Yesterday was Jackie Robinson Day and we got the new 93 overall Jackie Robinson in the
Jackie Robinson Day program that was added to MLB The Show.
I already recorded an entire video unlocking these cards, finishing this program, and jumping
in the ranked seasons debuting them.
But the audio's all jacked up so you're technically about to get two no money spent videos in
one.
At the start of the day, I had two season award programs and the Jackie Robinson program
to complete.
And might I note, this Jackie Robinson program, not only does it have Jackie Robinson, it
has Hank Thompson, it has Hilton Smith, and a Breaking Barriers pack where you can get
a 90 overall Negro Leagues player.
They're adding choice packs to programs now.
We're making progress.
It's the one big thing missing from the game this year was being able to get some good
free packs.
Maybe they've turned that leaf over.
So while I grinded out the Jackie Robinson conquest map, I also grinded out my Tops Now
lineup to grind the season awards program.
Dominated the CPU in a quick conquest game, 15-0.
And post game, we pretty much unlocked everything.
We finished the programs.
We got Garrett Crochet, Jackie Robinson, the Breaking Barriers pack, Justin Foscu.
And then I went through and we did one of our large pack openings.
We had 36 standard packs, a millionaire pack, some diamond choice packs.
We did get some diamonds.
We got Edwin Diaz, relief pitcher for the Mets, out of a pack.
Then we opened up those diamond choice packs.
We had the Spring Breakout packs and the Breaking Barrier pack from the Jackie Robinson program.
We added Satchel Paige to our no money spent inventory, but we are going to throw with
the Garrett Crochet in that Ranked Seasons game that I recorded.
I wanted to try out that lefty season awards card.
He's someone that just could be really nasty on the higher difficulties, so I wanted to
try out his pinpoint.
So we jumped into a Ranked Seasons game and we immediately started mashing nukes.
James Wood goes yard.
Jackie Robinson had a perfect, perfect base hit in his second at-bat.
We struck out virtually everyone with Garrett Crochet.
This guy was not prepared.
And then we just started piling on runs from there.
Four nothing in the fifth inning.
Kyle Schwarber hits a nuclear home run.
Gary Sanchez follows that up with a perfect, perfect in the gap.
And then Hank Thompson, I don't know what happened there.
He made a user error on the ball.
It snuck by and then he rage quit afterwards.
So we won the Ranked Seasons game and after the Ranked Seasons game, we had completed
the Blanco season awards drop week three.
So we have completed every program that we needed to complete at the start of the day.
Our other program screen is 100% complete.
Jackie Robinson's unlocked.
We're getting choice packs, no money spent programs now.
All in all, it was a pretty good weekend.
I now only have one more gripe left with this game.
Spread out Ranked BR and Affinity when those contents drop.
Do them separately.
Other than that, I love this mode right now.
I'm having a ton of fun.
And I got to say, it's aesthetically pleasing when that complete marker is on every single program.
I'm grinding through Team Affinity.
We're at 20% or more on all six divisions and we're approaching 50% on the NL East.
By the end of the day today, I'm going to be unlocking the 93 overall standout 2008 Mike Napoli.
So expect gameplay with this card by the end of the week.
Someone might be taking Gary's spot in the lineup.
Currently, what I'm working on is completing the Philly City Connect map.
I only have three strongholds left.
I still haven't even finished the Team Affinity map.
This is a work in progress.
That's going to be the biggest chunk in the Team Affinity.
I might have this done at the next no money spent.
Maybe two episodes from now.
By the end of the weekend, this will be 100% done.
Jackie Robinson, Hank Thompson, Austin Riley, Ryan Howard platooning with Paul Goldschmidt,
Byron Buxton, James Wood, Alberto Mondesi, Kyle Schwarber, and Gary Sanchez.
We're 14-1 in Ranked.
One more win will get us in wild card, which means we're maybe, what, a four-game win streak
from being on Hall of Fame?
Let's stay hot.
Home squad.
We are going to throw that Satchel Paige, and he's got the 93 Chase Dolander on the
mound.
This will be our first time seeing that 93 Dolander.
I got to compliment Amabile.
