In this video we found a 1972 C10 and we had something happen that's never occurred in six
years of making YouTube videos. After spending two hours pulling the truck out of a barn and
driving almost three hours back home with it, the real owner found our shop and showed up and
confronted us thinking that we stole her truck. So not only do we have one of the grossest details
and worst vehicles we've ever had to do, but can we save a vehicle from her childhood and turn this
whole thing around? All right, I guess this is where we're supposed to be. The GPS did tell us
that this was the house, but we no longer have any service and this doesn't even really look
like a road. It definitely looks very overgrown. It's a little sketchy. Yeah. I see a trailer up
there. I did hear that there is a C10 in a barn up here though, so I guess... Look at the truck,
it's freaking out. It thinks we're going to hit something. All right, now we're in the right place
after a very sketchy detour, but I believe that the C10 is right behind this barn door
and I think it's been here since 1984. Hi pup. Oh man. Wow. Oh man. This looks just like the one
we're giving away. Yes, but this is the long bed. The one we're giving away is a short bed,
but it looks like it's been here every bit of 40... In 1984 to 42 years. Wow. That's insane.
It looks the part for sure. Oh Brent, someone wrote mine on it to make sure nobody took it.
Oh Mike, have you seen the interior on this thing? Oh no. Non-existent? Oh. Brent, come take a look
at the seat. Look at the interior of this truck. Oh no. Come look down here. Look how high
an animal's been in here and it ripped out all the foam and literally stacked it up to the bottom
of the seat. This is going to be much more work than we anticipated. All right guys, this is Caleb
who is the owner of the C10 and this is Petro, his dog who has stolen our soft shackle and now it's
Petro's chew toy. But I got to say, this truck is amazing. Was it always yours or was it someone in
the family's? My grandfather's and my grandma's. Okay, cool. He got it right after he ended work
in for T-Rex and went to GM and it was his daily driver back and forth. Is your grandpa still with
us or? No, no. He's at the cemetery here in town up there with my grandma. So this truck means a lot
to you then, huh? Oh yeah, tons. I mean those are the ones that raised me. They raised me my whole
life, you know, other than my mom. Always bounced back and forth. Caleb here is a friend of Marissa
who has been helping us find barn finds and schedule our barn finds and she said you have a
pretty interesting story. I think so too. It's been a wild ride. Back in 2011, I had a bad car
accident. The investigator for my accident, he said there was no brake marks and he said my tracks just
slowly drifted off the road and I went down into a little gully. I shot up on this little embankment
right before a driveway. It propelled me up into a grouping of trees and got ejected out my
passenger window. They said I flew about like 35 feet, broke both my legs. Both my ankles were
crushed and dislocated off the bases of my legs. My tibia snapped in half, shot out. My femur snapped
in half. Blew my spleen on impact. Lacerated lung, liver, colon and partial intestine removed.
Good lord. Yeah, yeah. Wow. I was in a wheelchair for about, it was like a year and a half, year and
a half to two year mark is where I started walking with a cane. Once I started walking, there was
no stopping it. Yeah, well I gotta say man, it's a wild story. I'm glad you're still here. I'm glad
no one else was hurt. Probably gave you a new lease on life, huh? It's just one of those things that
it's an eye-opener, you know, you see things different after that. If you guys are watching
this on May 16th or May 17th, it means that you have the very last chance to get entered in our
1972 C10 Shortbed giveaway. From the time that this video was posted, there's only 36 hours left
in the giveaway. Seriously, this is your last chance at winning this dream truck. It's a 1972
C10 Cheyenne that has this beautiful orange and cream paint job. I like to call it the cream
skull, but you could call it yours. And this is the absolute last chance to get entered, but it's
the best time to get entered because it's when we run the largest multiplier of the whole entire
giveaway. 30 times entries. You gotta go to the site and buy any of the detailing supplies,
merchandise, or microfiber that you saw us using or wearing in this very video. Click the link in
the description below or scan the QR code on the screen and go pick something up. Last time I'm
talking about it. Thank you guys so much. We appreciate every single one of you watching
this right now. Now back to that other 1972 C10. Something just happened that has never happened
in the history of this channel. Six years of detailing cars for people all around the nation,
and we just experienced a first. So the owner of this truck was not Caleb, who you guys saw
at the beginning of the video. The real owner's name is Leslie, and she met us right outside these
doors when we had gotten back from picking this truck up. Very, very unhappy. This truck had
actually belonged to Leslie's father, and it was a very special truck for her during her childhood.
