Video Summary
AI GeneratedLost Villa is an award-winning luxury residence in Bali that seamlessly integrates high-end architecture with the surrounding jungle. Built on principles of harmony and sustainability, the home features bespoke artisan craftsmanship, world-class interior design, and a biophilic approach that preserves the natural ecosystem while offering boutique hotel-level luxury.
Welcome to the Lost Villa, my home in the jungle.
Right now we are here in Bali, Indonesia, just a few minutes outside of Canggu
at what is undoubtedly the most detailed home on the island.
I'm going to be showing you this six-bedroom home, plus the spa, plus tree house, a cinema,
an incredible jungle backyard, and a lot of other hidden gems that I've never showed on this channel.
Lost Villa was designed with three main principles from day one. The first was build a home that
belongs to Bali. From the rugged stone facade to the recycled wooden walkways, this home would
be carefully crafted to blend into the island instead of dominating it. The second was build
a home that let you hear Bali. That meant the home needed to have the sounds of running water
on all sides. It needed to protect the trees so that this home could be an oasis for the creatures
that call this jungle home. And the third was build a home that let you connect with Bali,
which is why we built this home for barefoot living, open doors, and an endless natural breeze.
After four years of designing, building, and chasing perfection, Lost Villa is the result.
And thanks to the absolutely genius designs by Single Art, Lost Villa is the proud winner of
the best bathroom design, the best kitchen design, and the best overall residential interior of
Indonesia. I'm headed to Bangkok to receive the awards and find out if we move on to the best in
Asia and hopefully even beyond. Wish us luck. It's time to finally give you the tour of Lost Villa.
If you come with me into the courtyard, you're immediately going to be greeted by some of those
first details. That would be the thousands of stones that have been carefully laid out
to create the swirling currents of the Bali Ocean. You can feel the movement as you walk
through this driveway, and you see the patterns. Every single tree we designed around, even this
walkway. This home started as a jungle, and it ended with a jungle. I worked closely with the
architects Casetas and Tus, and they made sure this home preserved the jungle, and in the end,
only two minor-sized trees were removed. Up this staircase is something truly special, the crown
jewel and the literal crown of Lost Villa. I'll take you up there later, but first of all, come with
me over here. First thing you'll notice is very unusual in Bali, is we have a carport. If you've
got your 20 best friends coming over with their scooters, you got more than enough room. Most of
our guests will use our private driver, and this vehicle becomes a mobile living room. Whether
you're heading into town for dinner, a daily gym run, or taking a weekend trip to go get lost in
Bali, you can do it in complete comfort. Let's enter into Lost Villa. Now what's so special about this
home is that every little piece of this home is a statement. It's an experience, and this door is
something absolutely extraordinary. And this pivot door isn't just beautiful, it's a collaboration
with my next door neighbor, who is a local artisan here in Bali. He hand-carved this door, and this
front pivot door took him two months to carve. This door is 250 kilograms, and it moves with a
single finger. And all that is powered by a little pivot from Fritz Juergens. And here we've got this
beautiful matte finish of a dark dragon-like stone, and engraved inside of it is the Lost Villa logo.
Welcome into the villa. This is where you feel your stress levels completely drop. It is peace,
it is serenity, and it is an entire one-floor living approach with tons of space and spread
between rooms, and everywhere you look, green. This is where life happens. Let me show you the living room.
So as you come down these solid stone steps that look like they've been carved into the side of a
mountain, you're met by an actual mountain. Right behind me here has to be one of the defining pieces
of Lost Villa, and certainly this room. This is a solid slab of stone that was cut into massive
pieces. It's probably about this thick, and a few gentlemen, a few talented artisans, spent over a
month carving it, and turning it into that wall that you see right here. As you come into the
living room, you've got this massive sofa that can easily sit 20 of your closest friends. We've used
it to host masterminds, and we've also had board game nights. And these coffee tables are often the
center of the action, and you'll notice that Lost Villa does something that most homes will never.
We pay attention to the details that people glance over, the details that people will cost-cut, but
that's the reason why this video won't even do this home justice. But one of them that I have to
point out is this double-layered marble top countertop with this floating aesthetic. Each of
the furniture pieces in this home are either imported from designer brands, but everything else
has been one-of-one designed by SingleArt, the design team that imagined this entire interior
and so many other parts of Lost Villa. Now keeping on with the jungle theme, the carpet is an extension
of it. You have a bunch of leaves here that were hand-stitched and hand-tufted in Jakarta by a brand
named Jakarta Rugs, and each of our furniture pieces have recessed LEDs to give that really
beautiful soft underglow, especially in the evening. I'll show you Lost Villa after dark
because it only gets prettier when the sun goes down. One of the best things of Lost Villa is what
you're now hearing. It is that hybrid lifestyle of indoors and outdoors, being able to experience the
finest furnishings and the finest detailings in all of Bali, while also being able to open up
dozens of slider doors across this home and be immersed in the sounds of the roaring waterfalls
of the backyard, the movement of the trees and the wind, and the dozens of birds and cicadas that
call this place home. Now the ultimate compliments I've received on the space is how cozy it is,
because that is a challenge when you start to go wide and tall, and I think one of the parts that
allows that is the fact that this living room is almost like a separate micro space within the
living room. This drop down in height really creates a little bit of separation and division,
and then you come up two of these solid stone steps and you are brought into another zone here.
