Hey guys my name is Rachel. I found out I was pregnant at the age of 22 years old with my baby boy Troy. After graduating I decided to become a stay at home mom while capturing all of the moments of watching little man grow.
Rachel shares a variety of budget-friendly finds from a recent trip to a thrift store. Although she originally sought maternity clothes and a walker for her son, Troy, she ended up with a collection of affordable dresses, educational toys, children's books, and several motivational and financial books for herself and her partner, EJ.
Hey guys, it's Rachel.
Before I do my hair, I wanted to do a quick thrift haul.
Yesterday I went, I vlogged it all, I was going to incorporate it in the vlog, but Troy
was so fussy.
Not only was he fussy, but I thought, you know what, incorporating the thrift haul into
the video, it'll make it super long.
So I decided to go ahead and separate it.
I got some good stuff, but I really went there originally for maternity clothes, I also went
there to find a walker for Troy, and I really wanted some wall decor, but it's okay, sometimes
you go to thrift stores and you get stuff completely different than what you anticipated
on.
All this stuff was half off, so I'm really excited about it.
Let's just go ahead and jump into the video.
Alright, so I'm going to start off with some clothes that I got, I only got two pieces.
The first item I got is actually for a video that I'm going to be doing for the main channel.
It is this olive dress, it has some detail up here, and it's mid-length.
I'm going to be honest, it's not really my style, like I said, I got this specifically
for the video.
However, now that I have it, I will be wearing it just around the house, probably just to
run some errands really quick.
It looks like it's a little loose around the chest, so I'm going to try to make it work,
but for $3, why not, right?
So it's really nice, looks comfortable, and I hate wearing pants, and I can't fit them
anyways, so I've been only trying to wear dresses when I go out.
I have this maxi dress that I'm going to add to my collection as well.
I really like this, it's super simple, basic, you just throw it on and go out the door.
This was $2, so I'm really happy that I found this, I wish I found more.
This is how the top looks, so just simple, you can just wear it with hoops, throw on
a little necklace or something, and call it a day.
Alright, so for Troy, I got him this little, I would say barn, but it's not a barn, it's
just a little house, and you throw in the shapes, you try to fit the shapes here, you
try to fit the shapes here, and back here.
All the pieces are inside, it pretty much looks brand new, and this was $2, so I was
really happy to see this, because I've been wanting something like this for him, where
we can practice, you know, putting things where they need to go.
So again, $2, and I'm going to mention this in a whole other video, but I thought I'd
mention it here as well, I was sent this UV LED portable sterilizer, so pretty much what
you do is, let me go ahead and take it out for you guys, it looks like this, and you
just turn it on, you put this up, like so, let me go ahead and do that for you, the light
shines, and you can't put it up to your eyes, because if you do, you will definitely go
blind or hurt yourself, but it is safety proof, so you have to point it a certain way for
it to turn on, otherwise it won't turn on, or it'll pause if it is on already, but you
just go ahead and you'll scan it like this, and it's so cool, it kills all the germs,
so that's really, really exciting, and it makes me feel a little better about getting
little toys for him, because you know, when another child has it, obviously germs, and
then you pass it on to another child, more germs, you know they put things in their mouth,
so I'm going to be definitely cleaning the germs with this, and then also of course using
Wyso and water, but for the most part, this is where it's at, I'll leave all the information
down below, again, I'll have another video on it where I talk in more detail, it's a
really, really cool item you guys, I've been loving it, I just started using it recently
a lot, and putting it in my diaper bag, that way when I go places with him, I can just
like scan the germs off, super convenient, and I've never heard of it until they reached
out to me, so thank you so much, but yeah, so I got this for him, $2, I thought that
was a really good deal, I also got him a set of books, these all came together in one in
this plastic bag, and it was $4, but yesterday I think it was on sale as well, so it was
$2, and I got, how many books came in, 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 books, so it's a collection, the
same books, this one is called The Lost Key, Fun with Colors and Shapes, Circus of Sizes,
this is how they look, Yolanda All Year Round, Seaside Pals, and The Small Cut, so I love
hardcover books, because he's at that stage, he's putting everything in his mouth, and
he tends to try to like rip things, and with these, he won't rip them, these practically
are in like, I wouldn't say brand new, but they're in really good condition, they have
a little usage out of it, but that's okay, I really, really, really am so happy that
I found these, because I love to read hardcover books to him, and I just started re-reading
to him, because I actually paused for a little bit, just because his attention span was really
short, so he wouldn't even let me get past the first page, but now he sits through it
