Some surprising Dallas Cowboys moves are incoming as a new report reveals a wild update
Into the Dallas Cowboys training camp process with 53-man roster cutdowns on the horizon
Lots of guys are fighting for a roster spot
And today we take a look at the latest ESPN article that gives their projection for the entire 53-man roster
So today we're gonna go through each one of those depth charts each one of those positions and see some surprised guys who don't make
It and some surprising guys who end up making the roster now
This all comes from an ESPN article talking about the training camp preview for the Dallas Cowboys
And it had a 53-man roster projection before training camp begins inside that Todd Archer
Very much an insider for the Dallas Cowboys is a lot about what's going on
So I take his opinion very highly and well
He gave us an insight into what he expects to happen throughout training camp and of course into the 53-man roster cutdowns

Let's get into the show and start by the first one would just have a surprise guy and it's QB 53-man roster projection for Todd
Archer has Dak Prescott and Sam how
Making the roster and the Cowboys not keeping a third bat third quarterback at least on the active roster as he says they are going
To cut Joe Milton now
The expectation is Joe Milton would not go on the practice squad somebody would pick him up
But you would have to find somebody to fill a role in the practice squad realm for the Dallas Cowboys at the quarterback position
Now I have been screaming this from the rooftops the past
I don't know three months at this point since they signed Sam how that he is QB number two
He fits the system better more. He reminds me a lot more of Dak Prescott
He plays to the same manner and ultimately he is going to be your better option
Should the worst happen and Prescott get injured now, hopefully it doesn't happen
Hopefully it doesn't matter but I trust Sam how more than I trust Joe Milton in the small time
We've seen him. He has a rocket arm
He's an athletic freak
But it doesn't do much for an offense that has two
Outstanding wide receivers and a running back that deserves to get his runs as well
So in my mind
It's the smartest thing to do and Todd Archer says this about cutting mixing saying or excuse me cutting at Milton saying considering going
Which I'm on the third and making it three but opted against it
The Cowboys guaranteed how two million dollars in free and see and don't make it a habit of letting that financial commitment walk
Milton is still young enough to see how the devil how he develops and could be a practice one guy
How has more experience and more command and I think that right there?
It really does tell you what we can expect and how this Cowboys team is going to function
Before we get into the rest of today's show

Is the Otis edge?
QB obviously is one that I think is going to be talked about just cuz if it's not gonna be cutting Joe Milton
It's gonna be who is going to be QB to I think it's gonna be gonna be Sam
How let me know you think down in the comment section and of course gonna put it up there now
Just cuz I want you to see it. Let us know in the comments
You know, what an ESPN right get right. What are the ESPN get wrong?
Obviously, I'll give you my take throughout here
If you think might take something tell me that what it is being you're right when it is being it wrong
We're gonna keep going through here and we'll go to the running back realm
Not a lot of
disgruntlement from me on this right a notable cut is Malik Davis
But Javante Williams is rb1 Jane blue and hunter Lipke and Phil Mafa are your Arby's two three and four
I have them as blue Lipke Mafa because that's the way it was put out in the ESPN article
I'm not gonna say that I think Lipke is probably two at this current time just because of a familiarity with the system
But blue has come into this year with a lot better
Mindset and we know that from multiple different reports from Brian Schottenheimer from from Jane blue himself
And I really do expect him to be a huge force this year
Now Malik Davis is the guy with the most experience from prior years
In fact, you go to the running back comparison from a 2025. He had the most games
He had the most rushing attempts and therefore had the most yardage as well
But the trust is there with Jane blue and growing Phil Mafa had a lot of prowess last year
Even though he spent basically the entirety of the year on IR before finally getting to see the fields in week 18
However in all this to be said, I think it's the right decision
I really do I think the Malik Davis as much as I want to sit here and say he deserves a spot
it's time to let the like young guys come in here and compete and
That's what they do with this roster projection
Let's go to the wide receiver room because this one is definitely intriguing to me as we have six wide receivers
Making the 53-man roster with CD lamb George Pickens Ryan Floyd Cavante Turpin
Those guys are all pretty much locks
But the next couple if you decide two or three whatever it might be our question marks and Todd Archer says he believes it's gonna be
Anthony Smith the seventh round draft pick out of Eastern Carolina and Marquez Valdez scantling the late free agency signing
Both those guys give all similar vibes
so we'll talk about that a moment but the notable cut is Jonathan Mingo in my mind a
Guy you tried to make the trade on it looked like might work out in it never really has
Transformed into anything and it's time to let go of that dream
but I do like a lot of what we're seeing from Anthony Smith and the talk about him is something that I think is
Really not understated as well
Now Smith being a seventh round draft pick does have a little bit over some of the UDF a's
And guys who might have them be like a trade shot home from last year
He has them a little bit just because he was a draft pick now over 2,000 yards in his collegiate career as one thing
But it's the average yards per reception that everybody talks about
17.8 average yards per reception and in 2024 was a
19.5 average yards per reception across 41 receiving our receptions and six touchdowns that year seven touchdowns in
25 he's a speed demon and gives off Marquez Valdez scantling vibe
So, I don't know if I don't think both of them would make the roster personally
I think I'm probably switching out one of them
I would say Mark was not as scantling
But it is intriguing because there's guys like Treshawn holding that I really did like last year like that
He kept on the practice squad
Have all the UDF a's that I think could actually be some good pieces
But wide receiver can definitely be something we discussed so get in the comment section
Let me know what y'all think about this because it's certainly one that is it has some discussion factor to it