What's so special about this is that these chairs, these Gloucester seats, are able to be rotated,
but in this orientation they're a perfect reading nook, a place to have your morning tea and to
enjoy this view, a view of the clouds, the sky, and the jungle. Not even this full in-depth tour will
show you every detail in this home because there's just too many of them, but one of the special
parts of this living room is the sound system. Inside of here I've got two 12-inch subwoofers,
and if you turn with me here, up top on this wall you've actually got two custom-built
massive stereo speakers, and they have been used to turn this room into a discotheque.
We've had a couple parties, but for me it's the simplicity of just going onto Spotify,
picking the zone I'm in, and I can now set the music to play living room, in my master room,
in the cinema, in the back, by the pool, and now I even set speakers in the treehouse. So this entire
home has been smart-systemed to have music playing everywhere you want it, and I think that's been
one of the unsung luxury touches of this home, being able to just walk from one zone to having
the song continue into the next. Now the only way this home was able to be designed to this degree
is actually by living here. Every single part of this home over the last three years has actually
been reimagined and redesigned on the fly. Originally this was a metal support with a gap
in it, and so we filled all of these gaps inside the home with our tribal print and our hand-carved
patterns, and that extends all the way to the horizontal crossbeams. Let me show you the dining
area. You don't have to go too far, but there's a lot to see here. These are custom-designed dining
room table chairs, designed and dreamed up by Single Art, from the brass bottom to the curvature
to the use of leather across the backrest. Beneath the dining table, another massive leaf carpet,
all one of one, and custom-made for Las Villas. We've had tons of dinners, we've had DJs.
That's pretty cool. Now I saved one of my favorites for last. These, they're not lights,
they're floating art. These are bocce pendant lights. They come from Vancouver, Canada,
where I'm from, and these were melt-blown, hand-designed, hand-built lights, and they
gracefully light the space while bringing so much personality. And just behind you here are
another set of 25 of them. What I love about this living area is that life happens on the couch,
but it also happens in the kitchen, and this massive open space allows you to seamlessly
go from one space to the other, and when my lovely girlfriend is preparing us meals,
it still feels like we're all socializing, even if I'm on the couch with friends and she's in
the kitchen cooking with her friends. We're all still hanging out, and yet we have separate zones
for privacy. Let me show you what won this kitchen the title Best in Indonesia, and hopefully soon,
maybe even Best in the World. Over here, we've got what I call the Maserati of Las Villas,
because designing this thing, it may look like an island, but there's like a hundred components that
had to come together from all over the world. The first thing you're going to notice is we've got
recessed LED underglow, we've got carved panels in the front, we've got custom-designed bar
stools, and to allow you to cook seamlessly, to suck up all the smoke without having the disturbance
of a giant hood, we have a FIM hood. So this was actually brought in from Italy, and it allows us
to basically suction into the island, keeping this entire area open and clear, and on top,
instead of a hood, look what we've got there. This is one of my favorite brands on the planet,
and this is Henge. They design some of the most elaborate and detailed industrial pieces,
and they're from Italy, and this pendant light was a must for my living room. The surface that
you're looking at here, it's actually not real stone. This is Dekton, and this engineered stone
top surface is actually scratch-proof, it's torch-proof, it is incredibly strong, and it
gives me the confidence that in years from now, it's going to look just as good as it does today.
And what we did very uniquely is we built the stove into the island. Now that definitely took
a little bit of an engineering feat, but we got there. And just behind me, we've got more Dekton
on the backsplash. As you look up there, you'll actually see that we used onyx, which is a real
stone, but if you cut it thin enough, you can actually illuminate the backside to get that
beautiful glow, and it's basically nature's most beautiful light. Now over here, this is probably
my favorite machine. We've got the Victoria Arduino espresso machine. I make a mean espresso.
Okay, I'm not that good. Ruby makes an amazing cappuccino, lavender lattes, I can't even keep
track. She's always adding new ingredients, and this is where it all happens. But there's more
details to be seen here, because even this here, this fridge is concealed inside of a stone cabinet
to make it seamlessly hide away and become part of the kitchen.
Slow close, and this is all because of our bloom hinges and mechanisms that power all of the doors
in our home. Now we're here in Bali, and because of that, things get a little hot sometimes. So
finding AC solutions was really important. So we actually designed these slits, and behind there
is a silent but effective AC unit that powers this entire space. We've got these beautiful switch
plates from Jung, and I mean, these are the LS0s, which are these minimal slim profile lights that
are the exact color of our walls. And we've also used their international outlets all across the
home. Now in the backsplash, I wanted to find a way to create more power outlets without giving
up this beautiful decked-in design, so we actually used 22 system, which makes the most minimal power
sockets I've ever seen, which allowed us to integrate plugs into the back without actually
cutting too much away from the stone. Here I've gotten all sorts of memorabilia from Kenya to
South Africa, and just on the very end of this island is the microwave and oven. And off the main
kitchen, down this corridor, is none other than another carved door and a staff kitchen. This area
is what allows this home to be a space for hosting events, for cooking for weddings, retreats,
masterminds. Everything's all done up here with stainless steel appliances, a massive range.
And this is where Las Villas' full-time chef prepares any meal that you're after. Breakfast,
lunch, dinner, whatever you want, he'll make it. It's a literal five-star restaurant at home.
