I've run my whole calendar on TidyCal for years and last week I found out I've been using about half of it. The half I skipped is the half that makes money.
TidyCal was a one-time $29 deal on AppSumo. Before that I paid Calendly $10 a month, so over seven years that's $840 I didn't spend. But my dashboard said $0 in earnings, and that stopped me. Not because TidyCal doesn't work. Because I never flipped the switch that lets people pay to book me.
You can charge for a call. You can sell a bundle of sessions or a monthly subscription. I get asked for calls constantly and I've been giving them away free this whole time.
So in this one I turn it on. Paid bookings, booking types, availability, and the extras I'd actually use. Then my honest take on where Calendly is still the better buy, because for some of you it is.
If you're side-hustling and already giving away your time on calls, this one's for you.
The deal is $29 one time, no subscription, and AppSumo refunds it for 60 days if it's not for you.

The speaker shares their long-term experience using TidyCal, a scheduling tool acquired via AppSumo. After years of using it for basic booking, they discovered underutilized features that allow users to monetize their calendar through paid calls and subscriptions, offering a cost-effective alternative to monthly subscriptions like Calendly for solopreneurs and consultants.
So I've been running my entire booking calendar on this software called TidyCal and I've been
doing it for for years. Every podcast, every client call, every time my editor needs me,
even personal meetings I run through there. And I just found out that I have been using
maybe half of it. It has a ton of features I didn't even know existed and this other half
is the half that actually makes money from my calendar link and I never even turned it on.
So I'm gonna turn it on right now on calendar and see how long this actually takes.
So this is TidyCal. It's a scheduling tool so somebody picks a slot, it lands on my calendar,
it finds availability, I can set what hours that I want it to be available and what days.
Like I make Mondays and Fridays or catch-up days so no one can schedule meetings with me on those
days. But I bought it once as an AppSumo deal years ago. So not a subscription but a one-time
payment. I was using Calendly before that but was paying monthly for Calendly and you guys
know you pay a lot of stuff monthly and it's pretty crazy when you look at subscriptions
and just I'm subscribed to this, this, this and this. So what I found, you can do a one-time
payment on AppSumo for TidyCal. I was all over it and I've been using it for years.
And that was pretty much the reason that I switched as I was using Calendly. Their free
version didn't have enough for me so I was paying 10 bucks a month. Which doesn't sound like a lot
but again when you've been doing this for six, seven years, what's seven times 12 times 10?
840. So I make a one-time payment for TidyCal and it saves me that 840 dollars that I would have
spent in this Calendly subscription all these years. So but this is my real account, not a
demo account. I have my bookings, my page views, my conversion rate on bookings. And then there's
this one, zero dollars in earnings. And that caused me to pause for a little bit. What does
this mean, earnings? What I realized, I didn't really know this at the time, is that you can
have a booking type where you actually charge for people to get on a call with you. And I get asked
this a lot. Like people just want, you know, 30 minutes to talk over a business idea or an AI tool
or something like that. And usually I have just done it for free but it does take a lot of times.
A lot of times I turn people away and I didn't realize that I could be charging for these one-on-one
calls. So I also could be charging a subscription to like $25 per month for four bookings per month.
I didn't even know this was an option. I just missed it. So and if you go down here to integrations,
you can either connect with Stripe or you can just put your PayPal email in here, which I will
probably do that. Save PayPal email. So that's basically it. That's what I've been putting off
for years. Probably could have been an income stream in and of itself. So what I really like
about TidyCal is you can set up different booking types. So depending on what type of meeting you
want, like usually I send people just this 10-minute meeting because even if we go over 10 minutes, I
want to keep people's expectations. I usually have five or six meetings a day. So I just I can't let
them spread out too long. So I usually send this 10-minute one. But you know, if there's something
more important or that's going to take longer to discuss, then I can send this 30-minute one.
So I can have all these different booking types that each get their own URL. And when you pull
up the URL, it pulls up my actual calendar and my actual availability. And like this week,
Thursday is the only time that this 45-minute would work. Going into September, we've got a
few more slots here. But it just takes it off my brain. Like people say, hey, when works for you
to do a call? My calendar is pretty crazy. So it's really nice to just be able to send them a link,
know it's integrated with my calendar, and know if it fits on that calendar, you can go ahead and
book it. But they have all these different booking types. So you can do a one-on-one. That's just
normal. You can have a group where it's me and several people. You can have a recurring meeting
through here, a bundle of sessions that you sell together, or the subscription where each month
you're charging for a certain number of meetings or calls. So this is perfect if you want just a
simple coaching program or a group program or a consulting business or something like that.
This is a great way to set up that business without complicated software and with very little
cost involved. And like I said, you can set your availability. So I turn Saturday and Sunday off,
and then I do Monday 8 to 5. But then on my calendar, I actually block off Monday and Friday
as catch up after the weekend and catch up before the weekend. So pretty much Tuesday, Wednesday,
Thursday are when all my calls are limited to. But you can set the time. You can set
certain dates that you want to override for. Like, hey, I don't want any calls next week.
You can set that up. So here on the subscriptions page, this is where you could set up one session
a month for $75. That would be great for a consultant or something like that. And it'll
keep track of your subscribers and your monthly revenue. I mean, this tool in and of itself could
be where you manage that business. You can set up coupons. So if you want to give a discount,
for people setting up calls, then they have automatic emails that go up to remind people
of the call. And you can set up whatever cadence that you want, like a thank you afterwards, or
hey, maybe, are you ready to book another call? You can do that afterwards as well.
And then you can get testimonials. So you can get a review link, and people can actually leave a
review on you that you could use as a testimonial to sell this going forward. But by far, the best
feature is that this is on AppSumo. So again, instead of paying Calendly $10 a month, or you
might even need the bigger plans, you can come on AppSumo and $29. It's not $29 per month. What I
love about AppSumo, $29 for lifetime access, refundable up to 60 days. But you just pay that
one time, and then you get access. And again, I've been using it for years. So straight review of
TidyCal. Is it the most powerful scheduling tool on earth? No. I think if you have a super big
company, Calendly has more surface area. If you're running a 50-person sales team with routing rules
and things like that, maybe Calendly might be worth paying for. But for me especially, I'm one
person. I need people to book with me. Now I know that people can pay to book with me. This does
both of those things. I paid one time years ago, have access forever, takes off my monthly
subscription budget, which is just all the time going up and up and up. So I will leave a link to
this AppSumo deal for TidyCal. But again, check out the other stuff that AppSumo has. I love
AppSumo. I check it almost every day just to see if there's something there. Because again,
make these one-time payments, get access to software for life. I love it. So all links down