She has a lot of memories of her and her family, especially her father driving this truck and
taking it camping and whatnot. And so when she heard that the truck left the farm, Caleb didn't
tell her what we do here at WD, and so she thought that we stole the truck. So obviously that caused
a ton of grief for her, and she drove an hour all the way to our shop to meet us here and kind of
give us an earful. After us showing many of our videos to her and explaining exactly what we do
here and what we stand for here at WD and showing her the respect that she does deserve and apologizing
profusely for the grief that was caused, she said that we can go ahead and finish up the details. So
we're going to try and make this truck look as like new as possible, which is going to be an
uphill battle, because unfortunately this truck is in a lot worse shape than we had initially
anticipated. We know all the cars we work on here are in pretty rough shape, but this thing has been
whooped, and then also how it was stored. There's a lot of moisture in there, so this thing has
quite a bit of rust, and it's obviously really, really dirty. For example, I'll show you guys the
bed of the truck really quick. As you can see, not only is it filled with poop and cans and all kinds
of stuff, but it's actually rusted through over here. So this thing needs quite a bit of work,
not just a ton of cleaning. Not only does it have a ton of rust, but the interior is completely shot
as well. The only thing left of the seat is a little bit of vinyl that's still hanging tattered
off the back of the frame, and I'm pretty sure literally all of the foam is completely gone.
It really is a shame because this truck probably was stored in decent shape 42 years ago. We have
a different objective for this video than usual. Obviously, we try and get the cars running and
driving. I don't think that's going to be a reality with this truck. It is a really good
challenge for us to use our products to try and make this look as nice as possible because,
at the end of the day, this is a very special vehicle for Leslie. But we have a ton of work
cut out for us, so I think the first objective is going to be to vacuum up all of the loose poops
and vacuum out the bed. Now, moving on to the wheels, these came in in pretty rough condition,
and while we were pulling this out of the barn, the steering column actually broke,
which means we couldn't even turn the steering wheel to turn these wheels to get it into our
trailer, so that was a fiasco in itself. But you know we never back down from a challenge,
so we're going to see how good our detailing products can get these looking just by using
our tire cleaner and our purple rain wheel cleaner. And just for fun, since there's a ton of
iron and rust on this front bumper, we're going to spray some iron kryptonite and let that sit on
there while we do the rest of the pressure washing to see what happens. And I'm not going to lie,
although iron remover can't really save this bumper, it took a lot of the yellow away and
made it a lot brighter of a white, so honestly, I'm impressed. What do you guys think? Do you
see a difference? All right, before I get into the engine bay, I want to go over the differences
between this truck and our truck. So they are the same year truck, 1972, but this one does have a
long bed, and this truck's actually a three on the tree manual truck. But I need your guys' help
because I'm not sure what this is under this hood. There's two options, and maybe you can let me
know down in the comments. So in the engine bay of this truck, we have a inline six. Now, this is
either a 250 cubic inch motor or a 292, and I'm not sure which one, and it's in such rough shape
that it's going to be hard for me to figure out which one it is. So if you guys can tell just by
looking at this engine which one it is, I'd love to know. As you guys can see, there is a lot of
It doesn't seem as if rodents really got to this thing too bad, but I don't think we have a great
chance of getting this bad boy running, especially due to the fact that this is not attached and the
carb was left open. So I just don't have high hopes, and if someone's brave enough to get this
thing started, at least we give them a good head start. Also, if you guys have never tried this
trick yet, we use our exterior brush kit to get into the emblems and the places that a wash mitt
can't get to, and those little details make the world of difference when it comes to cleaning your
car. And it's also going to help get the dirt out of there so when it rains or when water gets behind
there, it's not sitting there causing rust. So if you want the exact brushes we use, they're on our
website. All right guys, real quick, we wanted to talk about iron kryptonite and what it actually
does on vehicles like this. So all over the hood you see all of this purple streaking, so that's
our iron kryptonite's chemical reaction with the iron that is not only embedded into this vehicle's
paint, but also the multitude of rust that is on this this truck's paint as well. Obviously,
if we look at this side, our iron kryptonite is not going to be removing all the rust
that was on the side of the truck, but what it does help is remove those little orange dots
that you might see pop up on your light-colored vehicles. And what that is,
it's brake dust from your car and all the other cars on the road, and what happens is as you
drive it gets stuck into your paint, and this is what you use to remove it. So unfortunately for
this truck, iron kryptonite can't help all that much, but for your vehicle at home, if you notice
any of those orange dots, that's something you're going to want to remove before you go ahead and
seal or wax or ceramic coat your car, and especially before you polish your car. All right, this is the
part of the video where Mike usually does his interior talking time, but we don't have much of
an interior to talk about, and that's why I have my handy-dandy blue cleaning gloves on, because
we have the most trashed interior that I think I've ever seen. There's only one car that maybe
was more trashed than this, and it was actually an old Ford van that had about this amount of black
walnuts on the interior, and this isn't walnuts, this is actually all of the foam
from the seat that some kind of rodent or raccoon got in here and completely tore apart and made
himself very comfy. Yeah, this is definitely the worst I've ever seen as well. I've never seen a
seat completely dismantled like that, but I have never seen a chair turned into carpeting
or a car. This is nuts, so we're gonna have to scoop all of this out and try to find, I guess,
all the hidden car parts that are inside. I'm not doing a good job of not getting out on the floor.