Just off the side of the staff kitchen is the entire staff area, and this is everything from
laundry, office, and it's also where we keep our server. This home is set up with Bali's fastest
internet. I use Global Extreme's fiber connection to get gigabit per second internet upload and
download. And critically important is a backup generator. The power grid in Bali doesn't come
down very often, but if it does, Las Villa is self-sufficient. This is the behind the scenes
that makes the experience of staying in Las Villa truly magical. Las Villa is the privacy of a
personal home with the service of a boutique hotel, and I'm so proud of this amazing team.
I'm going to show you this magical backyard and what is just outside of the living room
after we tour our way through some of the rooms. Let's start with the guest bathroom, because I
think it's one of the most creative takes I've seen. Because the first thing you'll see is a
solid block of marble, and mounted on top is a custom-made sink from another solid block of
stone. To match its beauty, I found this Vortex faucet from Axor, an incredible brand from Germany.
And to make this space truly special, a smart toilet from Derivit. Once you've tried a bidet,
you never want to go back. And like the rest of the home, it needed to feel connected to nature,
so we gave it an indoor jungle. Everywhere you walk in this home is open space, and these long
hallways are a big statement. From the living room to the flooring here, it's all been done
with ullen. And ullen is an incredibly hard wood, it's quite literally known as the ironwood. And
what's amazing is, none of this wood meant cutting any single trees, because these came
from decommissioned bridges, old docks, old railroads. This is all reclaimed wood. I used
a brand called Caltimber to make sure that I was able to not only get some of the finest woods,
but also to make sure I was minimizing the impact of this home on Bali. Now inside of here, this is
where Ruby and I call an end to our days. It's our sanctuary basically, the master room. I'll save that
for last. But just over here, back to the design principle of Las Velas. You need it to feel like
you were immersed in a jungle, surrounded by green and by blue. You get the sound of the water,
you get the fresh breeze that comes down here into the hallway. Coming with me further into here,
is the luveles that make this home and this hallway so special. You can see the way the
light dances and comes through here. During different times of the day, you'll get a light
show on the wall from all of the slits and the light passing through. And each and every single
one of these luveles are hand carved. From the individually carved panel, to the individually
sized stones on the wall. Details, details, and details. Now I'm going to be showing you every
room in this home because every room was designed one of one. No room is identical and every room
is worth a sleep in. Before we go into the room, it is one of the most defining pieces of Las Velas.
It is the experience that greets you every time you enter and exit a room. Carved by Pak Mare,
my neighbor. It was then burnt with a blowtorch to give it that beautiful dark finishing. And
then we threw some butterfly hinges on it so that you've got these concealed hinges.
It is a statement for the whole home. Welcome to the first room, the jungle room. And this was the
first room in the home to complete. It was home to Ruby and I for over six months. This room has
a special place in our heart. As you can see here, you have this 180 degree of green serenity.
You've got the orchids that are in full bloom right now. You've got an entire tree growing out
of the roof of the building. Just down below is a little cheeky romantic side of the home that
I'll give you a tour of in a moment. It exists exclusively for this room. This bed is probably
my favorite in terms of design. It's got this amazing marble siding table along with dreamette
metal on the side. It's got this hand-carved front side with switches, international ports,
and USB-C sockets. Every single piece of this was designed one-of-one complete custom or Las
Villa. Above me here, you'll see pendant lights are a defining feature of the home. We've got
them in every single one of the rooms because I think that lighting is one of the things that
creates a sense of coziness, warmth. Over there, we have these custom designed lights set up on the
sides of the bed as well as behind it. Over here, we've got this really interesting sort of chrome
like floating table with a Sonos sound system. Like all the rooms, the AC has been really cleverly
concealed away. These cabinets and these closets are a statement piece. They're an accent to the
room, not just utility. But very conveniently, you have a ton of storage space inside each and every
one of these rooms. Even our closet doors, we use bloom hinges. This isn't just metal. This is
actually a specialty metal that you find in the Cavalli, the Hermes stores. This is a brand by
the name of Dreamette and they design metal. You can see really closely that there's actually this
gorgeous patina. It's like a swirling kind of subtle cloudy effect and it brings such a premium
touch. You're in the comfort of a room with the luxury touches of a showroom. It is so special.
