In the Zaporizhzhia sector, the First Line unit, part of the "Timur Special Forces" of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, carried out combat missions for months. Archived footage of the GUR operations was shown in a new video. In the spring and summer of 2026, First Line unit fighters: - carried out more than 700 combat sorties of FPV drones and hit almost 600 enemy targets; - the crews of the Vampire heavy bombers carried out more than 550 combat sorties, 131 of which resulted in the successful destruction of targets, the volume of cargo and ammunition they delivered exceeded 10 tons; - conducted 2,150 hours of aerial reconnaissance in the air with continuous monitoring of the situation and the work of their own and related units; - more than 3 tons of logistics cargo and ammunition were delivered to the NRC, successful evacuation tasks were also carried out in the red zone; - destroyed more than 50 FPV drones of the occupiers, which were used to hunt Ukrainian soldiers; - carried out foot reconnaissance and accompanied friendly units to their positions. The First Line unit noted that reconnaissance, control, engagement, logistics, and evacuation operate as a unified system, with each element reinforcing the others. First Line fighters operate alongside other units because on the front lines, the common goal is to stop the enemy.
Recently, Ukrainian attack drones struck a Russian Kasta radar station near the temporarily occupied settlement of Vyshneve in Zaporizhzhia region. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed damage to the system’s antenna and equipment unit. The station in question is the mobile three-coordinate Kasta-2E2 radar system. Russian forces use it to detect and track airborne targets at low and extremely low altitudes.
The system can determine the coordinates of aircraft, helicopters, cruise missiles, and drones, then transmit the information to air defense command posts. The station has a detection range of 5 to 150 kilometers, while its maximum target detection altitude is 6 kilometers. The radar system can detect small drones flying at an altitude of approximately 60 meters from distances of 30 to 44 kilometers. The system is equipped with an antenna mast that can be raised to a height of up to 50 meters. This expands the radar coverage area and improves the detection of low-altitude targets. The estimated cost of a Russian Kasta-2E2 station, depending on its configuration, ranges from $60 million. Damage to the antenna and equipment unit reduces the Russian military’s ability to control the airspace in this part of Zaporizhzhia region.
