A remarkable rescue has unfolded in Nepal after a woman was found alive inside a mudslide-buried home 10 days after catastrophic floods devastated the region.
Chandika Kumari Shrestha was discovered on the upper floor of a four-storey building in Betrawati, Nuwakot District, after rescuers reportedly heard a human voice coming from inside.
A nine-member Armed Police Force team reached her at around 13:35 local time. Shrestha was conscious and able to speak before being airlifted to Kathmandu for medical treatment.
Her rescue comes amid an ongoing search for survivors following the devastating August 26 floods that swept through the Bhote Koshi and Trishuli river valleys.
The dramatic rescue follows the discovery of other survivors, including Nepali hydropower workers and a Chinese worker who were pulled alive from tunnels after spending days underground.
