Video Summary
AI GeneratedBrian Phillips demonstrates the E-Flight 1.3m Cherokee RC plane, highlighting its flight characteristics, features like reverse thrust and landing lights, and versatility for both beginners and experienced pilots. He showcases its performance on 4S power and provides tips on grass operations and maintenance.
YouTube, it's Brian Phillips. We've got the Cherokee. This thing is one of my favorites,
the 1.3. We had a red and white one. This is the blue and white one. It's the newer version,
and it flies on 3 or 4S, has reverse thrust, all the different features that we've come to expect,
and we've even done a second thoughts. I think this might be a revisit for us,
but either way, it's a beautiful night. We're going to fly for you now,
show you the reverse thrust, and here it is. Take off flaps. I tried to retract the gear.
There are not retractable gear on this. Just Asterix. Asterix, not Asterix Plus on this one.
But flying this plane, just cruising around on a beautiful evening, what more can you want in RC?
I mean, it's just like one of my favorite flight experiences. I kind of wish they'd make a Carbon
Z of the Cherokee. Camera crew, a little bit further. Thank you. And there you can see the
directional bore equipment that I just flew over down the damn runway, and we'll fly out over the
damn gift shop. You will notice that it's almost unnoticeable where it is. And then through the
jungles. Take off flaps now. Full landing flaps. We'll force that thing down. Absolutely gorgeous
flight experience. You have to be kind of hard in the throttle to make that turn because I'm going
so slow, but that's one of the reasons why I love flying the Cherokee. It is not calm out right now.
It looks like it, but there are some variable winds that come through, and it just sort of
like pushes, and you'll notice the plane going up and down a little bit because of it. But boy,
oh boy, those landing lights are so dang gorgeous. If you want a great experience,
get one of these planes. You'll love it. If you're brand new to flying RC, this is a great place to be.
But if you are an experienced RC aficionado, it's also a very good place to be because it just does
all the stuff in such a gorgeous way. Out of the flaps now, you'll notice it's cruising along quite
a bit quicker, about 30% throttle here. We'll go ahead and do takeoff flaps now. You guys don't
probably realize this if you don't watch a lot of RC videos, but flying around in tight environments
can be a little bit challenging. Of course, we've always done it here on Brian Phillips RC,
and not just at this circuit, but where we used to fly in our neighborhood with very friendly
neighbors, where we had blessing, more or less, to fly around. And also before the rules had
sort of changed and hamstrung those of us that were capable of doing that legally
into flying from Frias and with remote IDs and all this stuff, it was always a joy to fly this
type of plane for landing flaps now. By the way, if you guys are wanting some help setting this plane
up, we'll bounce in there. Check out our unbox build radio setup. It's what we do when we get
these things brand new out of box, and we want to show you exactly how to set it up from start to
finish, including every painstaking detail. Although this plane is so easy, you're going
to find that it is definitely not a hard one to follow along. But just going through the jungles
over there, and we'll go way around. So guys, let us know in the comments below, assuming you guys
are seeing this right after Memorial Day weekend 2026. We had a great time going to Joe Knoll here
a couple of weeks ago, and actually had a visitor that we met at Knoll that came all the way here
on his rounds, and that was super fun. Filmed a little bit of footage. Not sure if you'll even
see it, but either way, it's just the RC community is such a great place to be,
and we had so much fun working together through this experience. No, you don't have to just do
docile things. You can do aerobatic maneuvers, stall turns, and then of course upside down and
right side up. I like it. Doesn't seem to care. So you won't do that in a real one, but just you guys
know, I was about 30% throttle on that whole maneuver on 4S. So you can fly this thing on 3S
all day long and be just fine. But I will tell you this, having 4S capable power is just a great
safety check. It helps so much with margins, and goodness gracious, look at that gorgeous sunset.
Absolutely to die for. We're going to fly through this hole here. Try to keep it going really slow,
all the way out the hole. You guys see how it's bouncing around? You ready?
You can still do fast flying, crazy fast flying, if you want. If you're into that
sort of thing. Of course, I'm not usually. And yes, the blue and white looks really good.
Our timer is just elapsing. Doesn't really mean much to us. This is out of throttle altogether.
Love that noise. Take off laps now. Guys, we love flying these planes for you. We love the
fact that you come back for more. And we're going to keep doing it as long as you guys keep coming
back. So we're eternally grateful to you for being part of our Brian Phillips RC experience here.
Whether it be just watching us fly, or maybe having an unbox build radio setup,
or watching me crash, or whatever it is. Maybe it's a subscriber special where people come out
here and visit us and get to fly a plane with us and enjoy the experience. We just love that you
guys are here with us. And so thank you for being part of the Brian Phillips RC experience.