Let's go to the offensive line the 53-man roster projection here from ESPN
Nothing really crazy on this line Tyler Guyton Tyler Smith could really be Tyler Booker Terrence Steele
Those are your starters the backups that keep Nate Thomas Trevor Keegan TJ bass and Drew Shelton
I think that there is some thought process and to going out there and adding an extra offensive lineman to this group
I do Matt Hennessy was supposed to be that guy
Ultimately, he gets injured and is not gonna be able to play for the season which really does stink
but I wouldn't be shocked if they go out there and one either add an offensive lineman in general or add an offensive lineman to
This 53-man projection, but obviously we can't just talk about this piece in that piece
It's 53 men and so they keeps nine guys on the offensive line
Which probably means he keeps more on the defensive line, which probably true
but here's what Todd Archer said about the offensive line and his
Projection saying Thomas is battling for the starting left tackle spot with Guyton
But could end up as the swing tackle bass will be asked to serve as the backup to all three interior spots
He has not played center in a game
but he has done it in practice the past couple years the Cowboys aren't too concerned about his ability to handle that spot since he
Has handled everything thrown at him in the past couple seasons Johnny Cornelius can enter the mix with a strong
Training camp. That's the extra guy that I had in my head Cornelius potentially, you know getting in there
So we'll see if ultimately he ends up there
But that is the offensive ones go the defensive line gonna be kind of an interesting way
We're gonna put the left outside linebacker on the right outside linebacker in this as well
Alongside the defensive tackles the notes tackle. This is not how it's gonna look just a heads up
This is just the depth chart that I came up with from the fit either man projection that we got
Just to put it in a little bit more easier for him to look at
We're Sean Gary Quinn and Williams. Oh to do a bone yet. Kenny Clark Donovan as a rock
Ooh, that's my thought process on your three down linemen and then your two outside linebackers
I think the outside linebackers are gonna take precedent on this and that's what we have with Sam Williams Malachi Lawrence
Bruce Lee a foul and Tyrus wheat all making it which wheat is
Intriguing because there's a guy that was cut that I wouldn't maybe talk about taking over him and then LT over to the rookie
And then Jonathan Bullard they add in the mix on the defensive line
The defensive line is really really good. Obviously when you have Quinton Williams and Kenny Clark on the same line
It stinks. I wish the Osa was here as well. That would make this even better
But it does make sense why you did trade him. It was just too much to pay for already
Great offensive lineman on the team
he was just the odd man out but
Here is an interesting part because James Houston did not make the roster and then he finished second on the team in sacks last year
With five and a half, but Todd Archer says this but he gets lost in the wash in this projection
Leo foul
Entered some earned some praise in his move to the edge while also having the ability to play off the ball
Wheat gets the final spot because of his ability on special teams and that is so huge and something that you'll see
Across the next couple weeks as we continue to do more 53-man roster projections and stuff like this
If you can play in multiple facets
Will that be on multiple positions like Leo foul playing off the ball playing on the ball?
Or if you can play on the special team side of the ball alongside defense or offense
Whatever might be you are going to take precedent over other guys
You are going to be gifted those spots over other people because of your flexibility
So that's what happens here
Stinks for James Houston because I mean he had a really good stretch
Early part of the season was a big majority of his five and a half sacks
But still had a good stretch and now it looks like he might not even make the roster
Let's go to the inside a linebacker or just the linebacker in general
I'm taking D winters and DeMarvi on over shown to be your linebackers
We already know over Sean's gonna be the mic
Shamar James is backing up over shown and then Jay Sean Barham and Curtis Robinson are gonna be behind Curtis
Excuse me are gonna behind D winters. I
Think we're gonna see a lot more Jay Sean Barham than we think and it really really quickly
That's not a knock on D winters, but more the rotational aspect of two guys still learning this defense
I had over Sean's learning it too, but he's at least been on this team and can formulate a little bit more
I am excited to see what it looks like from winters as we got him again from the 49ers
I'm excited to see what Barham does and you know, there's a lot been a lot of talk with him, obviously
I know that he was that Russian. I'm gonna put him here. So it's intriguing for sure. He's a big dude
I like this video their main projection. I do think it fits out
Well, the secondary is something that is also intriguing to me not because of like the top guys
that's again really easy to kind of put in here with the Ron Bland coming around Jalen Thompson Malik hooker and
Caleb downs, but it's the guys behind him because Kaelin Carson certainly deserves a spot
But so does Devin Moore they both get it here in the video three-man roster projection from town archer
Javon River jr
Has been raved about by Christian Parker and I do think he's going to have a pivotal piece in this early part of the season
Then PJ Locke gets the other safety role Darion Kendrick gets the other nickelback role
Downs is also a secondary option at safety. Should you have some injured players there? I think they might be willing to
Transition more Carson to a potential cornerback slash safety as well. So we'll see what happens
Obviously, you only have three safeties on this projection
Technically, I guess you want to go with four with Caleb downs if you want to put him in that room
Even though we already know he's gonna play nickelback. So it's definitely intriguing to see this
So that's obviously the majority of the specialist no surprises here
Brandon Aubrey's your kicker Bryce anger is your punter Trent Sieg is your long snapper?
Nothing really crazy there and I'll put up the question again. What did the ESPN projection get right?
What did the ESPN projection get wrong?
I want you to let me know your thoughts down in the comment section and of course
We'll keep you updated with all we get more projections will come
We'll have of course the full roster put out at the late late part of August early part of September
And we're excited to get the season going. So we appreciate you watching. We'll see you next time
