AI GeneratedEmi explores the backcountry near the US-Canada border in British Columbia, navigating grizzly bear territory. After spending several exhausting days sanding and painting rust off her van, she finds a secluded campsite by a river to relax, cook a simple meal, and share her safety protocols for camping in wildlife-heavy areas.
Alright guys, we are going in the backcountry but look what we can find, some grizzly bears.
Alright, so let me tell you, we are right here, we are going to follow along this river,
I'm not quite sure exactly where we are going to go, this is the U.S. border between British
and U.S. obviously, but all this part here, this is where mainly the grizzly is, and they
can cross sometimes here, this is the highway that I just was, so we are really close to
the core area, so yeah, we are going to have to keep an eye on this, because I don't really
want to be the dinner for grizzly guys, or my cat obviously.
So Kenny, do you want to be the dinner for a grizzly?
Like the funny thing, if we were to see a grizzly when I was to walk her, she will definitely
just run her life off and be like, you're on your own mom, I'm out of here, yep, alright,
so if you wonder where we are, we are in the place that we've been twice I think to my
video I've done here, and one of them I said like, oh I want to go explore a little bit
more this area, but I just found a gorgeous spot at that time, and I just decided to stay,
so today we are going to go explore a little bit more, sorry, and see what we can find,
it's the weekend, so it should be a little bit busy, but I'm sure we can go quite far
that we are not going to see so much people.
So yeah, the line just right there, I'm pretty sure that's the line that separates the US
and Canada, so I'm very very close from US people.
So if I'm correct, I think Canada and US are the longest border that it's not like, doesn't
have any fence, so if I'm correct, yeah, we are the longest one, so yeah, and we are
very close, so that would make sense because there's no like, no real way like why we have
like a big line here in the middle of the world, so I'm sure like it's got satellite
and it's got, you know what I mean, all that stuff, so if I cross, you know, people will
try to catch me, but yeah, like I mean, technically like, if someone would want to cross in the
middle of the world, yeah, that would be one of the area, you know, and hopefully they
will not, for them, hopefully they will not get catch, but yeah, alright, so I think I'm
going to turn around pretty soon, I was kind of looking on the map, I purchased this, what
I'm going to show you, it is like an off-road map book, and it's got a lot of trail, and
I think I passed the campsite that I wanted to go, the recreational site, I should say,
so yeah, I'm going to go just a little bit further, and yeah, and probably turn around
after that.
Alright guys, I found the campsite that I was looking for, I think we are all by ourselves
here too, let's check this out, so this is where we are, and if you're wondering like,
Emi, it's been a couple of days since you uploaded, what's going on, I heard that you
were doing the rust on your van, yes, you're right, so I was working on the rust of my
van for the past, I think three days now, I'm exhausted, and I ran out of paint, so
at the local shop, I took everything they had, so I had to stop, but I'm going to show
you what I did, I did, all the rust is gone, that was a nightmare guys, and a big portion
of the van is paint, I just have to finish the rust, so I'm going to show you, so there
we go guys, so all this section, the bottom of this part here, has been painted, as you
can tell, it needs a little bit more paint, and I need the last coat of clear coat, so
it's all shiny and beautiful, but no more rust, and I'm going to show you the other
side, which is not as pretty, so I've been driving with the tape, because I'm too lazy
to remove them, but all this section needs to be painted, obviously, this is done, so
I need to redo a couple of things, like I was tired at the end, so this panel needs
to be re-sanded, I don't like it that much, and I tried, I don't know if you're going
to be able to see, but it's got some scratch, let me try to point that one, so yeah, I got
a big scratch and it was like all around here, so I tried to remove them, didn't work out
very well, so actually my friend Mark, if you follow Jeffy Bear, he's the one who did
his van, he was supposed to meet me this summer, might still happen, I'm not quite sure, but
that was supposed to be his job, to fix all that scratch, but I decided to try it out,
so I'm going to have to do it again, it's not good, no big deal, but yeah, a little
bit more sanding and painting, obviously, but yeah, so they should have the paint coming
this week, but yeah, next week, so hopefully they have enough, so I can finish to paint
the rest of the van, and yeah, so I'm going to make you a video when it's done, with you
know, how long it took me, and the price, and all that good stuff, so I'm going to go
visit that campsite, because it seems to be really beautiful, it's got the bathroom there,
picnic table, which I didn't expect that, I thought it would be like really more like
rough kind of look, because I've been driving for, I don't know, minimum an hour, I've been
driving very slow though, so I'm going to go walk the cat at the same time, I have my