a lot, a little longer, so, I'm excited to introduce Troy to the collection of books,
I also got him this circus little piece, actually this is for him and his sister, this is for
their room in general, I wanted something bold with colors, and I thought this was really,
really nice, I think this is hand painted if I'm not mistaken, but it's so gorgeous,
I think it's a cookie jar as well, because you can take the lid off, I'm not going to
use it for any sweets though, I'm going to use it for small toy pieces, and you know,
miscellaneous little toy parts, and throw it in there, so I thought this was really
nice, and it's going to fit his room just well, because right now the room is neutral,
so we need some color, this will look really, really nice. Alright, so EJ and I wrapped
up on books, we love to read, more me, I love reading you guys, love it, love it, love it,
love it, love it, and right now I'm in this reading stage where I want a lot of motivational
books, and EJ wants a lot of motivational books as well, that has to do with finances,
so that's what we were on a hunt for. So, the number one book that I found is called
The Secret, this used to be on Netflix, the actual documentary, oh my goodness, this is
amazing, this is just a book about the secret to being successful in life, it talks about
a lot of things, positivity, and how to get what you want pretty much, this is brand new
you guys, brand new, like there's no, I mean it looks like it hasn't even been cracked
open brand new, smells good, everything like that, so I got this book for a dollar, and
it goes for $24, so I'm really excited to read this and highlight, and that's a book
that I'm not giving away. This book I'm also never going to give away, this is called Your
Best Life Now for Moms, and this is by Joel Osteen, Joel Osteen is my favorite, favorite,
favorite Christian motivational speaker, I love watching him, I watch his YouTube videos,
well his sermons and everything, so the fact that I found this, and it says for moms, I
think it was meant for me, $1, and never been, I mean if it has been used, I can't tell because
there's no markings, there's, I mean brand spanking new, like nobody's read this, so
I'm excited to get into that as well. This one I was kind of hesitant to buy, but I thought
you know what, let me buy it, and I'm happy I did, it's called Power Thoughts Devotional,
so this is 365 Daily Inspirations for Winning the Battle of the Mind by Joyce Meyer, I think
I've heard of her, but anyways, so I'm sure you guys have heard of this, you just go to
the date, today's date, I think it's the 19th, I don't even know anymore, I think it's the
19th, but let's just say it's the 20th, for like to speed this video up, so you go on
May 20th, you just read the passage for then, and then that's that, and then the next day
you have something to read, and I thought this was really really cool, so I'm happy
to have this because I really need to get in more of a positive mindset like I used
to be in, this was $17 originally, I paid a dollar, all these books were a dollar, this
is EJ's book, he picked it out for himself, this is The Blessed Life, and it's a best
seller, and it's just about getting through economic times, like I said, EJ's more into
the financial books, and I'm more into the motivational, positivity books, so this is
just how to get through, I think, yeah, just how to become successful through financial
crisis, I think that's what it's about, and then he also got this one, this one is Start
Late, Finish Rich, so no failed plan for achieving financial freedom at any rate, so it says
you're never too late to be rich, this was $25 originally, this looks brand snaking new
as well, I got it for a dollar, this book I picked out for me, and this is T.D.
Jake's, EJ was trying to talk me out of getting it, I don't know why, but it's called Reposition
Yourself, Living Life Without Limits, I watched one of his videos on YouTube before, and ever
since that one video I watched of his, I fell in love with his speeches, so I got this,
and this is just about changing the way of your life, if you don't like the way your
life is going, change it pretty much, so I'm sure there's more detail of course with it,
and I'm excited to get into it, this was originally $24, and then the last book is for selling
purposes, we found this Huckleberry Finn book by Mark Twain, and EJ actually found it, he said
it looked really really antique-ish, so we looked it up to see how much it's worth, and of course
it's worth over $100, so we definitely want to sell this, if we can get at least $30 out of it,
we'll be excited, because we only paid a dollar for it, so if you're interested, hit me up,
but yeah, this is The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, the Tom Sawyer's companion, and look at
this bad boy, looks antique-ish in everything, there's no price, there's no markings, it looks,
I mean there's a little mark on it, so you could tell that, sorry, so it's been red,
but really good condition for an antique, so we're gonna, sorry, oh my gosh,
I don't know where that came from, we're gonna go ahead and sell that,
it almost feels like I swallowed something, like a bug, but anyways, hopefully not, I hope you guys
enjoyed this quick video, I'm gonna go ahead and wash my hair, because it needs to be done again,
so until next time, I'll see you later, and let me know what was your favorite item that I showed
you guys. Bye!
