AI GeneratedThis tutorial demonstrates how to create simple striped fish using watercolor and masking tape. By applying tape in curved patterns and using various color combinations and gradients, the artist creates a series of vibrant fish, finishing the piece with detailed fins and eyes once the tape is removed.
We are getting close to the end of my 31 watercolor techniques series.
Today I'm creating these simple striped fish using masking tape. I start by sticking a strip
of masking tape in a curved shape as you see in the video. Then I repeat the same process
with four more strips spacing them a bit away from each other. This is to create striped pattern
on the fish body. For the first fish I start with Indian yellow followed by sap green and then
indigo pigment. For the second fish I use clean water for the top part of the fish.
Then I apply ultramarine for the bottom part of the fish. After that I tilt my sketchbook to let
the pigment flow naturally. Then using a light value of ultramarine I paint the tail of the fish.
For the third fish I paint the top with light value of burnt sienna and then I add indigo to
the bottom of the fish. Then I use a light value of indigo to paint the tail of the fish.
For the fourth fish I paint the top with light value of crimson lake and for the bottom I use
indigo pigment. Then I use a light value of crimson lake for the tail of the fish. After
painting all the fishes I allow the paper to dry completely. Now I remove the masking tape
and you can see the stripes on the on all the fishes. Next using a light value of indigo pigment
I paint the fins for all the fishes. Then using a darker value of indigo pigment I add the eyes
and that's it our striped fishes are done and I hope this simple masking
tape technique inspires you to create your own beautiful fishes.
See you in my next video until then take care and bye bye from Prema.
