Day three. Yeah, so I had a nice dinner with my editor John Plume last night
Yeah, this isn't day three for me this day 16 for me so
Today is the first time. I'll be back on a plane and
Almost a week now, so this is the end of my driving
The driving piece of my trip, so I have gone. I've driven this car from Detroit
To Columbus to Cincinnati to Indianapolis to Chicago to Green Bay
to Minnesota, so
Yeah
I'm gonna be with the Vikings today most of their stuff is in the afternoon
So I had to book a late flight which means I'm on about I think I was like about an 8 o'clock to Cleveland
This of course is a time zone ahead of Cleveland
Which means I'm not like landing until like 11 15 11 30 in Cleveland and then with the Browns tomorrow
quirk of my trip, but before I go to Vikings I am
Getting gas because I don't know how long I'm gonna be at Vikings
And so you try to maximize your time there
And you if I've got a full tank of gas. I don't have to worry about that for my rental back
Then I get an extra maybe 10-15 minutes
I'm wearing a different shirt today, right?
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I left three days of clothes and
in
In LA so that was a slight disaster
Sometimes these things happen that's currently and in transit back to my to my house in Massachusetts and
And yeah, I had to do a little shopping, but otherwise good. I've gotten by
Just doing laundry twice, which is a win and I based on what's in my suitcase right now
I think I'm gonna make it home on Thursday
Six I think this was seen as a paid accomplice by a lot of people but there were a couple of reasons why
Number one, you have to know what's going on beforehand so you can react in the moment
So that's important and you have to have good background on whatever the situation is doesn't always work out that way, but that's important
To have as much background I made as many of the big stories you can
You know and then from there, you know, I just
Think it's just you know an ability to you do it enough and you you learn how to handle it. So
But it's good to be here when this when something like this happens for sure
it's just comes down to knowing what you're covering and
Being able to get a hold of people and no, I I don't I don't think it's overly complicated
You know, I think for me, it's just like I have
You know, I have an ability to
Adjust the fly and look like that's what I've done. That's what we signed up for. That's what you I've done my whole career
You know when I was an individual team beat when I was covering a lockout
You know when I was covering I mean like I can remember the ultimate situation was the the the string of domestic violence
Situations that have in the NFL in
2014 where it was very rice Adrian Peterson and and Greg Hardy and you just have to
You have to be adapted
No, I don't keep a personal journal
And I think if most people like had to look at this in my notebook
It probably all looked like chicken scratch at this point. I can kind of write in code to myself
So this is a lot of information in it, but I don't know how many people actually be able to decipher what's in there
Yeah, I mean I guess a lot of it's just upstairs, you know what I mean like and I try to
you know when I come to each of these places take a little bit away from each of them and
Maybe I should start. I don't know
Work day, I don't know how to grade it
I mean, I you just kind of like hope that you can get to the best work
He possibly can and I like it was interesting being in there today when you know, the biggest story of their summer breaks
figuring out who their quarterbacks gonna be but I
You know, it's my job to figure out how and why and all that different stuff and so
We were able to get some of that done today
You know, I guess like I said the whole time you've been with me like it's I mean for me like the main thing
it's just going and seeing people and making sure that
You know making sure that that I that I get face time with the people I need to get face time with
And yeah, so I think I
Rarely walk away from one of these as I miss our turn
I rarely walk away from one of these thinking that you know, was it it was not a good day
Just a chance to go and see people and everything else makes these makes these good
Minnesota is interesting because it's like a whole campus, you know, it's just such a
Massive place and yet it's easy to get around. I
Think that one none of them are perfect, but that one's you know, I think a model for a lot. He's affected
they've got like a
fully functional stadium in there and then three practice fields and
You know an indoor that it's got enough room to punt and all the different, you know
bells and whistles and trappings that these places have to have
To have the players in the best position to play. Well week to week. It's awesome
Remember this is the start of my season
But I mean, yeah, it's gonna be good to go home and I'm still a couple days away from that
Like I go from here to Cleveland to Buffalo and then home
But obviously seeing my kids my wife
All that's great and
Before I have to leave again next week
it's
It's it you just feel good. You feel more prepared for the season you feel like
You know, you've seen who you need to see and like to me it's like it's as rewarding as any trip
I may go to the course of the year
Because of the amount of people that I see is the amount of work that I'm able to do
hopefully
Hopefully everybody out there enjoys it too. I'd say you have to love it
You're probably not gonna watch your friends do a lot of it, but if you do love it
Doesn't have the same appeal that we used to I never viewed it and I get to be around
Off to Cleveland now my flights already been delayed so we are now 16 stops in
three with the camera
The first 13 with that the last two without so be sure to check out everything that we have from Cleveland and Buffalo
