Brazil 🇧🇷 vs. Japan 🇯🇵 - Quarter Final | Highlights | Women's VNL 2026

Brazil in blue receiving quarter-final action from the Women's Volleyball Nations League finals here in Macau, China. And it is a very tidy side-axe start for Brazil. Looking for the corner finder, just mixing up their libros. Fukudomi's in when the team are defending. Good serve, bringing Alberto off the net. Well up by Fukudomi. Good cover. That's such a great pick-up. But the block is excellent for Brazil once again. Bergman. Nowhere through. No way through. What a shutdown. Off the net. There's too much time for Ana Cristina to choose her spot. Bergman. Off the net, has to go wide. Good touch from Roberto. This one's swingable. Oh yes. What a hit. What a swing from Ana Cristina. Good pass from Ana Cristina. We know it's a good pass because Gianna gets a free swing pretty much. Seki to serve. It's been a good serving run for her every time she's been back. Oh, it's magnificent. It's a block. And Japan take the opening set. 26-24. 24 or anything. And it is Japan's point. What a block from Yamada actually. Set two underway. Brazil serving. It is Japan leading by one set to nothing in this quarterfinal match here in Macau, China at the Volleyball Nations League Finals. And it's been doing so far. Easy on the pipe. Action. Yoshino Sato. Ana Cristina. Oh, big jump serve but well passed by Kojima. Well blocked by Lucia and Roberto. And then need to find a different solution with her. Oh, that's huge. Lucia. Good serve. Great block. This time Brazil tripling up on the outside. Seki. Reception by Bergman. Chance now for continuation. Rosa Maria makes the first contact. This one continues. Seki out of the play. Ishikawa cannot find the solution. Brazil's block. Running really nicely with Bergman. The game's two top scorers. Can only tip now. There's a chance for a 22-20. Ana Cristina. Makes it happen. Sato to serve. Kissi. No, she can't find the floor. Ishikawa. Has she found the floor? No. Has she found a touch? There'll be a challenge to find out. Away we go with set number three. It is one set all here in Macau, China for the VNL finals. Chance for Brazil to have the opening point. And they'll take it. Rosa Maria getting the job done. Condition four's working. Bergman. Good serve. That's a great touch in the block. First break point opportunity. Now the second one. That didn't hit the floor. Let's not be surprised at that. Tipping against Japan. Gotta do that. That way you can hit the floor. Well played, Ana Cristina. Sakai. Serving Shimomura. There's no stopping that one. Without Julia in the lineup, there hasn't been so much interplay between the slide and the back row attack which normally features with her. Ishikawa. Brazil are flying. Once again. Forced in by Bergman. Ana Cristina forces the issue through four. A bit of backspin on the serve. Free ball Brazil. Good up, Kojima. But it won't stay in play. Guada. Played Bergman. Not much that Rosa Maria could do with the ball. Yes, there you go. Lucia sorts that one out. Kissi serving. Good serve. Oh, what an up. But it doesn't stay in play long enough. And it is Brazil who have walked away with set three. 25-16. They now lead by two sets to one. Superb work by Brazil. Just didn't allow Japan to get going. Set number four underway. Brazil leading by two sets to one. Bergman with the serve. And Japan respond and take us to five. They've given Brazil a free ball. This is an opportunity for a perfect breakpoint start. Oh, Kojima. Unlucky. Bending but not breaking but not keeping the ball in play. Oh, that's an up. But not the second time. Was Bergman guilty of admiring the touch? Two-point advantage Brazil. Somehow squeaks over. What a... Just magnificent. The speed of her arm. Sato for Japan. A breakpoint but get them back level. And they might have a swing for it. They do. Ishikawa. Can't have an absolute go at it. Look at Anacristina but makes it tricky. Down ball. Better chance maybe now for Anacristina. But the block is magnificent from Japan. Anacristina. Kojima put under pressure. And the pressure relieved by Wada. Wada once again. Good ball, Marseille. Great up but it's a bit on the tight side. Oh, no. Lucia not sure what to do with it. Giving it back to Japan. We're still going. Ishikawa's done it. Brazil are going to challenge. Oh, no, no. And how about... No. Wada. Two aces in this run. Won't be getting a third just yet. Good cover. Has to go to Bergman again. And she is shot down by Japan. Decent ball in. Bergman can have the swing. Now there's an even better chance here. Anacristina sorts it all out. 3-20. Above 50% scoring an attack. 44 attacks, that is all. So 45 attacks. Here comes Bergman. It's an ace set. It's all over. Brazil have done it. They have beaten Japan by three sets to one. Brazil are through to the semi-finals.