That was gonna be my objective, is to not totally trash the floor. Let's see what we got going on
in the glove box, and behind door number one we have nothing at all. That's actually insane. That
is insane, but it looks like the glove box was removed a long time ago, which is honestly the
best case scenario because that's where all the mice like to live. All right, be careful now. I
don't want to get anything on the floor. Have you guys ever seen something like this interior in
your entire lives? If you've ever come across something this disgusting, leave a comment with
a story down below. I want to read them, and I got to give a shout out to Mike for cleaning this one
up. Mike, you're a warrior. All right, now it's time to polish the C10, and this is when I usually
talk about the condition of the paint and how I'm going to make it look better, but I want to take a
quick second to talk about why we're polishing this truck, because truth be told, it doesn't
deserve polishing. It is in extremely rough shape, and it'll probably never see the road again, but
to us it does matter if this truck gets polished enough for that moment that Leslie sees it,
because it was her father's, and after the stress and anxiety that we caused her when we took this
truck, I want to bring back the best possible memories for her when she sees it. I want to thank
her for allowing us to finish the job and try and make this truck look as nice as possible,
and even though it might not end up on the road ever again, I want her to remember it fondly and
think back to when the WD guys cleaned it up and brought back some of those good memories that she
had with her dad who's no longer here with us. It's not about the car. It's not about the detailing.
It's about the people who make the memories with these cars and the passion for cars that we all
share. With that being said, the paint is extremely oxidized, and I think I'm going to use a wool pad
with a light polish to go ahead and remove that oxidation. That wool pad will help me hopefully
not pick up too much of this rust as well as not shred the foam pads that I would use otherwise.
I have a ton of work cut out for me, but I think this thing's actually going to look
kind of cool when I'm done, so let's get to work. All right, guys. We are back with the owner,
the real owner of the truck, Leslie. Leslie, nice to meet you again under better circumstances.
Yes. Obviously, the first time we met, you were a little upset. Just a little. Can you express
your feelings that day when you drove all the way from an hour away to hunt us down and find
your truck? Pretty hot. Very much hot. I can imagine. We felt awful about the whole situation,
especially once we learned how much this truck means to you, being that it was your father's,
that he's no longer here. Can you tell us of some of the memories that you have in this truck?
My dad actually got the truck to haul us five kids, take us camping, take us on trips. He put
a camper on the back of it. In the back, I remember he had put plywood across the rails,
so there was a bed on the top and then a bed on the bottom, so we could actually sleep back there.
I remember there was a port-a-potty in the corner to go on trips. He would take us out towards
Middlefield to go camping, Salt Fork, wherever they could find a place to go. If you're ready,
I'm ready, and we'll go ahead and lift this garage and do the big reveal. All right. Let's do it.
Here we go. Wow. Holy crap. There's no dust on it. And she shines, even through some of the
rustier bits. I can see through the window. Wow. It looked horrible. It was a little rougher than
we were hoping, to be honest. It is. Unfortunately, the critters ate. And it was full. I mean,
that thing was completely full. Completely full. And I'm like, holy, I wish I could have had a
video camera of the destruction. You know what I mean? That would have been great to add to this
video, actually. Wow. Yeah, I could tell he at one point loved this truck, but unfortunately,
time waits for no man or no vehicle, so. Nope. I'm not sure exactly why it got parked. Something had
to have broke. He was still working, though. He was laid off when we got the farm. They gave him
a loan for the farm while being laid off. Wow. And he was shocked. They had been looking for a farm
for years and years and years. And he did side jobs with this truck. Many, many, many, many side
jobs to support five kids. Hopefully, this was a little bit of a happy moment, bringing back some
good memories. Absolutely. Thank you very much, Leslie. Seriously, I appreciate you trusting us
with this. I know this was a wild ride for you. It definitely was. This one really kind of
signifies exactly what this channel stands for. I'm so proud that someone like you could come in
guns a blazing, ready to rip our heads off. Don't care what it looks like. I was taking it back.
It didn't matter. And we made it. We did it. You guys are nice guys. Thank you so much. I
appreciate it, guys. Do you want to see the C-10 that we're giving away? Yes. All right. Yeah,
that's what it should look like. But Leslie, this is our 1972 C-10 Cheyenne that we're
currently in the process of giving away. Whose was it? We bought this out in Los Angeles. It's
been fully restored top to bottom, new interior. The engine's been fully restored. And one lucky
person is about to win it because our giveaway ends in just 36 hours from the time that we post
this video. So in the next day and a half, someone is going to get this just for buying any of the
detailing supplies, merchandise, or microfiber that you see on our website, wdosupply.com.
There's a lot of stuff in there because I was looking, too.
There's a lot of good stuff on the website. Go check it out, guys. Leslie, thank you again.
I appreciate it. Thanks. You're very welcome. And thank you, guys, and we'll see you next week.