Maybe it's because every pitcher in the game sucks, but I do feel like I see a different
pitcher almost every game.
Ground ball, Riley.
Oh, what a play.
What a start.
Stop it.
I like the bold black numbers and letters that I put on these jerseys.
I'm a fan.
Mondesi make a play.
Two down.
2-0 fastball for a strike.
Now we're going to get a slider.
It looks like he's looking in, so I'm going to throw one in off the plate.
Get me a swing or a foul ball, and now we're just going to go straight up and down with
the curveball.
I haven't shown him the screwball yet.
I don't want to.
I want to save it.
Foul's off.
Hmm.
Let's go sink.
Yeah, I'm saving that screwball.
I'd like to take the lead and then suddenly start whipping out new pitches.
We get him in the rollover, and it's three up, three down.
Ew.
All right.
I've got to get my timing down here on Dolander.
That was an ugly inning.
Ground ball to third.
One pitch went out the start of the second.
The game's got a good pace to it so far.
Nasty pitch.
He's dead red fastball on the inside half right now.
Let's see if I can get another rollover on the sinker here.
One pitch, one out.
Oh.
Almost got that.
Ooh.
I gave in and gave him the fastball.
He wanted me to challenge him 0-2.
Bounce another curveball satchel.
Make it a good one.
Yup.
Perfect.
Six up, six down.
All right.
Not getting a read on that changeup at all.
I've chased that exact same pitch twice.
Ah.
Sinker down the middle, and we chopped it.
Okay.
This is beautiful.
James Wood steps in with six homers.
He homered in that game earlier.
3-2 on James Wood.
I just fouled off that changeup again.
Then he hung a curveball.
I am so confused.
We got a great swing on that.
We got good exit below on that, but it's a routine fly ball?
Ooh.
One pitch.
Ground ball right up the middle.
Why did it switch?
I already preloaded the throw.
Why would it switch my players?
Sinker straight down.
Beautiful.
Four, six.
Got time.
Bang.
That runner right back.
Now the curveball to start Napoli.
1-0.
He's the curveball.
See?
If you can locate it, you get him to swing over top of it.
Yeah?
Sinker in.
Oh.
That's a good pitch.
Ryan Howard.
It went right over the bag.
It's fair.
Nine up, nine down in my book.
Get up.
Mondese.
Mondese, be the guy.
It's off.
Oh, it's off the top of the wall.
It's extra bases.
He's going to get three, right?
99 speed.
He's flying around second.
He'll get to third.
A leadoff triple.
Ooh.
Schwarber smokes that fastball foul.
We'll do one, two.
Dude, I'll tell you what.
I like that changeup.
Even when you hang it out over the plate like that, I'm just not picking it up well.
And then Schwarber smokes one out to right.
That should be an easy sacrifice fly.
Mondese's flying.
We take the lead bottom three on a sack fly from Schwarber.
That ball was barreled.
Oh!
Gary does not want to get out of my lineup.
I said one thing about taking this man out.
And he's showing up.
110 off the bat.
440 left center field.
Right in front of Mike Napoli, might I add, who's catching for the other team.
That was a statement swing.
Ooh.
Sinker.
I think that might be the first sinker he's thrown.
Just kind of warped on me at the last second.
Got on top of it.
Here's Hank Thompson.
He homered in that first game.
Come on, Hank.
Just hundred.
All right.
That'll do it for the inning.
We get two.
Damage done.
Lots of good swings.
Oh.
Why did the ball didn't pop up right away?
I got nervous.
Mondese gets there, though.
I don't know how many guys get to that ball out there.
Still have only shown him the one screwball.
Not a lot of sliders.
Rolls over.
That one.
Austin Riley.
I thought he did it again.
Oh, no.
No.
I let go of the button a little too early.
Alphonso Soriano with the base hit.
Now Seeger in.
Can I get a rollover on a first pitch sinker?
Put it in play.
Seegs.
Don't be shy, Corey Seeger.
Perfect.
Line out to third.
Yikes.
Ooh.
Quick pitch.
Perfect release slider there to start the Abatamuki.
Good take.
Dada sinker.
It's 1-1.
Can I get that a little bit more down and in, though, Satchel?
Oh.