The way I perfected this home was by actually living in every single one of the spaces and this
was home for many months and I had many months where Ruby was taking longer to get ready for
bed than I. So, we added this. A way to divide the room. Now, almost every single one of the rooms has
their own separated toilet. I know from traveling, as couples, with friends, whoever you're with, you're
gonna appreciate having the ability to seal off this side of life. Over here, this has to be one
of my favorite pieces. I have to find better words because I keep saying favorites but I love this
home. It is literally an extension of me and one of the pieces that I have fallen so deeply in love
with is this stone basin. MM Gallery took a solid piece of stone, they carved into it and the most
amazing thing is it doesn't even sacrifice utility. Sometimes design means it looks pretty but it's
actually annoying to use. This sink is going to be going in all my future projects. It's one of my
favorite sinks in the home. Now, just behind it, we have an Axor standing faucet which is a brand
from Germany and if you come in here just past this carved panel, I'll show you where we have
this Axor rainfall shower. It's one of the most incredible experiences. You have four different
settings, a control module on the wall and when you turn them all on at once, you literally feel
like you're in a typhoon. This shower allows you to connect with the jungle. Under Las Villas, I
installed Bali's best water filtration system which kills bacteria using UV and reverse osmosis
which means you can actually drink the water straight from the tap. I don't personally do it
but it's definitely a great way to say goodbye to Bali belly and it also softens Bali's notoriously
heavy water which makes it much better for your hair. This home brings in and sources the best
from all over the world and even this stone here comes from Syria. So as you walk out across the
flooring onto the carpet, every bed has its own carpet to bring that warmth. You're brought down
to a little hidden side and a lesser known side of Las Villas. Check this out. So this here is a
solid boulder carved out, turned into a bathtub accompanied by another Axor standing faucet
and this one here, it's actually incredible because it's designed to look like it's growing
in nature and just off the side of the tub is this, your own little oasis, this hidden pond
and the beginning of the seven waterfalls. All of the rooms are fitted with blackout curtains
and all the curtains are on an electric track so you only got to do, you give it a little pull and
it does the rest of the work and my favorite has to be these sheer curtains and they're such a
playful way to cut down the light, have a bit more of a silhouette of the jungle. Just down the hall
and on the right here, this is the zen room and what makes it so zen is that you have a living
and breathing garden right behind your bed as you sleep. This amazing headboard was custom designed
to allow for some plants to grow behind it. Like all the rooms in the home, you're completely opened
up to the jungle, to the greenery and to the quiet of this property. We've got this amazing fitted
mirror which was hand carved. This is a great place where you can see the pattern and design
of the wall. Every room has a California King 200 by 200 mattress, meaning doesn't matter what room
you're in, the sleep experience is 11 out of 10. These mattresses are the ones I've been using for
five years and they are the best mattress on the market. On the left and right hand side of every
bed is an international outlet. It's the ability to plug in USB-C directly. Each room is designed
not just for short-term but also for even long-term stays so you've got full storage. You
be able to fully unpack and feel like you are home. To separate the bathroom, there's this really
clever pocket door and it slides right inside the wall. If you come over on this side, you'll see
we've got pendant lighting, we've got more storage solutions inside of here, all done up in an
incredibly design intensive way. Getting this all made was quite the nightmare. If I had to point
out one feature in this room, I would probably pick this standing basin. It's a solid boulder,
carved away and you have this effect. His and hers. These incredibly creative mirrors with LED
backlit recessed lighting and even the toilet here has its own unique back area with integrated flush
plates so we actually made the flush feature feel like it was part of the wall. I have to show you
the tile because every room has special tile but this one tells a story. A story that goes back
thousands of years because inside of this tile are fossils. You see seashells, you see little
bones, you see all sorts of things that once were. Las Villas had a lot of time and attention spent
on lighting design and so here we've used wall washer light which you'll see especially at night
brings this beautiful soft glow to the stones and when you're walking down these hallways they
maintain this clean aesthetic and you never cast a beam in somebody's eye. It's so intentional. We
actually use the same lighting designer that has done the Four Seasons. When you see this property
at night I'll show you in a moment you'll see why it's worth investing in your lights. This is a room
that I call the nest. So the nest is the smallest room in Las Villa. The best sleep happens right
here. Like every room we've got a carpet under the foot of the bed, we've got soft touches and we've
got endless privacy. In this case you've got again 180, you've got the green wall on your right and
you've got the green wall on your front and on the side of the bed here we've got these amazing
hanging pendant lights all casting this kind of dreamy aesthetic and light glow. You've got lights
on the wall on every single side. It's cozy, it's comfy, it's exactly where you want to be. Now why
is it called the nest? Well it's this right here. These are the details that few would ever take on
but we added a solid stone wall and then almost covered all of it by putting this massive rattan
headboard right in front of it and the outcome is spectacular. You have the defining hard stone
pieces of Las Villa and you've also got the elegant softness of this rattan bringing to you a feeling
of being in your own little cocoon, your own nest. It's definitely one of the coziest spaces. Just
about every room is fitted with their own speakers because I know that when guests want to break away
have their own space and their own safe haven it's so nice to be able to unwind and listen to music.
On the wall here we have lights that really help bring that soft glow to the room but even more
importantly these reflections allow us to bring the jungle inside to the room. Every room has its
own balcony and its own seating and here we've added this mirror so that you bring the jungle
again into the areas where you don't have it. Inside of here is a very creative bathroom. I mean
I've traveled 100 countries, I've stayed at hundreds of hotels now and I've never seen a home or a
space that has done what Las Villa has. We took a travertine romano and basically put it on the
sink, we put it all over the shower, we even cut away some little slits to add some dreamette metal
in between it and we even engrave Las Villa into this dreamette footing at the bottom of the shower.
As always the doors open up onto the jungle, you've got some louvers there to add extra feeling of
privacy and the last room within the room is the privacy of this toilet and I really love this
extra step of just separation. It's a very nice luxury touch. Wrapping through this entire courtyard
and this hallway is triangular. It rotates around this central space and I actually want to show you
one of those special touches. You can hear no sound design, no sound effects, we don't do that here.
You hear owls, you hear birds, you hear all these sounds, the cuckooing, the cackling
and even the cicadas during the day when the sun comes out especially, they go crazy.
