AI GeneratedThe Philadelphia Bookstore Crawl is an annual end-of-summer event encouraging residents and visitors to explore the city's diverse independent bookstores. Through sales, signings, and giveaways, the event celebrates local literary culture and emphasizes the importance of supporting independent businesses to ensure these community spaces thrive year-round.
I just love being able to come out and support all these indie bookshops
here on the Philly Book Crawl and I'm in Chestnut Hill currently at Multiverse.
This is only my second stop and I'm going to head over into Manioc and then maybe go
into the heart of the city. We'll see where the day takes me.
The Philadelphia Bookstore Crawl is a one-day event that we throw at the end of every summer
where we encourage people to visit as many indie bookstores as they can.
Some are having sales, some are having author signings, some are doing big giveaways.
Everyone does something special.
The discounted is $17.28.
Enjoy your crawl.
All right, thank you.
We have these mystery giveaways for free. We have horror, fantasy, and sci-fi.
This is a great way to find out that there are so many amazing writers in this town
and you can find out all about them here.
We are the Head in the Hand Books here in the heart of Fishtown.
I feel like the Philly Bookstore Crawl is our way of coming together and saying
independent bookstores and independent thought really matters here in Philadelphia.
I am a big book nerd so just the idea that like a city is celebrating
books and bookstores just delights me so much.
I'm the owner of Midsummer Books, one of the stores here in our mutual friend in Fishtown.
Our mutual friends who are a collective actually of three stores, it's myself
and I do like the youth books, then we have Gus and Ruby Resale,
Kids Resale Clothes and Gifts, and then we have Fingerprint Books.
Mad Mabel is our book club pick for October.
I feel like the Odyssey with the movie coming out definitely has been huge.
I was selling books out front of my house just for fun and Lindsay sort of was doing the same thing
and she invited me to be a part of this collaborative.
A lot of kids have been into the mythology as well.
Yeah, the book culture in Philadelphia is awesome.
People are really interested in like the new hot book,
the used book and the backlist and finding a great find.
So it's sort of like a treasure hunt here that I think people really enjoy.
This is year four.
My wife and I lived in Richmond, Virginia and Ann Arbor, Michigan.
They had book crawls and they were amazing and I said to myself if I ever come home,
we're going to do it here to remind people that we have these amazing spaces
all around the city and if we want to keep them, we got to go to them.
So while the bookstore crawl is a one-day only event,
these stores are open all year round.