There's so much more coming. If you're needing the kick in the butt to get out of the chair and
into the air, you're in the right place. We'll help you do it. And if you guys are not,
you guys are not yet in the air, all I've got to say is what's stopping you.
Real quick, while we're stopped on the tarmac, we're about one minute 14 plus six.
And as you can see, we've got plenty of juice left. So the bugs are starting to come out. And
so we're going to keep flying for just a minute longer and see if we can stretch this out. Show
you a little grass ops here before we get too far gone. There's a flag I'm going to try to avoid
marking our water. So here we go. One of the concerns in flying from grass with this plane
is that tall grass will catch your wing and spin you around. And if you do it too,
if you do it too fast, it can lead to a pretty catastrophic thing. I'll see if I can get a grass
landing here for you. I was trying to avoid that flag. See, and then these red flags are,
they're kind of spread out for me. So it's not as bad. And you can see how bumpy it is there.
So really, why don't we try this here? We'll do front yard. This front yard is a little bit
smoother, but not by a huge margin. Okay, here we go over here. All right, here we go.
You guys see what I'm talking about? It's got plenty of power to get it done,
but you just have to be on it. Take off flaps down. You have to be on it in order to keep the
thing from getting destroyed. That nose gear is spring loaded, but the mains are basically
a piece of aluminum that reaches out if I remember right. Yeah. So they're pretty simple.
There's not much protection there. And so you'll just tend to bounce. Let's see if we can get a
in here. I'll make a base leg turn right at the last second. There it is. Oh, that was funny. The
prop got in the way of the light. And I thought maybe I'd lost the light. What you guys can't see
is the 47 mosquitoes that I'm watching eat the camera crew as we do this stuff. So we have to
kind of keep repositioning ourselves. Camera crew, let's go over to the left, please. Thank you.
That's perfect. One more takeoff this way. We'll see if we can get those bugs to chase you over
there. Gets a little squirrely on takeoff for me. You'll notice it wants to walk left and walk
right. And the fun thing about this plane is it's just shooting takeoffs and landings. You know,
20, 30 of them on a pack is one of my favorite pastimes. Try to get it to look very real. Take
off flaps only. Okay. Full landing flaps. We're going to watch those three landing lights go
right through that hole. Get it right between those trees and then a little bit too fast.
So we'll do, we'll do a nice crash and I was going to use the thrust reverse. So we'll pause
and reset. All right. So we're going to take off this other direction. So you guys get to see.
And I think I know what's going on. I think one of my wheel pants is sticking.
I think that's what's going on, hon. Look, one of my wheel pants is stuck on the landing gear.
That's why it's being so janky. Cause like I said, spring steel here, but then look,
this popped out. So all you have to do is get that pop back in and then it'll spin free. So
guys check your wheel pants, make sure the Cherokee is still free and we'll take off this way.
Oh yeah. Way better. Looks so realistic. Look at this beautiful sunset and with thrust reverse
right to the ground where we want. So one of the things that's nice about
thrust reverse is we could actually use the rest of this runway because it gets us so dang close
to the end of the runway, but I can do it with confidence.
Faster approach. And that's why the thrust reverse is so dang nice. You may not need it,
but if you've got it and it comes in handy, use it.
It's like all the dead battery flights on Brian Phillips RC,
you got to have a takeoff like that. So gorgeous. Guys love this plane. It's so much fun.
It's definitely one to write home about. No, it's not the RV8. It's the Cherokee 1.3.
One of my all-time favorites. Guys, if you don't have one in your fleet,
I highly recommend you get one. Cameraman, I'm going to do a carrier landing here.
You should be fine where you are. It's going to be on the runway, I hope.
Okay. Oh yeah. It's going to be good. The landing flaps now.
And it's getting weak, so I think I'm going to call it. Guys, what an amazing experience.
E-Flight 1.3 meter Cherokee. You can do all the fun things you want to do. You can fly scale,
you can fly it on 3S, you can fly it on 2S, excuse me, on 4S or on 3S. Okay. We're flying
it on 4S 2200, a 50 seat pack. Not that it matters. You could do a 30 seat pack without any issues.
And it just looks the part. Beautiful glass panels. Of course, it's plastic for the canopy
and the cockpit. We've got the pilot in there. We've got instrument clusters that are really
basic, but it's enough to sell it from the distance. Okay. Some of these airplanes,
we get a lot of details that you never really notice, but I'll tell you what you do notice
is windows. Windows on a night like this with that beautiful sunset shining through,
it just makes it so glorious. If you haven't experienced one, check out the links in the