Why this area was so important to me was that it allowed the living area to be sandwiched between
a backyard jungle and a central courtyard. It allowed each of the bedrooms to have more separation
and distance from one another and the end outcome is that every room feels like its own dedicated
premium hotel room. There's complete separation of life so when you stay here with your friends,
your family, whoever, you're able to have the central and communal areas that bring everyone
together but then when it's time to say goodbye and call it a night, you can also break away to
your own private area. Do you see that? It is peace. From here it's 10 minutes to Canggu,
restaurants, coffee shops. You have three of the best gyms in the world and all of them are like
10 minutes away. It is seven minutes away from Pererno and it's about eight minutes away from
Sese. This area is called Tumbak Bayu and it is the area where expats are buying, where high-end
homes are coming up and in my opinion, it's the best area in all of Bali because it's connected
to the hubs, it's connected to life and it's connected to nature and one of those pieces of
nature right here are the trees and you won't believe me when I tell you that one of these
trees in this courtyard wasn't here when I first moved in. This one was actually planted just a
year and a half ago and it has already grown about four meters tall since planting. It has shot up
with life. It grows into the crown jewel that I will have to show you after as we end our tour
of Las Villa. Designing the landscape was just as important as the home itself and I'm so grateful
to have used Anton with Bali Landscape Company. They brought this jungle to life and it's the
reason that in five years from now this home is going to be even more beautiful than it is today.
You've seen the courtyard, you've seen most of the bedrooms but you've not seen what makes this home
in the jungle. Come down a couple stone steps and into paradise.
We've got this amazing long stretch of ulan balcony all undercover for the rainy season.
This is where we typically have friends, board games. This is a real piece of Balinese artistry.
I found it on the side of the road. A gentleman had carved it. I got it stained and it definitely
has found its home here. Underneath me we have these hand-woven rattan carpets that really
soften up this wooden space. We've got this large daybed which is actually all done up on the bottom
here with a platinum travertine. These are one of Stefan's many custom-designed furniture pieces
in the Las Villa. Now from my experience the furniture that people love the most is often
the most casual and these beanbag chairs they're a special part of the home. This is probably my
favorite furniture piece and Stefan designed this incredible metal siding that creates this prismic
shape on the side of the Las Villa. Not only is it beautiful but it actually provides a lot of
utility. It pushes out the water further off of the deck and into the garden. But over here we
took the metal structures, the big supports and the beams, we filled them up with wooden carvings.
Now another piece of inspiration that I found at Salone del Mobile in Milan and had to bring
home with me. This is an Italian company by the name of Jesse and this standing shower is a work
of art. It's got this magnetic hand shower, it's got this incredible design and it even glows in
the evening. You can turn on the LEDs here in the shower head, change colors and just behind it are
these glass bricks that have to be the most beautiful way to create a boundary wall. This all
continues down the Ullin walkway. Through the humidity and the rain this thing is built to last.
It is what they built ships out of and it even is termite resistant. So Bali throws a lot of
harsh things at you. This is the material for it. I took a barbecue, yet again my neighbor
carved away. We've got this pergola set up over top of the biggest outdoor cuddle puddle you could
ask for, seated right by the pool. It's just, what more can I say? It's the sound of nature,
the movement of the trees and as somebody that can't stand a ton of sun,
I love that this home gives you exactly the amount of sun that you want without being overbearing
and constantly getting cooked. I love my pool. With an infinity edge that floats out, you feel
like you're floating above the world and looking down on the spa just over there. But also a special
piece is actually the glass siding which allows for that incredible play of light and color to
pop all across the yard and you'll see it particularly when we go down the stairs.
As a Canadian that couldn't handle the cold, I had to get a hot tub and this hot tub along
with the pool, they all have LED control to be able to change colors and in the evening
they bring a lot of playful color to the yard. And just at the very edge of this floating pool,
you can see the height we have above the property. That is the natural slope in this jungle plot
and that slope brings you down to the spa. But to get there, we got a fun journey. Come with me.
This brings us to a little game of temple run. Coming down this staircase, it's this kind of
zigzagging stair that brings you through this beautiful garden wall. This home took a while
to build but the one benefit of all of the delays is that it's allowed this jungle to really fill in
and now you're starting to hear the sounds of the seven waterfalls.
Behind the scenes, there's been a massive, massive upgrade to Las Villa and today,
Ruby and I are finally ready to show you. This here used to be a wall. Today, we knocked down
that wall, we built a bridge and welcome to the Las Villa garden. This here is a place of complete
expansiveness and sunshine. Nothing but beautiful sunshine. This massive 300 square meter area
is our entertainment area. It's our place to host dinners and tonight, we're actually having
a Christmas dinner with all of our friends to celebrate the end of this build. Our dream with
this home is that you are going to be able to host your friends, your family, your banquets and most
of all, I cannot wait for the day that somebody has their wedding here. This is literally the
perfect home to bring together 30, 50 and even 150 people to celebrate your special occasion.
I've held masterminds here. Tonight, we're having one crazy Christmas banquet, a table full with 36
people all in a row and we even just an hour ago completed this. It has a few little final touches
needed but this is going to be the stage for tonight for the band but what this is going to
be used on the day today is actually an entire dedicated outdoor gym. At the end of the day, Las
Villa is the opportunity to have everything you love in one place. This is one of the things I love.
It's available for rent and this is where you can host your friends, your family, your wedding or
your breathwork retreat. Whatever it means to you to socialize, to connect and to disconnect. Las Villa
and our amazing team will make sure you don't just experience Bali, you find yourself at home.
And we can't wait for you guys to enjoy it yourselves. Now, just on my right here, you'll see
the siding of the pool, that glass allowing the light to play and to come through and we've also
had this ivy that over the last year has almost fully engulfed the stones and it brings it back
to the design that Las Villa had to become part of this land. As you get to the bottom of the staircase,
you're brought to this landing and this wooden deck has been built at a very interesting point
of the home. On one hand, surrounded by the sounds of seven different waterfalls but on your left,
you've also got the spa which is this beautiful bamboo space, an escape from the sun and why I
love this area is you get sunshine, you get the sounds and you get this incredible view of Las Villa.
