Top competitors, including Gannon Burr, Calvin Heimburg, and the Robinson brothers, showcase high-risk, high-reward strategies and impressive long-range putts to climb the leaderboard.
Well, welcome back to the Disc Golf Network everybody. You are witnessing the debut of
doubles right here on the Disc Golf Pro Tour. It is the doubles championship presented by
Simon Line. We are just downstream from the headwaters of the mighty Mississippi,
broadcasting live from Clearwater, Minnesota. It's the preserve. You know it. You love it.
You're about to watch some of the best doubles action we've ever seen
on the Disc Golf Pro Tour. We're going to get right into the action.
It's Niklas Anttila. He's teamed up with Gavin Babcock after a bogey on 10. He's going to dunk
it. The best way to bounce back. We're going to take a look at the rules of this event now. And
reminder, this is for full elite series points. Rounds one and two, best shot. And then round
three, modified alternate shot. After the round today, Philo, the players have to determine
who will tee off on what hole. Going to make things interesting. That's for sure. A lot of
strategy going on on the third round. Got to get it done the first two days. Give yourself a chance.
Casey White has already missed his putt for birdie, I believe. And here's Matteo.
Call it 45 feet. Slight tailwind over his left shoulder. At the moment, if they get to 15,
they would have a few stroke advantage over their nearest competitor's third place.
First down for Matteo. Matteo and Casey White eagled the opening hole. They were seven under
through their first six holes. This is definitely an angle you'd like to take a stab at it. Wide
open angle. Toro's on line. Dropping just in front of the cage. That's what you like to see
from your partner right there. All right, Simon and Eagle, they're outside the circle.
Oh, and Simon's good for it. Getting this spin putt on line early. Ideal positioning. Years past,
this was almost a dead straight shot. Now they got to move it further back into the left, and
that's how it's done. It's going to be tap-in bogey, Philo. They'll be five off the pace.
Can't have bogeys out here, especially on the last hole. Rick from deep. Early raptor legs
from Wysocki. I mean, he put some ante on that out of the hand. That was probably the fairway.
Oh, yeah. That's a good 80 feet out there for Rick. Oh, right in the middle, too. You better
keep an eye on that guy. He's sending them in like that all day. Look at that shot. That gives
them a great opportunity. I don't know where Ezra is, but circle two look after that drive is
phenomenal. This is where Isaac put it. Inside 40 feet. Stay perfect. Yes. Got it. What a start for
the Robinson brothers. Two big time plays back to back for Isaac to keep the streak alive. Yachty
to open up the round. Just enough on the left side. Look, he turns right around. I got you, bro.
Come on. This is going to be fun. A little roller action for Simon. Missed that one. There it is
around the backside. Here comes. It's going to be a circle one. Look, if you look at that. 18 feet.
Come on. Crushed boys. They needed it. Simon delivered. Eagle pushing that forehand too
straight into those cedars. Distance of this hole isn't the intimidating factor. It's the narrow
features of this fairway. Simon, there you go. This should be really nice. Yeah, that's where
you like to be. Eyes on target in the sweet spot. Shot of the day so far. Yes, sir. Rasmus T of 17.
I'm telling you, he has some of the fastest speed we've seen in both spins. I've seen him in person.
Saw him before he made his debut in stateside over in Finland. He was a teenager when I saw him.
Kyle is incredible. Nearly rings it up here. He's in the bullseye.
He's already got one from the fairway. Does he get another one? Are you kidding me?
Raptor legs activated for the second time. Call it 90 feet. Look at the swing.
Buries it. That's what the people paid their money to come see.
Cannon from a similar distance. That is ice cold from the world number one. It's going to be hard
to beat these guys if they keep making these plays. Cannon burr. Hey, look at Terry Miller
in the background again. Wait for it. Bean with it. Rock with it. Look at Terry. We're
going to send it down to Terry Miller. Terry, we just saw you in the background.
Doing the usher. Just send it on home. Riding the bull happy. Send it home. Just getting in the
flow. Feeling it. That's what Cannon's doing out here. Man, they're going to put on a show all
weekend. Are you surprised to see Cannon Burr listening to the advice of his partner? It's
cool to see them having the conversation. It really is. It's almost surprising that he doesn't
have his own mind made up. This is the shot I want to throw. It seems like they're having this
conversation every tee shot. It seems to be working. Five for five. It's going to skip around the
corner. New shot of the day for me. That was to stay perfect. That was. Oh man. 25 feet. That is deflating.
