Here is a closer look at some restaurants that I ate at while in El Paso, Texas. The first stop
was Chico's Tacos. They are famous for their rolled tacos. I had to stop here because this
is a staple. I wanted to try the taco on its own. It was very crispy but lacked flavor and then I
tried it the traditional way which is with a tomato sauce and the cheese on top. The cheese
did not melt because it was a previously shredded cheese and I tried it with the green salsa.
Overall, I was not impressed at all. If you're in El Paso, check it out because it's a staple
but it's not delicious. I'm giving it a 1 out of 10. Next, we have the catfish basket. I ordered
some wings, a whole catfish, fried heart, and a side of okra. Catfish and okra are my favorite
combinations. We got off to a great start with the okra being delicious. I bit into the catfish.
It was fried hard. It was nice, tender, juicy. Then, you know, I had to try it with the hot sauce
and let me just tell you this. I had a great experience eating at this restaurant. Everything
was made to order, seasoned well, and great. That's delicious. Very good. Very good. You know
it's good when the person next to you commented on how good it was. The wings were fried to
perfection, seasoned very well. I really don't have anything bad to say about this restaurant.
It was a hole in the wall and it was absolutely delicious. I would definitely come back to visit.
This gets an 8.2 out of 10. Next stop is Rudy's if you want some traditional Texas barbecue.
This is a chain store and the meat is purchased by weight. It's a very casual restaurant. You sit
at picnic tables and there's a little bar where you can get little condiments. The corn was nice
and juicy. Of course, it was frozen because it wasn't in season. I ordered some smoked turkey.
The turkey was absolutely delicious, nice and tender and I tried it with a cherry pepper. You
also get a bag of bread for your meat. Sausage. I ordered their sausage which comes in one fourth
pound increments. The sausage was very well seasoned. It was juicy and it was smoked really,
really nicely. Delicious. Rudy's gets a 6.1 out of 10. Finally, we have Shogun, the Japanese
steakhouse. Of all the steakhouses I went to, I've never sat at these little chairs. Look at
this viewpoint. I thought that was really cool. It was a typical steakhouse. You had your appetizers
which is your soup. They did have some spicy edamame and I had a salad. The chef was amazing.
He had everyone laughing. The rice was good. It needed a little bit more seasoning though. I had
to ask for some garlic butter because it lacked flavor. I ordered the steak and the chicken. He
cooked my steak really well. I always order my steak medium rare and sometimes my steak comes
out overcooked but this chef did a great job cooking the steak. However, it did lack seasoning.
I needed a little more salt, some soy sauce, something but it was cool. The vegetables were
very well prepared as well. Everything came out nicely. Overall, it was a typical hibachi experience.
Nothing too fancy. This gets a 5.4 out of 10. I will travel for food.
Drop in the comments any restaurants or cities that I have to check out.