bear spray in my back pocket, so yeah, so I'm going to go explore, welcome to my outdoor
cooking show, I just feel like it's like a cooking show right now, because you're right
in front of me, so what we are making tonight, so I'm not cooking on the campfire, it's been
a long week guys, with like painting this van and all that, I'm tired, so I don't feel
to have a fire, I'm going to fall asleep in front of it, so just decided to make some
chow mein noodle, to be honest I've never done that, so it's always like this, I'm going
to put some soy sauce, and I'm going to put some chili, sweet and chili sauce, for the
bunch of veggies, quite easy dinner, so for the vegetable, I do have a red bell pepper,
what else we have, it's a little bit windy, mushroom, I do have some snow peas, I'm going
to have that, what else do we have, some carrots, and a much needed beer, that's what
I'm going to start first with, it's been a long week guys, painting the van was like
a lot more work than I thought it would be, so it's not 100% done, so alright, so let's
start with the vegetable, so if you wonder, Amy did you forget already that you are in
the bear country, in the grizzly country, like what are you doing cooking outside, first
of all, I'm going to tell you that bear can break a window and open like, and go inside
a car or a van, that's quite easy to be honest for them, so it doesn't really matter if I
cook outside or inside, I'm just going to switch that here, give me a sec, put the vegetable,
so yeah it doesn't really matter where I cook, I'm going to tell you what I do usually in
the bear country, because in British Columbia we are so used to like bears, yes grizzly
are a little bit more, can be a little bit more dangerous than a bear, but I still do
the same thing and I'm not worried right now, you know I do wildlife photography so
I'm way like in the middle of nowhere, right now if something happens, I leave all the
food here for the bear or the grizzly and I just go inside the van, start the van or
honk to scare the bear away, so I do have my bear spray with me, something I always
do like when I'm in about, even like in the winter I never leave food outside, so right
now I put everything that I, like all the vegetables that I didn't use, they are already
inside the van, so that's out of the way and I'm not going to leave any leftover or anything
outside obviously tonight, and I'm going to show you what I do at night just to, kind
of a little bit more on the safe side in the backcountry, so I'm going to cook those
vegetables and it's going to be pretty much time for dinner, alright guys, here we go,
so by the way the chow mein noodle didn't have any eggs, so if you are vegan just double
check, I saw some that had eggs, perfect, so while I was cleaning I just saw something
just behind me, so I'm going to show you, so those things here, I don't know if you
saw that before, but this is to hang your cooler, things like this when you do camping,
so the bear cannot access to your food and doesn't come inside your van, things like
this, or your car, and you just get another one here, so yeah, you see that sometimes
in the campsite, things like this, and just beside the van, which is right here, look
what someone did, what, a little reminder that we are in the wilderness, there you go,
an old scarf of, I presume a deer, I don't know, alright everything is clean, the van
is looking good, look at that, I'm telling you guys, a lot of work, but I'm so proud
of what it is right now, in like another week or two, everything is going to be done, so
I have to admit that I'm quite like tired with a little bit of driving and like sending
the whole van this week, I think I'm just going to go inside the van and relax, maybe
read a book, and I'm going to show you, like I said, what I do at night before going to
bed to make sure that we don't have any wildlife coming too close to the van. Alright, so I
end up moving a little bit closer from the river and in like a more flat area, I'm so
tired, I was reading in my bed and I was just like, woah, so I'm going to show you what
I do, so this is my garbage, so usually they're just beside the door, but I don't want to
attract some smell, I have like my beer can and like a couple, not that much, I put the
garbage before I went here in the backcountry, so I'm going to put that inside my cover,
inside like the kitchen if you want, I'm going to show you, so I'm just going to put that
here in the bottom, so the smell just stay here and as soon as I'm done here in the backcountry,
I'm going to obviously throw that, so I'm going to close a little bit here, I'm going
to leave my cover here open, don't need to block that, I like to look outside at night,
and yeah, I think I'm going to be very, very, very close to go to bed tonight, it's not
a long night, like I said, I'm very tired with all the sanding I've done this week,
so like being in the backcountry, I sleep like so much better and just like super quiet,
I really park beside the river just because I love the sound of it, so yeah, I should
have a good night of sleep and I'm going to have, I always have my bear spray like close
from my bed when I'm in the backcountry especially, so yeah, and other than that, yeah, nothing
special, I'm sure it's going to be a good night and I wish you a good day or a good
night if you watch that before going to bed and I will see you soon, alright guys.
