Thomas Pratt of high school and SI here with white and old head coach Victor Floyd.
Coach, one more scrimmage before the season begins. How does this team look now?
Well, we're getting better each week. This is our third time out.
We only had to get a half a scrimmage in on Monday, but we were able to get something in
and have an opportunity to get back out and get through your special teams
and hit every phase of the game was big for us tonight.
You look at some of the guys you that have been playing different positions like a contrail.
He was a backup quarterback now tied in making plays.
Then you have a new starting quarterback.
How do you think those transitions with this team, the changes you've made work so far?
Well, it's been good so far. Everybody's kind of took ownership in their position,
their role on the team right now, and it's been a smooth transition.
Everybody's kind of pulling for each other. So it's been good.
And notice from the back of your shirt, you have the white Norway, so to speak.
How close to these guys are to following that?
We're getting in line. We're getting in line. I think we're getting a little closer week to week.
And I know a performance like this, I mean, I know you don't pay attention too much to the rankings,
but it seemed like a lot of people sort of like what they're seeing so far.
They actually put you pretty high, even close to some, even in the top ten rankings.
Well, you know, the preseason stuff's kind of in vain, you know,
because teams grow and teams have to rebuild from year to year.
So some of that preseason stuff's a little bit of hype.
I don't know that we're in that position, but we're getting better week to week.
And just going into the opener with A.C. Floyd, what's going to be the key?
Well, like I said, 18 starters playing their first football game, you know, first varsity game.
We've got 18 kids. This will be the first actual football game that we're starting.
So, again, first game jitters. We just want to get through it and minimize the mistakes and have success.