That is past 45 degrees. Can it carry? Yes. Circle one. This to go 15 under.
Get one off the pace. Yes. Finishing up the round with the hat trick.
Yes. Robot chicken stepper goes home. There's a little three pack for him.
A little wider for Isaac. Isaac skips off the sidewalk. Tries to give it a run.
It's that angle you mentioned, Philo, with that mandatory. Especially with a crossing wind
blowing across the disc from left to right. Yeah, this is some math you got to do.
That's so good. Homeschool worked out. So good. That was how to do it with the nine speed.
Always going to roll it down. Love this option. Isaac Robinson bullseye. You know, it's real fun
when you get to pick your little bro up with just one shot. Isaac Robinson dropping the touch.
Roller to perfection for your one shot replay. Currently watching Gannon get himself set up.
They felt a left or right on the previous tee. And so coming in at this angle, it's going to
be a little more of a headwind for them. Gannon going with the turnover roller question. Is it
going to come out in time? And the answer is yes. It's going to circle right around.
Runs out of steam just as it gets into the bullseye. You really could not throw a better
shot here than what we just saw from Gannon. Low ceiling. Fire it flat.
There you go. Five birdies in your last six. What a function roller from Gannon Burr.
Everything right. It's a perfect front nine for Gannon Burr and Calvin Heimburg.
Jake Ebenheimer after the big hyzer to get to 15. He's got it. Tied for second place.
He's doing the little snake motion. Silas death putt straight toward the river. Yes.
There's a big putt. Straight headwind. Maybe the tiniest bit of right to left still.
The line is good. How about that? 10-4-10.
For the first time today, the Crush Boys will pick up a stroke on team Heimburg.
Burr has been sending them in this afternoon. That's three.
That gives you an idea of how much harder Rasmus sent that thing.
Here's that right-hand backhand shot. Is this feasible?
What? He throws cut roller into the wall. Has the speed. Yes. Beautiful approach.
Ripped the green light. Already made two from the fairway today. That we've seen.
Could it be another Raptor leg moments for Wysocki? This is lining up. Come on, Rick. Let's go.
Did it fall out? No, it didn't. There we go. Confirmation. Now run it down.
How about this from Rick? He's three for three from the fairway.
Bang. Creeps in over the front of the rim. He can't believe it. Yeah. This is not the easiest
get here for Cannon and Calvin. Very demanding tee shot to find yourself in position. We've seen
the look. Make it around the corner. This fade back in time. That's huge. Yeah, it is. I'm giving
the angle. That certainly will. What a shot from McMahon. Can that be an OTB contender? That was
pretty cool. Even Simon's like, huh? He sure was. Is that right, young buck? This is my job, man.
What are you doing over here? Cannon hung it out wide. Calvin's going to bring it in tighter
and it's going to skip right around circle's edge. A little bit of a curl and they'll have a putt.
They're looking for a birdie here on the difficult 15th. Teamwork, teamwork, teamwork. Excellent drive
by Burr. Sets up that approach from Calvin. Another circle one look coming up. James Conrad
alert. 2021 world champ going engine. He's fast over stable drivers this season. Conrad splashes
out for Eagle. Wow. Almost the holiest of holy shots again. Oh my goodness. How does he keep
doing this? Unbelievable. I was waiting for something exciting like this to happen today.
Every season he's pulling a miracle out. Do you remember the shot from Portland earlier this year?
He bounced out for Albatross. Great height. Hold that turn. Hold it, hold it, hold it. What a shot from
perhaps the new shot of the day. I think that might have been Simon Line bouquet. That was a
thing of beauty, Mr. Perkins. Talk about your hyzer flips. Simon Lizotte perfectly anticipates that,
drags it out, slides it in into the bullseye. Can't ask for anything else.
Nothing to lose here for Burr. Give this thing the full send. Oh yeah. Unraveled. Okay, there's
the new best driver today. Perfect angle. Ezra. Weak side to get to 14 under. Some good battling
out there from the Robinson brothers. One angle. All the space in the world. He's going to spike
it one step off the bullseye. Typically NPO players, like we see them run a lot of stuff
a lot of the time, but today we saw more attempts at throw-ins and put, you know,
ace runs and they were putting themselves in positions. That's what I love most about doubles
is like normally, you know, you're 200 feet out and you're not really going to send it if there's
OB deep or if there's rough deep, but we saw a lot of that today. I feel like that's what really
doubles brings the best of from all the players. Thank you for watching the Disc Golf Pro Tour on
