Nancy Guthrie Never Had A Chance!
Aug 5, 2026
Finally, some closure on Nancy Guthrie.
Oh my God, we spent so much time
talking about Nancy Guthrie, you guys, right?
Well, we find out she never had a chance.
What we all feared from the outset happened.
She was plucked from her house in the middle of the night.
They left her vital medications behind and she died.
Two ransom letters have been put out
by the Pima County Sheriff
that show what was sent to Savannah Guthrie and her family.
First one says,
hello, Savannah, we have your mother, Nancy.
She's safe but scared.
She'll be held for ransom and once payments received,
she'll be released unharmed.
We'll be holding her for a maximum of seven days.
You'll need to send Bitcoin in the amount of 4 million.
You have until Thursday, 5 p.m.
Okay, they put that out there.
It wasn't met, it was real, but it wasn't met.
And then the second one came, and this is a legit one too.
Guthrie family, we did not fully grasp.
This is so surreal reading this.
You know why?
This thing is so humanizing.
You know what I mean?
Look at the Guthrie family.
Hey, we did not fully grasp the seriousness
of her physical condition.
We never intended to hurt her.
That was not our intention.
She perished shortly after she was taken.
We believe it was heart-related, you know,
but our medical team here at kidnappers and company,
you know, they've been on vacation.
She's buried in nature now.
Is that meant to make you feel better?
Nothing you could have done could have changed the outcome
other than be like, wait, don't forget mom's meds
before you take her.
We want your family to know this
and hope you all can find peace.
We are truly sorry.
This attempt at being compassionate, this is unbelievable.
What's even more unbelievable is
in this data-centric world,
it's impossible to fail this profoundly.
Deputies initially treated the case
as a routine missing person, you know,
search and rescue call rather than a kidnapping.
That was a problem.
Investigators spent valuable early hours
deciding whether Nancy had wandered off
or had been abducted.
They wasted so much time at the get-go.
Dried blood on the front porch
was reportedly dismissed for hours
as possibly resulting from an unrelated injury
like maybe a nosebleed.
DNA testing later confirmed it was related
to her kidnapping and relevant.
The crime scene was not secured.
You had pizza delivery guys coming up.
You had live streamers standing on the front porch.
It almost encouraged contamination.
The homicide supervisor that was in charge of everything
had recently been formally reprimanded
for delays in securing a prior crime scene.
So he was already known to be not good at his job.
The search aircraft that goes up in the sky
got delayed for hours.
They couldn't find the camera operator.
He wasn't available and the senior pilot wasn't available.
So the aircraft took off after dark or at dark
and it delayed the transition from search and rescue
to crime scene the next day.
Detectives initially asked neighbors
only for doorbell camera footage
from seven in the morning to 1 p.m. on Sunday.
Nancy's pacemaker told us it stopped transmitting
around 2.30 in the morning,
suggesting investigators may have looked
the more relevant overnight period.
So they never even looked at footage
that would have mattered in the window.
The FBI director Kash Patel later said
the FBI was effectively kept out of the investigation
for the first four days.
And therefore, they received key evidence,
including Nest camera footage,
much later than otherwise they would have.
And the sheriff, Chris Danos, I mean, this guy,
he denied all of these claims,
but he still sent DNA samples to a private lab in Florida
instead of Quantico.
He did not wanna cooperate with the FBI.
He had it out for the FBI.
And the guy still defends the investigation
and calls the case active.
I feel terribly for Savannah.
I didn't realize this,
but 12 weeks before her mom went missing in early November,
they did a piece on her hometown.
It was an eight minute long piece in early November.
And Savannah was marching on the University of Arizona
campus with the marching band behind her.
And they went to her favorite restaurant
where she went with her family all the time.
And they were in her home and they were in the community.
And mom was part of it.
And her sister Annie was part of it.
And I just wonder, I'm thinking like, not to be cryptic,
but did the kidnappers see that piece and be like,
oh my God, look, her mom lives close by.
We can make some money by kidnapping her.
Is that the world we live in?
Where Savannah Guthrie can't do anything
on a personal front.
She just has to be a teleprompter reader
and you don't get to know her at all.
Because now, I mean, is that gonna stop people
from doing wonderful things
where they let you into their world?
Because somebody is gonna come and take your mom.
But I didn't realize that she had done that piece
in November and something tells me in the worst way
that that might've gotten the ball rolling,
which is again, so sad.
