Russia’s total combat losses since the beginning of its full-scale invasion of Ukraine have reached approximately 1,495,050 personnel, according to the latest figures released by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on September 5. The Ukrainian military said the figure, which includes Russian troops killed and wounded, represents an increase of 1,260 personnel over the past 24 hours. According to the General Staff, Russian forces have also suffered substantial losses in military equipment since February 24, 2022. The reported losses include 12,328 tanks, 25,273 armored combat vehicles, and 49,227 artillery systems.
The latest figures indicate that Russian forces continue to sustain significant losses across multiple categories of weapons and equipment. Among the largest daily increases were 1,898 operational-tactical UAVs, 401 vehicles and tanker trucks, and 65 artillery systems.
The Ukrainian military also reported the destruction or loss of 13 ground-based robotic sys-tems, five multiple launch rocket systems, three tanks, one armored combat vehicle and eight units of specialized equipment over the past day. According to the General Staff, Rus-sian forces have now lost nearly 500,000 operational-tactical-level drones since the begin-ning of the full-scale war, highlighting the growing importance of unmanned systems on the battlefield. The latest Ukrainian assessment lists Russia’s total combat losses as follows: Personnel: approximately 1,495,050 killed and wounded; Tanks: 12,328; Armored combat vehicles: 25,273; Artillery systems: 49,227; Multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS): 2,093; Air defense systems: 1,604; Aircraft: 441; Helicopters: 355; Ground-based robotic systems: 2,502; Operational-tactical-level UAVs: 499,809; Cruise missiles: 5,070; Ships and boats: 35; Submarines: 2; Automotive equipment and tanker trucks: 144,043; Specialized equip-ment: 4,644. The figures cover Russian losses from February 24, 2022, through September 5, 2026, and were reported by the Ukrainian General Staff. It’s worth noting that Russia does not provide information about its military casualties and equipment losses.
