Nuggets Make SNEAKY Genius Move...
Aug 6, 2026
The Denver Nuggets have made a sneaky perfect move for their team and this could not be better
for them right now as they had a chance to go get an under the radar piece who they got an
up front viewing of when they won the NBA finals and saw the impact he has.
While there is no resistion resolved on Peyton Watson but this does have an update that does
have serious implications on the future of Peyton Watson as a member of the Denver Nuggets and guys
we could dance around it or we could jump right into it. Preferably I think we should jump right
into it so that's what we are going to do after I do ask you guys to subscribe to Nuggets Digest.
70% of viewers currently are unsubscribed it is completely free to do and we are on that road to
4,000 subscribers. We might be road tripping but we are still going to be dropping videos and as
we know despite all the Peyton Watson drama Ben Tenzer needs to go out there and find a way to
add more talent to this Nuggets team. We all know when the Nuggets won the finals before Tenzer was
running the show here there was one factor that was a sure thing and that was the Nuggets had one
of the best benches in the league. There has not been a clear resolution on if Bruce Brown is coming
back to the team but he wasn't the difference maker he was last time around at the same point.
Obviously we are hoping guys like Alpha Diallo will be like a sneaky good move and rookies like
Trayvon Brazil will be able to help while they do still have a few decent bench pieces here and
there but here's the thing they made a great move today and this is better than anything they have
done in a while in free agency when it comes to bang for the buck and here it is. It was announced
that Lonnie Walker has agreed to a one-year deal worth 3.3 million dollars with the Denver Nuggets
according to his agency group as they told ESPN. Walker was with Maccabi Tel Aviv in the Euroleague
after playing in the NBA in 2024 and 2025 and now enters his 20 or his 8th season in the league
excuse me but overall this is a big move. I love this. I don't think Walker ever should have been
overseas if you ask me personally. I love Lonnie Walker as a player he's a great athlete he's shown
good defense because of his great athleticism he's always been a good plug and play player he's not
afraid to put the ball on the floor he's an excellent cutter and also for his career he's
been a pretty impressive shooter as well so it's all stuff you want to see out of a guy who we are
going to take this flyer on right now look it's a minimum deal the Nuggets are already looking at
this cap threshold so already this move to me makes perfect sense you had a guy you know can
play in the NBA last year he didn't play in the league the year prior he did and it was for the
Sixers but it wasn't for that long and the Sixers were taking almost a gap year due to injuries
so overall not that Sixers have been some great team or anything but they were not in the playoffs
last the two years ago now but overall what we do know about this team is that they were finding
talent and Lonnie Walker was one of the big the biggest talents they found late in the year now
our digest sports full career trajectory never had him as more than a rotational piece and
actually it went down to fringe guy but overall the reason it went down was simple he fell out
of the NBA throughout his time when he went from the Spurs going to the Lakers going to the Brooklyn
Nets he was effective he helped teams win he literally had a game where he completely changed
the Laker season now the Lakers they had Lonnie Walker on their team against the Golden State
Warriors and Walker in the fourth quarter at 15 points two runs and one assist going six for nine
from the field and one for three from three and helped the Lakers win a crucial game that put
them up in a series and gave them what would eventually be a win at the series winning win
over the Golden State Warriors back in 2023 now I think we all know what happened after that moment
if we do want to think about 2023 I know I like to think about it but overall it was a big moment
and it's a great move that I like and this is one of the nuggets have been teasing Ryan Blackburn
mentioned that Denver danced around adding Lonnie Walker in previous seasons he joins a roster in
need of on-ball creation and can definitely offer some on the wing and has to write his
career I mean we look at the numbers again we go to the digest sports website gotta plug the guys
of course but we do look at the numbers the man was with the Spurs for four years but didn't get
an extension even though he put up 12 points per game his three-point shooting wasn't efficient
obviously the three-point shot matters he goes to Los Angeles he shoots 44 and 35 which is a pretty
good split especially for a role player puts up 12 points per game also is able to play decent
enough defense well you know at the same time pulling down two rebounds and one assist this
is not a guy that's going to alter the direction of your franchise but he is a guy who can fly
through the air with the nickname being Skywalker as it should be and overall is effective he helps
teams on both ends he knows how to play winning basketball he's been in winning cultures multiple
times whether it's been around LeBron James whether it's been with the San Antonio Spurs
under head coach Greg Popovich not as much with the Nets or the 76ers but overall we have seen
Lonnie Walker show a lot of success throughout this point in his career and it is something
that's huge to know because again look overseas Walker performed no doubt about it he showed that
he could play shot 40 from during the 2024-25 season then after he didn't get signed after
the last season when he finished off with the Sixers he went to Maccabi Tel Aviv where he did
play well putting up 15 points while pulling down two and a half rebounds and two assists at the
same time he shot 42 percent from the field and 37 from three there was interest shown in Walker
he wanted to make an NBA comeback and now he gets put in a perfect situation I mean
a cutter who can hit an open three and create with the ball in his hands is something the
Nuggets could always use they needed another on-ball shot creator for their bench Walker can
do that they could always use more cutters with the way that they play the game with Nikola Jokic
but Walker can do that they never heard of a guy who's gonna hit his open threes Walker can do that
you never heard of a guy who can play solid on-ball defense due to great athleticism and
also can be put in situations to be a good defender Lonnie Walker can do that so I love
this move I think it's perfect we look at the Nuggets overall we look at their depth
on this team right now and it's not bad I mean we do have Peyton Watson on the bench obviously he
would start in this situation but I don't want to put him in the starting lineup until we kind of
look at the situation at hand whether he re-signs we're about to talk about that but I mean we look
at the team overall and there's depth there I mean well Spencer Jones shouldn't be right there
that's my fault but we look at Marvin Bagley being on the bench a helpful piece we look at
I mean Tyus Jones if he can bounce back we look at these guys and do see players who can be helpful
but they need a shot creator and obviously bring back Peyton Watson is going to be huge about that
after signing Lonnie Walker the Nuggets will have all 15 standard routes or spots spoken for
and pay a massive massive tax bill if they retain Peyton Watson without trading another player which
is what makes us so interesting we know the Nuggets don't want a big tax bill we know that's
something that really really upsets the Kroenke family and because of that you start to have to
look towards the front office what if they do retain Peyton Watson still someone's getting
moved this is not the end of the moves the Nuggets are making they have 15 guys on the roster they
want Watson they still want to offer around 20 million dollars per year the question is can
anyone else do better in a sign and trade if the answer is yes then they might lose him but if the
answer is no the Nuggets will be able to retain him and a bench with Christian Brown or Cameron
Johnson if both of them stay and it's hard to believe that if they do retain Peyton Watson
we will see both Brown and Johnson on this team we know Watson matters more we've talked about
this a bunch already we don't have to dive around all the Peyton Watson stuff every single time a
free agency signing is made because I know I do that a lot but at the same time this one matters
because they have all 15 standing contracts and they're not going to waive someone with a cap it
still affects it so that's not going to happen but we should look for is the following move that's
made does Johnson get traded because it's an easily tradable contract does Christian Brown
get moved because he didn't perform last year and the Nuggets will effectively just try to have
Peyton Watson be what they hoped Christian Brown to be after Peyton Watson showed he's already been
more of what Christian Brown has ever been that's an option so more moves are coming guys but this
is a win let me know what you think in the comments down below like this video subscribe