Oh, Gary.
Not a bad throw, Gary.
He got a really good jump right there.
It's going to challenge him here.
I need this way up and in off the plate, though.
Perfect.
Thank you.
It's exactly where I wanted it.
Candelario on deck.
Got him to swing at the sinker in off the plate.
And now 3-2.
I'm going to throw the screwball for a strike in.
Well, that was not a good spot.
Fly ball to center.
Buxton's there.
He got underneath of it.
Ooh.
Sometimes the pitch comes out of his hand and, like, your butt cheeks just instantly.
That's got to be gone.
There it is.
Ryan Howard.
It sounded.
It was a little bit in off the barrel, but I timed that up.
Like, when I pressed the button, I felt like I got out in front of it enough.
Now Buxton chops a curveball.
Nice.
I love the aggressiveness from the fielders this year when there's 90-something speed running.
He attacked that baseball.
And now James Wood's going to hit one over the trucks.
Deep out the right center.
That clears the monster truck.
Oh, my goodness.
James Wood.
450 on the dot.
The no-money-spent lineup is crazy right now.
I'm kind of excited for there to be some more variety with the team captain boost.
But this team is fun.
Got us to chase that one down with modesty.
We hit it right at second base.
But again, damage done.
We tag on a few more.
Big swing from James Wood.
3-1.
Dylan Cruz on deck.
Up by four.
I can't do three base runners.
Let's be aggressive.
Strike.
Honestly, I wanted that more out over the plate than it was.
Now I'm just going to throw a screwball for a strike.
I don't even care where it goes.
Oh!
Round ball to shortstop.
Jackie Robinson getting his first action defensively.
And we're through five.
2-2 on Schwarber, who's batting 600 force early.
Shout out to those of you who said I should have picked Adam Dunn over Schwarber.
Even had someone come back on a burner account to cosign himself.
That's why we love Schwarber, baby.
He does it all.
Jackie?
Oh, come on!
Oh, no.
Brandon Schwarber.
But he's still him.
Oh, boy.
Satchel out there in the six.
Still going.
Gives up a rocket down the line to Mike Napoli.
But it's only going to be a single.
It's a good screwball.
We've only thrown, like, four of those.
But this ain't good down and in on them hands.
Nice.
Quick turn.
4-6-3.
We won't get it there in time.
One down.
Smoked!
No reason to die for that.
It would have been an RBI triple if we dove.
Still, tying run is not in the batter's box.
A double play here would rip his soul out.
It really would.
It would be a game-changer.
Beautiful.
4-6.
Oh, quick glove flip.
Beautiful.
We're out of here.
Hollander off-speed is pretty good.
I got to try this card out when I get an opportunity.
He's at 62 pitches here in the bottom of the sixth.
46 of those 62 pitches for strikes.
He has gotten me to chase the change-up quite a bit.
Can't lie.
I've been bad on the change-up.
Did we pull that?
Did we get that in enough?
Not enough.
Uncle Larry flags it down.
Oh, Ryan!
Multi-homer game!
That guy is so good.
I love my first baseball tune.
5-0 now, bottom six.
Ryan Howard tacks on to the lead.
And he's probably going to get Dolander out of the game at this point.
We have Buxton, Jameswood, and Mondese up.
No, he's going to keep him in there.
65 pitch mark.
Oh!
Sinker right out over the plate.
Smoked.
And then Josh Bell couldn't handle the throw in the dirt.
We're safe at first.
E-5.
They called it a hit.
You could give both of those dudes an error.
That's a bad throw.
Needs to be scooped.
You're going to give me a hit?
Going to go to Felix Bautista.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
We're looking for that heater up.
Hit and run.
Oh, he threw Splitter.
Oh, smart man!
I almost got him!
He almost threw it back to first.
Jameswood in there now.
0-1.
Ground ball!
He does not get through the end of that.
That would have been a two ball.
We'll just act like I rolled two.
The stolen base thing never happened.
I don't know what you're talking about.
Let's pitch.
Oh!
That's one of his better swings of this game here.
Top seven.
Satchel Paige still going in the top of the seventh.
Amer Condelario steps in.
He's only at 63 pitches in the seventh inning.
