It was a rough journey because we broke down twice, we nearly starved to death and in the end the enviable happened.
Today we left of early to start the adventure in Lime Regis, but what was install for us wasn't expected. We had to call the AA out, after they got us going the noise continued down the road but we were so determined to carry on. When we finally arrived, the tide was at its lowest point, and we were advised not to go in because the bank was very muddy and sun had already turned golden and was on course to exhibiting a spectacular sunset.
Lime Regis was stacked with tourists and getting food was proving very difficult so after taking a walk around the Harbour Wall, we headed inland on our way out the car started to give us problems again, but this time it was worse. We had no choice but to stop.

A couple travels to Lyme Regis along the Jurassic Coast, supporting local farmers and businesses. Their trip is marked by a mechanical failure involving binding brakes, which requires assistance from the AA. After repairs, they explore the harbor and scenic coastline before heading back to Weymouth, planning further vehicle maintenance to ensure reliability for future trips.
A lot of people have stuff outside their doors, so we just need to make and we're just, yeah.
And pay for it of course. Of course, yeah.
But we're supporting the local economy. Yeah.
And local people, so, erm.
There we are.
Wow, fresh eggs here.
Imagine if we came back and they were finished. Yeah.
Right, so, I'm going to jump out and go and grab some eggs.
Yep.
We need some anyway, so rather than going to Tesco's or Asda, I might as well go to the local farmer and get some from there.
Yep.
Right, so, this is the kind of thing you see quite often when you're in areas in the countryside.
Erm, you see little stalls like this at the side.
Erm, and erm.
I know, you saw that as well. What?
The co-op.
Oh no, they've reused.
They've reused, erm, they are fresh, they're quite big eggs as well.
Yeah, they are massive.
So, we're going to buy these, we want one or two.
Two, how much are they?
Yeah, we'll buy 150 each.
Oh, okay, cool.
Yeah, but they are big eggs though.
That's massive, yeah.
Are these eggs or are they dinosaur eggs?
So, you've got, erm.
We've got an honesty box there.
Hold your box and put money in.
Yeah.
So, that's three pounds.
Have I got three pounds?
I think I have.
Should do.
Please don't say you ain't.
I have.
I've got three pounds.
Cool.
There you go.
In the honesty box.
Yep.
Which is just on there.
You put them in there like that.
It exhausts the best dispensing machine you can ever have.
And also.
You know when you go to a supermarket and you've got yourself checkouts?
Yeah.
That is it.
They've been doing this for centuries.
That's true.
It's nothing new.
They've been doing this for centuries, for years.
And we still go to supermarkets when you've got.
It is a trust issue.
Yeah.
Because that is food.
And obviously times are hard.
But centuries for day one.
Support your farmers.
And get your fresh eggs.
Anyway.
We've got a journey to do.
Let's carry on.
You alright?
Yeah.
I can hear it squeaking.
I don't know what's that.
I know.
It sounds like this one.
We haven't got a jack have we?
No.
Erm.
I don't hear it.
Yeah.
Always.
Right.
As you can see we are broken down.
And we're still.
Elaine doesn't look impressed.
We've broken down.
On our way to Lyme Regis.
So.
We're waiting for the AA.
AA?
Who are we with?
AA.
Right.
It's the first time we've used the AA for this.
Second.
There should be many more.
So.
The second time we've used AA.
Call out now.
And the first time they were fantastic.
We're waiting for them to come back to sort this vehicle out.
Hopefully.
The AA.
Erm.
Technician.
Erm.
Will be able to.
Erm.
About now.
Have a look at it for us.
Because they're quite good like that.
We've got some issues.
With.
The car.
Again.
Erm.
We've heard massive squeaking coming from the wheel.
Not really sure what's happening.
Not sure if some water's got in between.
But it's just started making some really loud squeaking noise.
And.
Oh my god.
It's a nightmare.
Okay.
So we're going to try and figure this out.
Chris is just outside now.
Just having a look and seeing what's.
What's happening.
Erm.
But yeah.
We're going to.
Hopefully.
Figure it out.
And.
See.
See how we go.
Alright.
I'll keep you posted on the developments.
Right.
So.
Guys.
We.
I've just got off the phone to the AA.
Literally had to call them.
Because the car.
Well.
We don't really want to drive it anymore.
Because we don't want to cause any more damage.
Not the wheel.
Or the hub.
Or anything to overheat.
So.
Erm.
We've called the AA.
And.
Hopefully.
They'll be with us.
Er.
In about half an hour.
Hopefully.