I think this is probably the postcard photo from right here. Looking up at this biophilic home
that has been literally built into the jungle. Carrying on with the tour across another floating
footpath and it brings you to the koi pond and this is home to about four turtles, 12 koi fish
and one of my favorite pastimes is to come down here once a day, bring some of the fish food down
and I've been training them to eat from my hand which has been a really special trust-building
exercise. This is everything my younger self could have ever dreamed of. Not only am I proud that we
built something that doesn't exist anywhere else in the world, I'm proud that we didn't compromise
on any corner, any detail. So much love, so many tough sacrifices and decisions were made to bring
this home together and now it's the most special and intentional space I've ever set foot into.
So continuing on down these stone footpaths, it brings you into the spa and the spa, it basically
brings together two of my favorite styles. Las Villa is luxury, it's refined but then you come
to this bamboo area and it's playful, it's organic, it's nothing but curves and softness and this is
one of the things that makes Las Villa so special but this spa is more than just this beautiful
bamboo, it's also a cold plunge. It's often sitting around four degrees celsius, it's cold, you don't
want to be in there long but it is exactly what you need to shock your system. After a nice workout
you can call in a masseuse here at Las Villa, we've got masseuses on dial, you've got two massage beds
that are perfectly laid out so that you can have the sounds of the running water. The best place to
end the day in Las Villa is right here, this is the sauna and it's all been done with pine wood, an
Estonian sauna by the name of Hum. So Hum makes some of the best saunas in the world, you can turn it
on using this module on the outside, we've actually gotten it up to 100 degrees fahrenheit, you can
actually turn it on from your phone using the app. You still have the smell of fresh pine, it smells
so good in here. The size can comfortably fit five and creatively fit eight, we've had about nine or
ten people in here. It's like the perfect reset and way to end the day.
Now just outside of the spa is one of the most private rooms in the home, what I call Koi Garden,
but before I show you that, there's actually another footpath. You see this
right here? This isn't just a mystery door, this is my next project.
Over the last four years of building this home, I've come face to face with some of my biggest
headaches, heartbreaks, and honestly I think this might have been the hardest thing I've ever done,
but in spite of all that, it was also the most rewarding. Building homes and building worlds,
as it turns out, is one of my greatest passions. Something I want to commit myself to for the
coming years. And this plot here, this is where the next chapter begins, as I build my first
boutique hotel. The lost homes will have the same privacy and intimacy of a personal home,
but has the five-star service of a Ritz.
But most importantly, just like Las Villas, this needs to be an escape. A place where you can
experience the real Bali. I believe the next few years of my life are going to be pursuing this,
lost homes. Someday, I dream they will be all around the world, but for today, I want to focus
on building them in my favorite place, here in Bali. If you get just as excited by the idea of
hospitality, world building, I need help. Where I want to take this is not somewhere I can do it
alone. I'm looking for the right people to join me, to make this vision a reality. And if this
is something that you have experience in, something that lights you up as much as it does me, then I
think we should get in contact. To truly understand this home, you have to see it when the sun has
set. The amount of love and attention that has gone into every detail of this home is extended
into the lighting. We worked closely with Alditra Lighting and completely brought Las Villa to light
in the night. From custom design standing lights, LED contours, and the pool and hot tub with full
color control, this is a home that looks just as beautiful at night as when the sun is shining
on the jungle floor. When the lost homes are finished, that doorway is going to create an
opportunity to open up to the next properties, to create more overflow accommodation. But inside of
here is Koi Garden, named because you've got the koi in front of you, and you've also got nothing
but garden view. Right here, this is a very suitable room for an office. Back here, we've got the
concealed AC units, storage space, a ton more cabinetry and storage space here, and brings you to
a massive stone. It is solid, and again, another piece of MM Gallery genius. But inside of here,
we've got a complete travertine shower, which is the same stone you see on the wall. A clever part
of the design here was to find a way to conceal the toilet. Every toilet needed privacy, and so
what we did was we took the solid wood, carved it away, and added a panel on the side of this wall
so that it all flowed together. Now the idea with these wood panels was to be able to create
separation from the bed area, from the shower, from the bathroom, yet still having all of this beautiful
light be able to come through the entire room. And you can see why you don't want to cut that view out.
And follow this path to another hidden space. Down below, under the pool, is the cinema.
Completely soundproofed, completely removed from the world, and you've got this massive, giant
cuddle puddle. It is where my friends and I have been watching movies, playing video games. Forget
the couch when you can just bring all your closest friends together in this one cozied up space.
And we use these little sofa bricks to basically create dividers, separations. If you want, you can
use it up higher to get even more of a backrest. And right behind me here, you're seeing two of
the first speakers. In front of me are three more speakers. And underneath the platform you're
standing on, hidden away, are two subwoofers. When you're pod racing with Anakin in Star Wars, you feel
the crash. When you're watching Saving Private Ryan and there's a grenade thrown, you can feel
the explosion. And you can even feel where it's at, if it was on the left side or the right side.
To make this cinema truly premium, I invested in this 4k four movie projector. It's actually a
throw projector, so it projects upward and it illuminates this entire 120 inch elite screen,
ProAV screen. I mean this thing is a monster. The whole wall becomes a screen and experience.