Throwing lots of strikes.
Getting soft contact.
0-1 on the foul ball to Jangmer.
Let's kind of dot down and in here if we can.
I love the retro Philly Junies.
Those uniforms with the blue accessories.
Two down and a two.
He just swung through a fastball right down the middle.
I'm going to throw him off.
Drop the screwball.
Oh!
Where was that pitch?
I got a really good release.
What was that doing down there?
I asked for it like right here.
Let's try that again.
Again.
Beautiful!
Satchel Paige is through seven scoreless.
Fly ball right.
One down.
Dylan Cruz leads off the eighth with a six-pitch at-bat right there.
Brings up Josh Bell.
Let's see if we can have a quick at-bat on Josh Bell.
Throw lots of strikes.
Put something in play for me, Josh.
Okay, not that though.
That's a bit much.
There's no way he just caught that ball!
He caught that ball!
Oh!
Who do you think you are, James Wood?
What?
And then a first-pitch slider to Napoli.
We get an out on three consecutive pitches.
What in the world?
Yeah, Felix Bautista is not the move.
I've either been perfectly locked in or completely lost today.
There's not much in between.
Ripped!
Base hit left side for Austin Riley.
He just started spamming fastball there.
You're not going to bully me.
I'm up five.
Oh, Ryan Howard just got under that.
An inch from a three-homer game.
We go to the ninth.
We need three odds for a win.
Let's make it 2-0 in the video.
That's disgusting.
You're going to start the ninth inning with that?
I will go away with it.
Austin Riley showing some athleticism over there.
Now we're going to throw the slider even farther away.
Oh, that ball was hit well.
Hank Thompson got a great jump, though.
Look at Hank!
Soriano steps in.
Sinker in.
Jam him.
Oh, no!
The shutout's gone in the ninth.
Are you kidding me?
Alfonso Soriano was not going to leave here with a goose egg.
That's crazy.
Fly ball to center.
One pitch, one out on Mookie Betts.
Satchel Bates goes the distance.
A complete game, one run.
Five hit?
Five hit ballgame?
Six hit ballgame?
Five hit ballgame for Satchel Bates.
Ryan Howard hit two homers.
He got Player of the Game honors.
Should have went to Satchel.
Come on.
And bam!
Just like that, we have shot up into the 600s.
We are making our way towards Division Series.
Satchel Bates went parallel.
Won in his first game.
We got some more packs.
We got some more chapter 2 packs.
Unlocked out of Team Affinity postgame.
We're now 15-1 in ranked seasons.
We are in wildcard.
Making our way towards Division Series.
DeGrom, Mike Cameron are the rewards.
Once we make World Series,
we will be starting the Road to 1,000 series, by the way.
This is technically an announcement to the channel.
Highest I've ever been rated in ranked seasons
was 975.
Twice.
975.
Just 25 points from that 1,000 rating sticker,
icon, whatever you want to call it.
It's honestly, though, for lack of trying.
I'm probably like 10-4 lifetime on Legend.
Once I make World Series, there's no rewards up there.
So it's hard to motivate myself to keep going.
I don't know.
The ranked rating doesn't move me.
When I think about the best players in the community
and in the world, I don't think about their ranked rating anyway.
I think about their tournaments and their head-to-heads.
But this year is the year I want to put a comma
in my ranked rating, and we're going to do it.
But first step, Division Series.
Then we make World Series.
Then we start the push.
And right now, we're looking good.
We've won 15 out of 16 to start the year.
Our no-money-spent lineup is nasty,
mostly thanks to the Byron Buxton Tier 3 boost.
But I have a feeling we're going to be getting
some more captain boost and captain team builds
over the next couple of weeks that could be good.
I have a feeling we're going to get some more captain cards soon.
Maybe that feeling is just me being a little bit bored
of the Byron Buxton boost, but I do have a feeling
they care about these captain boosts and team builds.
Otherwise, they would have scrapped the whole idea last year
when everyone hated it.
Nonetheless, though, this team has been a ton of fun.
I'll see you guys in the next no-money-spent video.
Who's going to be pitching in that one? I don't know.
This staff is just chaos.
It's pure chaos.