They'll be able to sort the problem out.
Because.
You know.
It's a nice.
Sunny day.
And.
We want to get down.
To.
Lime Regis.
But anyway.
It's cool.
We're going to keep.
In good spirit.
In good faith.
And.
Erm.
Hope that we can.
Carry on our journey.
Today.
So.
I'll keep you guys posted.
When the AA comes.
Of course.
Erm.
We'll be back with you.
And.
Show you what's happening.
But.
Erm.
Yeah.
It's just going to be a waiting game for us now.
For about 45 minutes.
Absolutely beautiful day.
And.
We're stuck.
Next to.
You can see the sea over here.
Look.
Go on then.
It's just there.
Yeah.
We're.
We're at a military base.
And this road broken down.
It says there.
The land is owned by the MOD.
On all thrice parking of vehicles.
And dumping is prohibited.
I think it's a firing range.
I think.
So erm.
Yeah.
Just waiting for.
Waiting for the AA guy to come now.
So close to Lime Regis.
And erm.
This happens.
But let's see.
Oh it's coming.
There he is.
Oh.
Right he's here just going past.
Sorry I don't know if it's just.
I'm coming in.
It's fine.
I came to you and he came.
And I thought.
I don't know what we know.
Just came to see his walk by.
Yeah.
I think that's what his posse is.
Because it seems to be this way isn't it?
It seems to be that way yeah.
It's definitely.
But it's literally coming now.
The AA seems to, we're going to protest it.
Yeah, we think it was just the brakes binding right, just binding on, so hopefully, hopefully
we've sorted it.
And then we'll be back on our way.
I'm saying that though, I'm still going to strip down and get back and just check it
again.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
And do both sides, just to make sure they're both, um, yeah, make sure they're both, um,
yeah, good.
That's it.
It's weird, I've never used one of them on a car in my life, personally, but on a company
you've got to do it.
For legal reasons.
Does it make it like super tight?
No, it just tight, sets the torque to the right setting.
It doesn't over tighten it.
Yeah.
Oh, okay.
Normally you've got to feel for it, but as a company you've got to do it properly for
some people want to.
Yeah.
Oh, it didn't tighten it properly.
Right, I see.
Well, I'm old school.
Give it a drive then, see what happens.
Do I just go around the block?
Yeah.
All right, I know.
I'll back in a second.
Okay, I'm going to take it for a drive and see what happens.
I think he's going to explain how to catch a ferry.
I'm saying stuff.
I know.
Let's see.
It's definitely a little better.
It's definitely doing, it's definitely doing what it was doing the minute I got in the
way.
Look, I've got the rodents in the back.
Yeah.
Right, here we go.
Big test.
Don't touch the handbrake until I get home.
I don't want to get home today.
I want to do what we're doing.
Yeah.
Speed cameras everywhere.
Yeah.
Oh, yeah.
Don't want to do that.
After all that, I didn't get a ticket.
Oh, my God.
We cheesed off.
Yeah, it's definitely sorted.
It's definitely a break behind the view.
Okay.
Do you need to have a chat with the guys then and see?
I won't say who, but do you need to have a chat about it?
I think just more.
All right.
I want the handbrake.
No.
I don't see it.
I'll do what he did.
He's taken off and cleaned it up.
Yeah.
And then try and look at the other one.
Yeah.
See if it wasn't working.
No.
No, I don't remember it stopped working properly.
Oh, right.
I'm going to put the handbrake on.
That's probably what I was sticking the whole day.
Right.
Remember?
When it was there.
Yeah, I was trying to move it.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Carry on our journey, hopefully.
This car never ceases to amaze us.
It's doing it.
Yeah.
It seems to have killed it.
Yeah.
It's not going, mm, mm, mm, mm.
Yeah, I'll see.
It's not going, mm, mm, mm, mm.
Yeah.
Slow drive.
Yeah.
I'm not going to use the handbrake.
I've got a feeling the handbrake's sticking.
Yeah, I think it probably was.
Yeah.
And then have it all apart again.
Yeah.
I think it's rather than having it again.
But I'll just put it on anyway.
Yeah, but I'm not going to use the handbrake.
Excellent.
Lovely.
Cool.
Brilliant.
Lovely.
Nice to meet you.
You too.
Yeah, I appreciate it.
Thank you.
You too.
Thank you very much.
Thank you.
That's all right.
Yeah.
Right.
We're all good.
We seem to be on.
Thank you very much again.
To the AA.
To the AA and the gentleman that helped us.
I didn't even get his name.
