Miami Linebacker Chase Smith on Playing A Healthy Season

All right, so coming up the last season, finally a fully healthy season. Just how has that experience been playing through those refs now that you got another season, hopefully stay healthy as well, not gonna be like just to get that opportunity to come back and play for them? Feels amazing, any opportunity to really expand your opportunity to showcase your talents is like you got to take the most advantage of it and fulfill your opportunity. So I feel extremely blessed and I really appreciate the opportunity everybody around me has given. What was the process like playing healthy, finally getting the chance, it's been going on a long run, showing highlights here and there. How was that process of learning what your body needs and what your body doesn't need and understanding that? It was definitely, it was pivotal in my development as far as my confidence and finally coming off of the injury and being able to play with my guys and get comfortable with the people that are helping me get to where I am. And it was an amazing experience for me overall and everything I learned. So now, looking forward to this season, a bit of an older linebacker in tandem compared to the rest of the team. How is, I guess, the leadership aspect of how y'all are communicating with everybody, being vocal leaders, and helping everybody develop? It's translated actually really well. And I feel like because of maybe the age, but just understanding that you've been in the program for a while, a lot of people are really receptive to what you say. And I think we have a great group of guys that are really receptive to the message we're trying to put out, not only me, but our coaches and everybody around us. So I think it's definitely been a really good, smooth transition from last year to becoming a leadership. Now with that, being more of a leader, you have been a leader more than you are now. Who are some of those guys that you've seen stand out, especially in the linebacker role? Really everybody, man. We got a great group of guys. Kevin Wiley, we got Jordan Campbell, we got JJ Edwards, Kamal Bonner. We got Ezekiel, and of course, Monterey. We got a great group of guys. Carson as well. Appreciate y'all, thank you. Appreciate you.