But as you're probably noticing, like every space in the home, design was at the forefront. Here
we've got another carved stone wall. We've got about 12 or 15 pendant lights suspended there.
Here we've got these beautiful cabinets that act as like a bar area with travertine feet
and an incredible jungle illusion. And here Stefan went crazy working with cork material,
different metals, LEDs and woven rattans for the backboard of the cinema screen.
One of the most low-key but beautiful parts of the home is the cinema bathroom. This bathroom
is all done up with this beautiful travertine. It's like a dark black effect, really bringing
the darker tones to the cinema. Here we have another stone sink all carved away by mm.
And more yung switches throughout this entire home. Just off of the koi garden and the cinema
is the side hallway for when it's raining. You get more direct access back up to the home.
Now this home has taken me years to bring to life. And what I've done is I've taken all the
best suppliers, people that I actually had a positive experience with, and I've put them
all together in a free pdf. You can use that link down below and I promise you if you're going to go
build something, this is going to be something that will save you weeks, months. It'll save you a
few gray hairs. Back to the front, out the carport. All right, up the stairs we go, but not that fast
otherwise I won't be able to tell you about all the energy that went into the staircase. This was
hand woven, the bottom was hand carved, the aluminum was hand shaped, and Stefan went off
in designing it. Up we go. This is level two. Not the final stage, a pre-welcome to the treehouse.
And this has become my rooftop garden, where you can see currently is being engulfed with greenery.
Right now it's mostly green, but what's actually vining and growing everywhere are bougainvilleas,
which are these beautiful floral plants that turn to white flowers, pink flowers, purples.
The mission is accomplished. Las Villas is being erased and returned to the land. Now over here
you've got this view over the courtyard, which is just such a lovely perspective of the home.
Another staircase designed with love through the canopy of a tree that was supposed to be cut.
So you see this tree that we're just about to go into. There's a bit of a story here. This tree had
an X on it on the drawing, and the reason was there was no way to accommodate it into the current
design of the home. But with enough care, anything can be changed. And what we did was we shifted the
home by five meters, and the original architects put a giant skylight that is today the opening
of the home that allows this tree to coexist with Las Villa. If there's one thing that anyone takes
from this video after you go out and build your dream home, I pray and I ask that you keep the
trees, you keep the green, do it for the love of the property, do it for the love of the land, do it for
the profit. I swear you're making a better product by keeping the greenery, but keeping this tree,
the spirit of the home, intact with Las Villa, that has been one of the most unique game-changing
pieces of the whole property. That's my pep talk. Let's come up to the treehouse, the space that
almost never was. Definitely makes up for the fact that I never had a treehouse as a kid. This platform
is massive. It's a perfect place for gathering with friends. When you're up here, there's way
more wind, way more breeze, and in a sunny day you feel cooled down. Here I've got a daybed to just
stare up at the tree and watch it dancing in the wind. A little digital nomad oasis here up in the
treetops. Got power, a table, more of these custom bar stools. This has been the conversation pit
where people just spend hours and hours. The reason I went to build Las Villa was to have a
home to raise kids, to have a home to host mom and dad, but it was also to be more social, to enjoy a
chapter of connection, and I'm so proud when I see this space and how it has done exactly that,
allowing me to slow down in ways that I think I needed more of in my life. Las Villa is the home
of a thousand details, but there's one room that has more detail than any other. The final room.
I've intentionally left the master bedroom for last because it was the most challenging
room to complete, and it's one of the most daring in terms of design, and to see it come to life,
I mean, come and see it. It all starts with this massive and solid stone step that brings you down
into the master bedroom. I love a coat. First of all, you've got this entire backboard behind the
couch area, an area of relaxation, an area to read a book, and suspended over top of it you've got
about seven of these here bocce pendant lights, each of them mouth-blown, handmade, and brought
over from Canada. The headboard on this bed, I've never seen it before, but Stefan dreamed it and we
found a way to make it. These are all dried up plants positioned right behind the bed, but the
actual bed itself is a place of comfort, and it feels even bigger than a California king. Here
we've designed this extraordinary but minimalistic side table with a beautifully carved piece of
marble tied in with a dreamette metal, and of course international socket right where Koda has
so lovingly cozied up. This is another one of our beautiful custom-designed carpets just designed
for this space, and if you come over here with me, you'll see something that I definitely want to
become a design principle for my future homes. This here is a solid slab of marble. This thing
weighs 250 kilograms. It's such a beautiful statement piece, and it all ties into right
behind it, the stone wall. Just like in the living room, the master room has its own carved wall.
It looks like a cliffside, but whenever we use hard materials, we like to soften it up. The green
plants, a bit of rope mesh, and the hanging pendant lights and dried plants on the ground here, these
are all ways to take this otherwise harsh and very masculine-feeling stone wall and soften it up
into something that is the coziest bedroom I've ever slept in. Every morning, we take out the
blackout curtains open.
This may look like a seat, but it also doubles as a form of a railing, and just down below here is
the beginning of the seven waterfalls, and the lawn is just behind that jungle wall. It is the sound
of running water, the rustling of the trees, and this is also like the living room and the dining
area. It's sunset facing, so every night it turns into this beautiful red glow like we have tonight.
