Four people were rushed to the hospital Thursday night after suffering carbon monoxide poisoning at a home in Bucks County.
Four people and several pets are being treated after they
suffered carbon monoxide poisoning in Feasterville, Bucks County.
Action News reporter Sharifa Jackson is live at the fire station
this morning that responded to the home on the Philmont Avenue,
that home on Philmont Avenue, Sharifa.
We've got exclusive new information this morning.
Yeah, good morning, Aliana. We spoke to the fire chief not long ago.
He says this family of four, they are very lucky to be alive.
He says if they would have responded any later, this would have
been a totally different situation, a quite deadly situation possibly.
Now, while everyone is still hospitalized,
they are said to be in good, stable condition at this point.
But we'll take you to some video from last night.
This all happened around 8 p.m. That's when
the Feasterville Fire Company dispatched to that Philmont Avenue home.
This was between Busselton Pike and Street Roll.
Now, at that point, the carbon monoxide detector,
It was already alarming. Firefighters, they had to work quick.
Now, four people were transported
for extreme carbon monoxide poisoning.
One, including, was a child transported to CHOP by medical helicopter.
Now, we're told several pets, they were also impacted.
Firefighters say the CO level was detected
was at 1,300 parts per million.
That's considered an immediate,
life-threatening emergency in lethal amount.
Symptoms can include headache, nausea,
and dizziness after 20 minutes of exposure
and loss of consciousness after one hour.
In this case, we're learning a generator
in the back of the home was the source.
Again, officials say dangerous levels were detected inside the home.
It took them any longer to respond.
The situation could have turned out a lot different.
One of the residents inside the house called.
Somebody was having an emergency inside the house,
he called and by the time the medic
got there, which was pretty fast, he was outside,
not well, and then the people inside were
unconscious.
The medics did a great job going
in and grabbing them real fast and getting them out.
They really helped them out a lot by getting them out of that house.
Very dangerous environment to be in.
Now officials, they are warning people if you're using a generator,
make sure it's a proper distance away from your home.
They say it cannot be close to your home.
Again, carbon monoxide is a silent and deadly killer. Now in this case,
the township, they're now involved with securing the property.
It's likely the family, they won't be allowed back.
We're live in Feasterville this morning.
Sharifa Jackson, Channel 6 Action News. Matt.
For that reason, to have a smoke detector