I wouldn't have asked his name.
Right.
So Chris has kindly helped Chris out in the lane.
Yeah.
And the family.
The other Chris pulled me over.
And there's another Chris somewhere involved.
There's probably another Chris later on.
And now we're here and Christmas has gone.
I know.
And we're back on the road.
So.
Oh my God.
Right.
I think it's the brake pads that are binding.
Yeah.
It does go in the water.
So salt water is not a friend of anything to this car.
No.
So it spends all its life keeping water out of it.
Unfortunately, the running gear is under the water line and it's just what it is.
Yeah.
And the brake pads at the back are the hardest ones to service because they're in the drum.
Yeah.
So it's just time.
It's not hard.
It's just time to strip it down and put it back together.
I'm going to have to be more on that now.
Yeah.
I'm going to have to spend more time.
Definitely.
Especially if you're going to salt water.
Oh, I wish we were going to be doing a lot soon.
Yeah.
So.
I'll.
Yeah.
I'm just going to put it back in the road.
Should I just hear that sound again?
You know how it speeds or something.
Oh, yeah.
How we speed, yeah.
Oh, right.
We are continuing to line me just.
Yeah.
The sound still happens.
It's still making noises.
It is still making noises.
But as we do, we continue.
We think it's rubber.
We think it's a rubber that's kind of changing.
It should be.
It should be OK.
But we are nearly there.
Yeah.
More bait for the crabs, eh?
Yeah.
All right, guys.
We've reached Lime.
Lime Regis.
Yeah.
We're at the main harbour.
Yeah.
There's a slipway.
It's very tidal, though.
We've been told.
Very tidal, yeah.
So, today.
Actually, it's not tidal.
You can see the dog running across it.
Oh, no.
I was just thinking that.
I thought, is that a dog?
Is that a floating dog, or?
Oh, I don't know.
The dog running across it.
That's very tidal.
Yeah.
I thought that was deep water there.
All right.
Yeah.
So, we've made it.
The car's doing OK at the moment.
Yep.
It's getting on.
It's going to be the...
That's going to be the thing.
When it gets us home.
Oh, my God.
And I'll have to do some maintenance service on it at some point.
Yeah.
But Lime Regis is very busy.
It's very, very busy.
It is.
Yeah.
There's a lot of people.
Yeah.
So, we are at the harbour.
Yep.
The sun hasn't gone down, which is brilliant.
It's like, what?
Three o'clock at the moment?
I've got no clue.
We've got down there later than what we were supposed to because of what's happened.
Yep.
But, we are here.
Yeah.
We're here.
So, down there, you can see, that way, is the harbour slipway.
Probably going to have a quick look in a minute.
Yeah.
We'll go run down there real quick and see what's going on.
Yeah.
And have a look.
Yep.
And show you guys.
Yeah.
Walk round all the coral back round there.
I'm right here for a few minutes.
Oh, we're right here for a minute?
That's it.
That's the old agey coral balls round there.
You walk round, you see the whole...
Oh, brilliant.
Alright.
Oh, brilliant.
Thank you.
Yep.
So, we're going to quickly go for a quick walk around the harbour.
Yep.
And, yeah.
And then come back.
Yep.
Alright.
We'll do it.
So, will it be okay?
Do you think?
Yeah.
It's like a big bank holiday, it's hidden, no one's really working.
We can grab the kids out then and take them too.
Oh, wow.
You like it?
Yeah.
Lime-red disguise, it's proper nice.
Yep.
We're walking along this dodgy ridge.
You do not drop anything that can rattle.
Exactly.
Even including the kids.
Everything will go sliding down.
I don't want to look off the edge just in case I lose my balance.
See everyone staying away from the edge?
Oh, brilliant.
Yeah.
You see the way it's smashed up here, look.
Oh, no.
It's not recently, is it?
That's today.
It's funny how, you know when you're going past someone?
Yeah.
They're going on the inside of you.
Yeah, no.
So, we are at Lime Ridge Slipway.
We can't really go in today because, number one, the tide's out.
It's very muddy, apparently.
It's very, very shallow.
Yeah.
I can see dogs literally.
That looks like a lot of water.
But I've just seen a dog literally run across that.
So, it's clearly not actually that deep.
Yeah, no.
So, yeah.
So, we're done.
It's lovely.
All the fishing boats are getting ready.
Yeah.
To go back out.
Yeah.
After New Year's, they're all quickly trying to get their boats.
Like I said, support the fishermen.
Yeah.
They're important.
Yeah.
Keep them going.