My favorite nights are actually the ones where it rains. When it starts to pour here at Las Villa,
it's like a second life, a totally new way to see this property, and one of the coziest ways
to experience it. Now, there's one spot to this home that I've only ever seen here, and I have
to give credit to the architects, Caceres and Tus. They showed me an idea, a concept, and the moment I
saw it, I said, yes, it's happening. From bed to bathtub, this sort of open concept going from the
bathroom to the master, it's kind of cheeky, it's definitely fun, and whenever you want the additional
privacy, you've got blackout blinds that allow you to close it off. These three steps are solid stone.
Throughout Las Villa, you've seen the way this home embraces imperfection, embraces texture, and
these stones are a piece of it, and we've even taken the Las Villa logo and placed it here. There's
about 20 or 30 of these across the home hidden away, added onto furniture pieces, and into doorways.
This is, for me, a work area, but it is a massive three and a half meter stone travertine countertop
with this amazing LED underglow, and to support it all, we have this tree trunk with resin all around
it to encase it, and now it acts as one of the legs for this beautiful table, and I got to give
kudos to Stefan, because this was a pretty brilliant idea. We took a stick, cut into it, inserted an LED,
and now we've got an organic pendant light suspended across the table, and while it's not a
walk-in closet, we have a ton of storage space for clothing, camera accessories, anything that we have
on the go, but I want to show you something that actually makes space of this area. One really cool
innovation that we found for this space are these unique bloom hinges, and they allow for this closet
door to have a huge opening angle. These doors allow us to fully open up without ever blocking
the traffic. And the grand finale, the most detailed part of the most detailed room, this
is the marble bathroom, and the winner of best bathroom in Indonesia, and hopefully soon beyond.
From render to reality, let me show you this spot. So the details begin before we even get in. This
walkway is done up with dreamette metal, LEDs, carvings, antiques, all on display. Then from there,
we have hidden cabinetry entering in to the master bathroom. Everywhere you look, from the wall, to the
floor, to the basin, to the bathtub, this is all Staziotorio marble from Italy, and to say that
an MM gallery can take a render and a dream and turn it to real life is an understatement. Somehow, they were
able to take this beautiful white Italian marble and shape it, and make it nice and smooth and
polished for the ground. They were able to take it and turn it into this rugged mountainous texture
for the side. I don't even know how they did it. They bent the marble around an actual bathtub, and
they brought all these elements seamlessly together, and what looks like it belongs on Pinterest is now
here in my master bathroom. It's one of the most beautiful designs, but surprisingly, it's one of
the most beautiful results I've ever seen. I didn't expect it to go so well. To match it all, we had to
have the best of the best, so we brought Axor sanitaries across the bathroom. Here, we have
five different settings from four rainfall features on this 1.2 meter shower up above,
and this incredibly elegant bronze plating on the wall. The way it seamlessly fits in with the marble,
and the Dreamette undercut, all designed by Single Art. It is just a dream come true.
Right here, we've got more of the Axor sanitaries, the organic collection, giving it that nice sort
of tree branch shape. Right up above is a custom pendant light by Pima Rouge, and now I want to
turn you around to show you the other 180, because it's just as extraordinary. You see, right behind
here is one of the unique engineering marbles of Las Villa. We brought a jungle inside of the
bathroom. This sort of silhouette jungle is one of the most stunning pieces, and every time someone
walks in here, they just have their jaws dropped. People have never seen this before. Stéphane
challenged me to find a way to get this built, and well, we managed. The jungle silhouette was
an engineering marble. It took two different layers of plexiglass, sandblast stickers,
a ton of fake plants, LED panels separated by enough diffusion so that you didn't see the
LED lines. The bathroom has a his and a her sink. It has this incredible floating mirror.
To really elevate the space, we used the same bronze finish of Axor hand washes as we've used
on the shower, and as we've used on the bathtub faucets, and here we've used this really clever
design to hang towels. We've got our shampoo and body washes all ready for guests, and over here,
a pocket door for the royal throne. Yet again, we have a Durabit smart toilet here with full bidet
and a controller here on the wall. This was also a very unique design that Stéphane came up with
to basically hide all of the toilet paper and anything else that you'd need in the room.
In life, there's always a way. It just depends how bad you want something, and I wanted this
render to become reality more than anything. If you had told me on day one that building my dream
home would take me close to four years, I would have laughed. I would have told you there's not a
chance, but on the other hand, this home is so much greater than anything I could have ever imagined.
Built out of wood, stone, fabric, but most of all, built with love and maybe a dash of irrational
obsession. And to be recognized as Indonesia's best interior was truly a remarkable and emotional
moment for Stéphane and I. He said we won all categories. What? And she said it's never been done.
Air high five, Stéphane. What the heck? I can't thank the single art team enough for the love put
on this project. It wouldn't be the same without them, and I have to give credit to the architects
This home was built by many talented people to bring one dream to life,
and Las Villas is the result. If Las Villas has taught me one thing, it's that the more you fight
for something, the more you love it. And the more energy you put into something, the more you'll be
proud of it. And I could not be more proud to be here today, finally getting the opportunity to
show you this home, our dream home in the jungle. I would love to host you, to have you here inside
of our home. As Ruby and I see it, this is a beautiful space we want to share with the world.
We want to bring you into the space to experience not just a villa, but a piece of art. An opportunity
to get the best of Bali in one place. I'm about to drop a video that shares the four years of
building this home, from one year of design to the three years of building it. And if it's out,
it'll also be linked down below. An awesome next watch. This is just the start of my building
journey, and if you want to join me on it, take a look at those links down below. If you want access
to all the suppliers, the people involved in bringing this home to life, that free
guide is also linked below. And as always, let's get lost again in the next build.
