AI GeneratedMark Tate showcases his 1.6 scale Skymaster SC30 model aircraft at the Festival of Aero Modelling. This highly detailed Russian-designed jet, dressed in Royal Malaysian Air Force livery, features dual Jetmont 210 engines and was built with the help of professional collaborators to achieve a realistic, weathered appearance.
Hey there, how are you's doing?
Mark Tate is my name from Melbourne
and I've come up here for my third Festival of Aero Modelling
and Day 5, loving it as usual.
And there's my pride and joy, the Skymaster SC30.
It comes shipped today and it weighs around 30kg.
It has two Jetmont 210's, so 42kg of thrust.
And of course, the SC30 is a Russian aircraft.
They sold 18 to Malaysia
and I dressed this up for the Royal Malaysian Air Force.
And it's of course number 8 of 18.
I tried to get as scale as I could.
A good friend of mine down from Melbourne
quite a talented professional builder, Damien Mould
done the internal building for me.
And another great friend, Ian Mills
done the weathering etc.
There's a few other people that worked on it with us
but I love how it's come up.
And as I said, it's a 1.6 scale from Skymaster.
As soon as I seen it come online, I think it was around
20 or 19, I knew I had to have it straight away.
The fly is absolutely amazing.
I get a good 8-10 minute flight time, well 6-8 minutes.
As you can see in the cockpit, my beautiful partner Lisa
back down in Melbourne, she supports me
and she helps me set these up
and she's actually flying jets herself
so she deserves a spot in the jump seat.
You know, she pulls on my jacket there
if I'm doing some silly stuff up in the air
but yeah, it works well.
And honestly, what better place to fly it than out here
there's just so much room.
As you can see, I've got some of the ordnance
I've only put two on each side
to keep the drag down a little bit
but it works.
This one, they do come out with vector thrust
I chose not to have the vector thrust
and I get it around nicely without it
so there you have it.
It's a pretty imposing model, what's it like to fly it?
Honestly, I've studied a lot of the videos online
a lot of the YouTube videos of the Royal Malaysian Air Force
flight airshows
so I just went over and studied how they fly them
and try and copy it as best I can.
Do you have a set routine?
I have a 50% set routine
and I let the others have a 50% set at the same time
depending on where the wind's blowing
and how I'm feeling of course
I will fly very safe and docile
and yeah, definitely the pride and joy of the seat
that's for sure.
Now the obvious question for everybody
including your partner is how much?
No, you don't need to go there.
No, no, no, it's fine.
I can tell you two prices, one I tell her
and the actual.
She's aware.
It's a lovely aircraft to fly
and I'm surprised there's not a lot more flying out there.
So, David Law has one
and he flies it absolutely fantastic down in Victoria.
We have flown together once
and I look forward to flying with him again
in formation soon.
And thank you very much mate.
No worries, thank you.
