Thomas Pieters reconsidering retirement from golf if LIV Golf folds, plans to play lots of DPWT

Hi, Garrett Johnson here at Live Golf New York.
Bedminster is our Bedminster out here.
And I'm with Thomas Peters.
Thomas, we've been talking to you since early August,
and I'm curious as we're approaching the end of the season,
what are your thoughts on where we're at,
with that obvious uncertainty going around?
What kind of went through your mind?
I think we just kind of go by whatever we get fed from Live itself.
We've got a player meeting later today,
so hopefully we find out a little bit more.
You know, the last three or four tournaments,
you see all the CEOs and everybody looking at it.
You can tell they're working hard behind the scenes,
so hopefully they get this thing done.
Yeah.
And Garrett, for you, I'm just curious,
when you see things like the agents who are going now
to the other tours, right, we did tour,
and you worked tour,
how do you react to that when you see news like that?
Everybody's kind of looking out for themselves,
and I think that's the thing that we've learned in golf as well
over the last couple of years.
You have to look out for yourself.
They're doing that by making an alliance there,
which is great.
Everybody's making a plan B, I think, at this point,
but I really hope we can all stay here.
I think it's a great call.
I know you mentioned it in conversation with Tommy,
but he feels like the product is really strong as well.
Back in the Virginia, he was really resonating that.
I'm curious, like you said,
there are plans that you have to think about
as a professional contractor, right?
I'm curious, like, what do you entertain?
Like, what do you really think about in the back of your mind?
I mean, for me, there's only one plan,
which is to come back and play here.
Like I said, I'd rather play out here.
Europe is a great all-black thing.
I can go to youth school.
I can play in a family group.
But mostly, it's not really in my mind.
It's something.
There's a list that exists,
and then you have to get golf balls
and get ready for practice.
And I'm just curious, like, as you talk about,
what's the vibe like in general out here?
You mentioned that Europeans do have a lot of fun,
but out here, what's your sense of practice?
You're asking me if I think it's going to continue?
I think everybody's pretty positive.
What's the sense amongst the boys, you know?
We don't talk about it a whole lot
just because it's so out of our control.
I think we actually have a job to do
and play good golf and practice,
and we kind of do every day.
We go through the same routine,
and I think if you spend too much time thinking about it,
planning, you're going to lose sight of this stuff here.
What's in front of you, obviously,
is the game of reacting to the shots in front of you.
I'm just kind of wrapping up in a series.
As we go down the rest of the year,
it's August, right,
and this being the last month of the season,
how do you stay sharp in your head?
What is it to that point that you stay there
about keeping what's in front of you?
We've got a tournament this week,
then we've got a week off,
and we practice,
and we go to live with Indy,
and then we'll see.
I think at that point,
everybody's in summer,
and we all go out and play and practice,
and we still definitely love to play and practice as well.
I know you had mentioned that before,
back in May,
that you would consider retirement
if the season is essentially sold.
I remember hearing later that you said
that you think there's about 12 guys
that would legitimately retire on the spot.
What's your sense of that?
I've talked since with my team,
and I'm in a really happy place in my life at this moment.
Talking with my family,
I love the Olympics.
I would love to do one more Olympics.
That would be in 2028,
and then I think we go from there.
