Why Are Wedding Dresses So Expensive?

The same necklace costs $70 through a shop's bridal link and $41 through its regular one. Same stock number, same box. So why does a wedding dress cost what it costs — and is it really the silk and the hand-beading?

We follow a peer-reviewed study that priced identical items twice, once with the word "wedding" attached and once without, and find out where the number actually comes from. It isn't the fabric.
