends, go out for socializing.
I'm someone who enjoys being around people; just having a simple chat with others can relax me greatly.
I have a friend who previously gave me excellent advice; he told me to keep a record, to record my time for two weeks.
Take a close look at where you actually spend your time each day and identify the problems in how you manage your tasks.
I carefully documented for a full half month, and I finally realized that my slow work pace isn't because I work slowly, but because my work is constantly interrupted—interrupted repeatedly.
After identifying my own issues and recognizing my strengths, I set three new lifestyles for myself.
First, no matter how long or short the time, one must do something.
Even if there are only thirty minutes today, make progress on the work.
Completing is more important than perfection; don't waste a single day.
Second, set a time limit for your bad mood.
I allow myself to feel sad, I allow myself to feel anxious, but only for a short while at most.
When the time comes, you must immediately get moving, continue living, continue working.
You shouldn't stay stuck in negative emotions forever.
Third, consistently maintain your good habits: try to cook every day, exercise occasionally, rest well, and chat with people often.
Once these small things are stabilized, my mood and work will gradually become more stable too—people's states naturally change.
Most importantly, we must find small things that can bring us stability and happiness.
Moreover, keeping records and noting the time is an excellent habit.
Many times we think we are very busy, but in reality, we are only feeling busy.
Only by carefully recording can we clearly see our own problems and gradually correct them.
At the same time, we must also recognize our strengths and affirm ourselves.
If you don't believe in yourself, no one else will believe in you.
Life doesn't suddenly get better; it gets better bit by bit, day by day, through small things one by one.

Let's talk about what you learned today.

For me, swimming, cooking, and chatting help me become better.
Today I learned something that can help me become better.

Actually, the most important thing to master a language is to speak it aloud and practice communication.
These videos can help improve your listening skills, but what about your speaking and pronunciation?
That's why we need Shadow Reading. Shadow Reading means having a native Chinese speaker to practice your pronunciation, accent, and spoken confidence.