Definitely.
And also, our local businesses in the area.
Yeah.
So, we're going to quickly grab some fish and chips, or some chips, for the kids mainly.
And have a little scoot around the little harbour.
I wish we could have a scoot around the harbour.
I know.
The tide's out.
It's lovely though.
It's gorgeous.
It is.
So, we'll come back down here and play around at some point.
Definitely.
Yeah.
Right.
So, should we grab the food and then say bye?
Are we going to say bye now?
We'll grab the food.
Yeah.
And then we'll say adios.
Adios.
Well, I'm Regis.
Yeah.
We're probably going to leave you guys here now.
Went to get some food and the queue's just like there for an hour.
Yeah.
It's just, yeah.
So, we're going to head back and stop somewhere on the way.
Yeah.
And grab something instead.
So, we will thank you for joining us on the journey, of course.
We will see you at our next destination.
Not sure where that's going to be yet.
But, for now, the sunset's amazing.
We've shown you the harbour.
We probably will carry on the journey.
Well, we will be carrying on the journey to Ireland.
Probably.
Yeah.
We'll try and have a look at this problem issue to see what's going on.
Yeah.
Probably, I don't know when.
Yeah.
Not sure what's going on with this rubber squeaky issue.
But, I don't know.
It's what it is.
So, yeah.
So, as I said, thanks for joining us.
Like, subscribe.
Like.
Like, subscribe.
Yeah.
Comment, as usual.
And, of course, we will be taking a few of you guys out with us.
Yeah.
This year.
Now we are in the new year.
Yeah.
I can say next year.
Yeah.
So, we'll speak to you soon.
We're going to grab some food and then see you later.
You sound unsure.
Yeah, because I don't really want to go.
I want to stay here.
See you later.
Keep it rolling.
Yeah, I know.
I don't really want to go.
Every time I have the...
You think, well, no, I don't really want to go.
Yeah, I know.
So, yeah.
Right, okay.
See you later.
I don't know.
Just subscribe.
Out from Book Car Adventures.
So, we are on our way back.
And, yeah.
The key's breaking now.
So, hence my not so sureness earlier when I didn't really know whether we were going
to be saying goodbye for goodbye or goodbye, we'll see you soon.
Oh my God.
The view's lovely though.
Show them the view.
Look at that.
Right, so, I'm just giving the car a break.
It's starting to make a bit of noise.
It feels definitely, definitely, speak properly, there's something wrong with the rear.
The brakes are working fine, but there's something just not right with, I don't know, car's great.
Something's holding on or, I don't know, and it goes normal again.
Yeah.
Well, it's not the actual braking system, so that's working fine.
It's weird.
So, it's going to be, yeah, stripped down and check out and see what's going on because
it's not normal.
No, it's not.
The sounds it's making every now and again, it's just not normal.
Not normal.
We're just making our way back to Weymouth.
I can see Weymouth in the distance.
Yeah.
We still haven't got food, by the way.
I know.
It's just, gosh.
We don't want to be stuck out here at night.
No.
Oh, dear.
I'm tired.
Yeah, right, so, we're going to make our, I'm going to give it another minute or so
then.
Yeah.
Carry on down the hill, straight in the middle of nowhere, going along the Jurassic Coast
Jurassic Coast road.
Chidwick Road.
No, I think it's Chidwick Coast.
Breakdown road right now.
Definitely is a breakdown road for us at the minute.
Yeah.
But, yeah, it's what it is.
It's part of that adventure at the end of the day.
Oh, dear.
But, yeah, we're on that B3157 road.
Yeah.
Oh, it's actually Abbotsbury Hill.
Abbotsbury Hill.
Abbotsbury Hill, yeah.
Abbotsbury Hill.
Don't.
So, yeah.
So, anyway, we are going to attempt to get our way back home, make our way back home.
Without using the AA again.
Yeah, without having to call them again.
Yeah.
And then, yeah, this week, as I was just saying to Chris, it is just going to be a week off
sorting a problem.
Stuff out.
Yeah.
Sorting out these issues with this car because, you know, we need it to be reliable.
This year we've got a lot planned, so we definitely need reliability for those plans.
100%.
Definitely.
A thousand percent.
Yeah.
Ah.
Right.
OK.
So, we will show you guys the sunset again and then we are going to go and find some
food, hopefully, and then make our way home.
Obviously, if anything happens, we will catch back up with you.
You'll be seeing what's cracking.
Yeah.
But until then, we'll show you the sunset and then we're off.
Have a good one.
Broken down, OK?
