See we will see um right so now it's coming down by numbers 37 seconds with 5k to go it's going to
be a very late catch if it does happen this though an incredibly fast-moving peloton with
a probably rather nervous looking uh motorbike there waving them either side everyone threw
it neatly final 5k to go for these leading four riders here they are leading at the moment the
american joshua lebo uh of meridian racing at the back there in the light blue jose miguel morera
ahead of him and gonzalo rodriguez the portuguese rider moreira and rodriguez both portuguese and
on the front the irishman ronan o'connor riding for the aps pro cycling american team they have
done a very good job today they're coming towards 4k to go and they still have 35 seconds of lead
over this peloton now it's getting serious this is definitely ua team members xrg going right
we're going to fully back well we believe the yellow jersey uh rui olivera he's not yet won
a professional road race in his career despite being the olympic madison champion
currently having won that title with yuri leitao uh can they make it work today either way the
other continental teams in here as we know will not give up trying there's a real urgency to this
now isn't though the whole it looks different the whole race looks different yeah indeed it's been a
cautious day today this is the longest stage of the voltara portugal this year it's an 11 day
race anyway it's been close to 40 degrees we believe the temperature might actually be 40
degrees in elvash where they're racing into right now on this far inland stage in alentejo
and these four have done a really really good job 25 seconds now flick of the elbow from libo they're
going to try and survive obviously all the way to the line but look at the speed of this peloton
yeah they're taking full advantage of this descent um we're running to the bottom of the
descent really pretty soon the bottom of the descent really is about to the two and a half
2.7 kilometers to go but you can see the speed on i kind of think that's a slightly reduced peloton
as well i think there were a few people who got dropped in the back at the tail end of the last
climb you haven't made it back on but 23 seconds three kilometers to go seven seconds a kilometer
pretty tight well there's no time for pausing in there's a little bit of looking around the
impetus in the peloton is definitely seemingly more twitchy if nothing else they've just gone
through 3k to go so that's right our breakaway arm 200 meters ahead of them something like that
we can see them they're right there yes right breathe in round the roundabout here should be
fine it's a little bit dusty but it should be smooth it looks smooth to me there's a real
battle though to get control definitely today there's more teams hutch that want to be in
control of this yeah far more teams engaged in this because i think there are more teams that
fancy the sprint today i tell you what i did think that we've done well to get through there smoothly
i think one rider going onto the curb and hopping back in i think we are yeah we're all we're all
in one place right this is another good showing by uh taffa ovos here they've done this before
though and not quite made it count they've got a jump actually they've got a little bit of a gap
between them and uh the first of the anicolor riders yellow jerseys back there too careful
round the roundabout they've not made the catch just yet but it's close this is messy again hutch
there are so many gaps opening up down there two of the uh abiludo riders have got a gap on the
others i don't think they realize they're being closed up now by the taffa ovos riders the
breakaway is going to get caught only one last attack one last attack from gonzalo rodriguez
they've done a brilliant job these four but they're going to get caught just before the flam
by the looks of it catch has not quite happened just yet in fact not quite there yet going with
him brilliant to see this isn't it yeah we've had kind of splits being closed up some of the
some of the county teams really making life hard here for um for the two three bigger teams than
the rest this is this is an amazing ride by rodriguez i don't know how where the earth this
is coming from they've been out there the whole stage is 180 kilometer stage in 40 degrees of
that is a massive effort to try and stay clear and they're still not caught yet they're going
to have about 600 meters to go and he's overcooked it oh no just as he was about to be caught um one
of the abiludo riders has gone down hard as well that's going to cause a problem in the build-up
for this sprint this will not be the same kind of expectation of riders we were looking to see
there's the yellow jersey and he's going to do it i think at the moment we are looking at rui
olivera closing in on the stage win he's got to catch one rider here this is one of the credit
riders who's burst clear this is the perfect opportunity for rui olivera to do it but the
credit boom rider who's ridden through the middle of the gap as the crash happened he's got to be
coming to the line right now olivera takes the left hander if he's ever gonna win his first
professional stage and it comes right here in elvash can he do it though olivera's read this
one perfectly but has he gone too soon he's got riders all over him olivera's not gonna get this
of it or is it they've got the one two wow wow what it's calling it immediate is the angle
linares the venezuelan sprinter but i think it may have been gel matias matias was celebrating
matias and linares were there well they did a lot of work tapa ovos and it looks to me like they
have just made that count potentially with the one two which they celebrated on the line two we're
going back to where the crash happened this is emil nielsen he's gone down hard oh you've got
a feel for gonzalo rodriguez i was just waxing about what a brilliant ride he was doing staying
out there but straightened up a bit on that roundabout hutch and he does not oh he looks
in trouble doesn't he i'm sorry to see that i was such a strong ride from him today
